Hello all
I couldn't see another thread but it looks like this starts on Thursday 10th April.

What will be the themes this year? Banquettets aplenty? Grumpy contestants coming on to the thread to tell us off for not being kind? Hideous colour combinations?

Who know what joys await us!

Do we think this week they will be ‘foraging’ from local skips in the same way they ‘foraged’ in the woods last week?

I'm sure they will have planted usable stuff in the skips! But maybe it won't be quite so obvious as dyed, dried flowers and clean slates.

@MrsBird03 and @Chrysanthemum5 I never watched 60 minute makeover so I knew it couldn't be that so I investigated and hope this link works: It was Linda Barker in Changing Rooms, and it was hilarious - though obviously not for the poor woman who'd collected all those teapots!

@LillyPJ I think @MrsBird03 was referring not to the great Changing Rooms teapot disaster (which was almost unbearable to watch) but when one of her neighbours was on a similar show. And 60 minute makeover was the absolute nadir of make over shows - the poor finish was obvious

I've seen an online article from the Westmorland Gazette which states that some of the art work, furnishings etc are now used in the communal areas of the hostel. I'm tempted to try and pop in to visit when I'm in the area in a fortnight's time (not likely I know).

I was impressed that Westmoreland woods apparently spawn neat bundles of dried flowers and artistically shaped shelves. I'm a regular in my local woods and never had a sniff of a dried flower arrangement - I feel cheated!

The "foraging" last week was sort of interesting because they had the choice of doing some proper foraging or picking up some bits that production had left for them. I'd probably have been lazy and gone for the latter but I do think it's a good idea to give them a small challenge to introduce to their design as long as it's not too bloody ridiculous.

I'm currently looking forward to finding out who is the person who does the cartoon fireplace stuff that we've seen a small glimpse of from a future episode. Unless the actual brief is "Children's nightmare comic room." I think that person might go home because I hate it! I loved what Rita did last week because it was dark and simple but looked good and not too out there for a YHA type room. Obviously a bit out there because if they were all do to what the YHA really wanted it would have been the most boring hour of television! LLB seemed to be a weird guest judge for something as basic as a YHA. I say this as someone who bought his velvet throw and a cushion of his from Matalan a couple of weeks ago (I'm unwell and turning my bedroom into an on the cheap Victorian bohemian boudoir and velvet throws arranged around each other with about a million and seventy velvet cushions of all colours and textures. LLB's bits work well, lord love his dandiness.). I'm guessing he'll be back later in the series to see something closer to the fact that he's a sweetheart maximalist. I loved the show he did last year looking around OTT houses and being a bit of a dote about it all.

Whoever it turns out to be will, I suspect, have ‘borrowed’ the idea from a cafe in S. Korea that was all over Instagram a couple of years ago. It’s entirely black and white and looks like being in a 2D drawing. Very striking but deeply strange and not comfortable-feeling at all.

JasmineTea11 · 17/04/2025 18:31

Thanks for the character list!
They seem like a really strong bunch of contestants this season. With each season the contestants seem much further down their 'journey of creative design'. In the past, there was usually a couple of really rubbish disorganised people / who only knew how to shop, but even Esse's room wasn't bad this week.

Netaporter · 17/04/2025 20:01

Checking in but I’m also fake tanning at the same time so won’t be able to watch closely 😂

Halsall · 17/04/2025 20:07

Evening all. I see we’ve already got some banquette seating going on….

Bruisername · 17/04/2025 20:09

Well he’s right that desk facing the wall can be depressing!!

Bruisername · 17/04/2025 20:15

Not sure blocking the window is a good idea

YouFetidMoppet · 17/04/2025 20:16

It's a co-lab desk, not collaborative desk. Tut tut.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 17/04/2025 20:28

Am 20 mins behind and they’re just loading the frame of that big massive desk! Wtf

Jellykat · 17/04/2025 20:28

Not keen on the booths, bit claustrophobic

YouFetidMoppet · 17/04/2025 20:29

I think it's OK for one but can't see how two people could work in one.

DDivaStar · 17/04/2025 20:30

Me neither and no comfortable all day, health and safety nightmare.

The little grey desks barely fit a laptop !

Bruisername · 17/04/2025 20:31

A bit too cosy for 2!

the meeting table on wheels is a good concept but doesn’t seem comfortable. Very convenient about the pallets🙄

Bruisername · 17/04/2025 20:31

This will probably highlight who has worked in an office and who hasn’t!

Jellykat · 17/04/2025 20:36

God i havent heard Sweet for decades!

Jellykat · 17/04/2025 20:43

I wouldnt be able to work facing a wall, bit like being on detention

Bruisername · 17/04/2025 20:44

I didn’t like Johns or Emma’s

I like Hollys - it actually seems quite practical

Ayishas was also practical but ugly

bradleys doesn’t look like an office

Jellykat · 17/04/2025 20:45

Yes with not facing the wall!!

Bruisername · 17/04/2025 20:45

At least Bradley has good chairs though!!

craigs is a bit meh - I couldn’t work with those colours!!

bryony looks like she was inspired by Ikea

Halsall · 17/04/2025 20:46

I’m totally confused by Briony's Cockernee code-switching - she’s been doing it every few minutes tonight - posh/not posh. Just pick a side and stick to it!
