CLASSIC CORRIE THREAD. Now in June 2006.

Well here we are, a new thread a full year (almost) after the last one. Almost 2 years have passed (in Classic Corrie) since the start of the last thread (we were at September 2004, and it's now June 2006.)

So we have Keith still in it, about to be booted out of his house, after trying to get one over on Charlie Stubbs, who bought the house Keith is living in and gave him notice to move out. (And Keith and Audrey are finished now.)

Steve's girlfriend Ronnie appears to trying to set Steve up for the hit and run that she did in a Streetcars taxi.

Lloyd - Steve's new Streetcars partner has been dating Kelly Crabtree, who has recently been set up for a theft she didn't do by street newcomer Becky. In a drunken stupor, Kelly slept with Steve!

Janice is back (much to Cilla's disgust!)

Leanne and Danny have just got engaged. (Though Danny clearly is still in love with his ex wife Frankie...) Frankie has gone off to Spain leaving Nathan (her new fella) moping around without her. Les adopting Chesney has recently been approved.

Dev's 'long lost' daughter Amber has just moved in with him in his flat. And Dev is making the house he bought for him and Sunita, nice, in the hope that she will return soon with the baby twins (Asha and Aadi.)

Poor Ashley is fighting in court to keep his own son, after the 'bio father' (Matt) turned up trying to make a claim on him FOUR years after his birth, and after FOUR years of having nothing to do with him, (he wants him now because his new wife can't have children!) Ashley's wife Claire is quite heavily pregnant.

Sean has just recently met his dad, who was very cold and had a very unwelcoming wife when he went to see him. His dad came to Coronation Street shortly after to see Sean, but bottled out very quickly and drove off before Sean could see him. Sean prays he comes back.

We still have Blanche in it, being her nosey intrusive self, and also the equally nosey and intrusive Norris. Rita got caught in Norris's wardrobe recently after he had brought a woman home who he'd met in a lonely hearts club. That only lasted 5 minutes though after Norris decided he is better off alone!

Not much going on with the Barlows at the moment, apart from Tracey using everyone she can to look after Amy so she doesn't have to! And Gail is resuming normality as much as possible, after discovering that her son David was the one sending greetings cards signed 'Richard Hillman' for the past few months. David's punishment is to work at Audrey's salon. (Must be how he started working with hair!'

Sarah and Jason are due to be married, and Sarah is super excited about it. Jason, not so much. Sally and Kevin finally accepted the relationship with their daughter Rosie and her boyfriend Craig (the goth.) After many MANY months of resistance, and Rosie becoming a goth too. Rosie and Craig have recently de-gothed themselves though!

Oh, and we recently lost long-standing character Mike Baldwin who died of a massive heart attack. (April 2006.) Sad

I'm sure I've missed bits out, but I think these are the main bits for now. Grin

Let's see where it's all at when this thread finishes!

Michelle is being a terrible mum to Ryan, prioritizing Alex above all else. Poor Ryan I feel sad for him.

SabreIsMyFave · 27/02/2026 19:59

I agree @thenightsky

Also, Michelle is still pissing me off. She's all over Alex, and poor Ryan is being pushed out!

Yes i really feel for ryan
I get that Michelle' wants to see Alex but ignoring Ryan'sfeelings isn't the way to go about it very difficult situation
If somone told me one of my sons wasent actually mine I would still feel like their mother I have invested 19 and 16 years in their lives I couldnt give them up but would also want to know my actual child.

SabreIsMyFave · 28/02/2026 09:02

Yes, it can't be easy for Michelle I guess @x2boys but as you say, whilst you can understand her wanting to get to know her bio son, she is completely disregarding Ryan's feelings. (And he is her son too.) Smile

And I really do feel for Alex's mum/not bio mum. She's lost him already. I mean, his dad has as well, but he's the one who started all this, so it's like a case of 'be careful what you wish for!'

Steve is a saint. Michelle is very high maintenance, and highly strung. I don't know how he hasn't thrown in the towel.

Sean is being absolutely appalling. Turning up constantly at the hospital, engaging with midwives/nurses and telling Violet the outcome.
It is not his place to do this. Violet should tell the staff of his status as donor, NOT father.
She needs to firmly advise him that he is not running her life and to wait until
he is INVITED, not assume he is a the centre of the universe.
I really cannot stand him as a character, and I know it’s all for drama but I hated the way they scripted it for him to be supporting V at the birth.

PlattyCat · 01/03/2026 19:33

I do not remember the new wallpaper in the Rovers. I'm assuming it doesn't stay up to long. It's really dark and drab

Regardless of how annoying he is he is still Dylans Dad not Jamie and its violet that changed the goal posts and decided he was just the" Doner"
I think she ,s realised she's made a huge mistake but it doesnt change anything.

Can’t stand Michelle right now, team Ryan all the way. Steve, you are so much better than her. Alex can go home to Wendy, but I know that won’t happen. Tony and Carta, weird.

Shoecamp · 03/03/2026 19:09

I hate Michelle. She’s being absolutely awful to Ryan. And to Wendy. Can you IMAGINE the screeching if Ryan had gone to live with Alex and Wendy?

OnTheBoardwalk · 03/03/2026 22:37

Michelle needs to STFU and stop screeching. Team Ryan here

where is Liz in all this? It’s her home to and she seems to have disappeared

I did notice Amy seemed to like Vernon and interacted with him that she doesn’t do that often. She had more of a connection with him than with Jim, god rest his soul

SabreIsMyFave · 03/03/2026 22:46

Totally agree about Michelle. She is being AWFUL. How dare she try and steal Alex away from his mum? Hmm And poor Ryan. Why on earth is Michelle behaving like this?! And why is STEVE tolerating it all?! Confused

Tina is pregnant! By DAVID! She's decided she wants to terminate, and Gail is helping her.

I wonder why Ashley's butcher shop is doing badly after all these years? Was it the beginning of the credit crunch?! (That started in 2008 didn't it?)

Oh, I remember this story from the first time around! It certainly comes back to bite Gail on the arse more than once!

x2boys · 04/03/2026 00:49

I actually thought Gail was being supportive to Tina here she's telling her to decide what she wants to do and she would support her either way she's said she would pay private because waiting on the NHS would take longer and the foetus would be bigger
I do think she's trying her best

i find this storyline difficult to work out how I feel about it. On the one hand, Gail is making this entirely Tina’s decision, which it is. But, David is her son and she’s showing no loyalty to david by not asking Tina to discuss it with him. David is not going to like that. I find it hard to criticise her for her actions as it is Tina’s decision, but if I was David I wouldnt be happy with my mum for this.
I also find it interesting to consider Gail’s actions and motivations on it. She’s known for sticking her nose in and being controlling, I would have exoected her (based on her experience with Bethany and Sarah) to either be very AGAINST the pregnancy as David is so young and she has seen how difficult it was and how it changed Sarah’s life, OR be very FOR the pregnancy given that she loves Bethany so much. It’s actually pretty admirable that she’s managing to leave this to Tina to decide

SabreIsMyFave · 04/03/2026 17:06

@x2boys

Yes, when I said Gail is helping Tina - ie; to access an abortion - and paying for it - I didn't mean she was doing it macliciously or for nefarious reasons. And I do think she is being kind and helpful, as she likes Tina, because she has changed David a bit! She asked Tina what she wanted to do, and Tina decided to terminate the pregnancy. Then Gail decided to help her. Smile

But you're right @Shoecamp it is a little bit out of order for Gail to just do this behind David's back by assuming he is so immature he couldn't handle it. Yes he is young, but he should have been in on this.

And noooooo. he ain't gonna be happy! 😱
