On in about 15 mins, anyone planning to watch?

OP posts:

He's the poster boy for weaponised incompetence.

If she started an MN thread in Relationships, she'd get a unanimous LTB.

(Edited to add the caveat that I didn't actually watch the programme but nothing I've seen of him previously makes me think otherwise.)

Feck no. Stacy is ok in small doses but Joe is all bad hair dye and wasted space.

Don’t forget his weird tan, strange colour 🤣

first minute made me turn over - who spreads butter with a spoon?

My 10 year old.

BobnLen · 02/04/2025 15:49

I don't know if I can bring myself to watch it as he gets on my nerves, it is very heavily advertised, probably similar to The Rees Moggs which I didn't mind but that was on Paramount rather than prime time BBC

Oldglasses · 02/04/2025 15:56

I watched the last 10 or so minutes or so and wondered where they were on holiday, but someone has said Turkiye further up.
I don't mind Stacey - she does come across as very capable although her persona is 'ditsy', I don't think she is. Joe needs to not wear v-neck tops that show his chest, it really isn't necessary. He definitely rides on her coattails!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/04/2025 16:02

I loved it. Love the whole family. Thought they all came across perfectly well. Very brave to let the camera follow you like that and to then get the inevitable criticism.

Edited

I think she knows this. She was packing to go on holiday and Joe forgot the nappies, the only job she gave him. She was well aware he'd have to go out and could then avoid helping her with the kids/packing!

My DH wasn’t impressed with Joe. I think it was the point he went into Victoria Secrets with the children shouting “don’t touch the boobies” that it showed how childish he was.

I don’t think he has ever grown up. Having said that, Stacy is like a Sargent major and my DH said he also wouldn’t put up with that so I guess that is why it works. I personally felt that Stacy was quite demeaning in her approach to Joe and Joe acts up to it. He reminds me of my teenager who acts how people expect him to.

She didn’t seem to hold him to account for the lateness. She may have done behind the cameras but that just makes me question if she has editing rights to the show.

TeaRoseTallulah · 02/04/2025 16:52

I've watched it.

I enjoyed it but then again I love crap reality shows, they're like bubblegum for the brain.

He needs to stop dying his hair and wearing those god awful vee necked t shirts.

I think she is fantastic with her teens, no good getting stroppy and shouting, ime they just don't respond well, let them moan but keep calm and just let them know you mean business.

I am sure the late for the meeting nonsense was just for the cameras, he knows how important her work is,he's not daft.

I love how excited he was for her winning the award , that spoke volumes. He needs to get his act together though because she'll get fed up quickly I imagine, they're only 2 years into their marriage and another 20 of him acting like this will get tired very fast.

Me.

TeaRoseTallulah · 02/04/2025 17:01

It's sensible really to use a spoon as a knife is more likely to tear the bread/toast.

Meredusoleil · 02/04/2025 18:35

Does anyone know where Stacey's mum is in all of this? We don't seem to hear or see her ever? Unlike her dad.

NerdyBird · 02/04/2025 19:33

Watched it with DD as she is currently a fan of Sort Your Life Out and Stacey.
I thought Stacey was fine but Joe did not come across well. If he's like that through the whole series I don't think it'll do his career or profile any good.
I agree it's also a bit more of an ITV type programme, but I guess the BBC is trying to make the most of her popularity.

I'm actually wondering if this is a very smart move by Stacy in the hope that Joe might listen to the overwhelming feedback on how useless he is and buck his ideas up

Stressybetty · 02/04/2025 19:50

Hmmm, I follow her on Instagram and this seems very much a continuation of what she shares and her chats on there. Wasn't keen on the tinkly background music at times and it felt very bitty, jumping from one scene to another rather than flowing. Think that wasn't helped by breaking it up for the little interviews. Felt Joe was showing off, hamming it up for the camera, both in the shopping centre but especially with his fishing mates who I could care less about. Both the mates were awkward with the cameras there. All seemed quite staged. It does make me like Stacey more, she's very human and real and yes needs a medal for putting up with Joe. I'll watch the rest and hope it's better edited/produced!

Anonymous2003 · 02/04/2025 19:56

Came here to say that Leighton is a spoiled brat!

Anonymous2003 · 02/04/2025 20:03

And that Joe is an embarrassment

NoIcantDropthis · 02/04/2025 20:03

I’ve met her twice through work. I have to say she is absolutely delightful- polite, kind (genuinely interested when she chats to you) and very professional. I’ve met other celebrities who were really rude and she was honestly one of the nicest.

I'd be interested to know if they ever actually got married. She admitted that the "wedding" at Pickle Cottage wasn't a legal ceremony but I can't remember seeing if they ever followed it up with a legal wedding.

TidyDancer · 02/04/2025 20:15

I watched it, I don’t mind a bit of mindless stuff like this tbh. I like Stacey but I didnt see a whole lot of appreciation from her about how incredibly lucky she’s been. Yes she works hard and is very organised but she’s got what she has because of her celebrity and it seemed to be presented as purely hard graft which I felt was disingenuous. May not have been her intention tbf, possible editing fault.

She is married to a manchild which must be quite difficult.

I think they did, as I remember seeing photos. But can't remember where from 🤦‍♀️

I don't understand what you mean, shes not famous for being famous, she's worked hard at her job which happens to be appearing on TV programmes that people like to watch which has led to her being sucessful

You know that old saying about the harder you work the luckier you get?

She has probably worked harder than you, and from a much younger age than you.

I mean she’s got where she’s got right now because she had a level of fame already. Via X Factor and I’m a Celeb etc. What she does now with her BBC shows and lifestyle stuff is as a result of the exposure she had from that. I think she’s being presented as a smart businesswoman who has built up a small empire from nothing when it’s more that she’s exploited what fame she already had. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing or that she’s not likeable, she is. It’s great that she’s achieved what she has.
