CLASSIC CORRIE THREAD. Now in June 2006.

Well here we are, a new thread a full year (almost) after the last one. Almost 2 years have passed (in Classic Corrie) since the start of the last thread (we were at September 2004, and it's now June 2006.)

So we have Keith still in it, about to be booted out of his house, after trying to get one over on Charlie Stubbs, who bought the house Keith is living in and gave him notice to move out. (And Keith and Audrey are finished now.)

Steve's girlfriend Ronnie appears to trying to set Steve up for the hit and run that she did in a Streetcars taxi.

Lloyd - Steve's new Streetcars partner has been dating Kelly Crabtree, who has recently been set up for a theft she didn't do by street newcomer Becky. In a drunken stupor, Kelly slept with Steve!

Janice is back (much to Cilla's disgust!)

Leanne and Danny have just got engaged. (Though Danny clearly is still in love with his ex wife Frankie...) Frankie has gone off to Spain leaving Nathan (her new fella) moping around without her. Les adopting Chesney has recently been approved.

Dev's 'long lost' daughter Amber has just moved in with him in his flat. And Dev is making the house he bought for him and Sunita, nice, in the hope that she will return soon with the baby twins (Asha and Aadi.)

Poor Ashley is fighting in court to keep his own son, after the 'bio father' (Matt) turned up trying to make a claim on him FOUR years after his birth, and after FOUR years of having nothing to do with him, (he wants him now because his new wife can't have children!) Ashley's wife Claire is quite heavily pregnant.

Sean has just recently met his dad, who was very cold and had a very unwelcoming wife when he went to see him. His dad came to Coronation Street shortly after to see Sean, but bottled out very quickly and drove off before Sean could see him. Sean prays he comes back.

We still have Blanche in it, being her nosey intrusive self, and also the equally nosey and intrusive Norris. Rita got caught in Norris's wardrobe recently after he had brought a woman home who he'd met in a lonely hearts club. That only lasted 5 minutes though after Norris decided he is better off alone!

Not much going on with the Barlows at the moment, apart from Tracey using everyone she can to look after Amy so she doesn't have to! And Gail is resuming normality as much as possible, after discovering that her son David was the one sending greetings cards signed 'Richard Hillman' for the past few months. David's punishment is to work at Audrey's salon. (Must be how he started working with hair!'

Sarah and Jason are due to be married, and Sarah is super excited about it. Jason, not so much. Sally and Kevin finally accepted the relationship with their daughter Rosie and her boyfriend Craig (the goth.) After many MANY months of resistance, and Rosie becoming a goth too. Rosie and Craig have recently de-gothed themselves though!

Oh, and we recently lost long-standing character Mike Baldwin who died of a massive heart attack. (April 2006.) Sad

I'm sure I've missed bits out, but I think these are the main bits for now. Grin

Let's see where it's all at when this thread finishes!

I hope it comes out soon that David loosened the bolts on the scaffolding, that resulted in Jason being hurt/ending up on crutches!

David needs to brush up on his scaffold bolt loosening skills in modern Corrie. There's an evil scaffolder on there who's heading for a fall.

What puzzles me is that no-one has thought David needs psychiatric help. I'd have thought the police would have followed up and suggest he gets a mental health check up.
He winds me up so much!

thecatdidit · 17/12/2025 20:16

I think they already know that David loosened the scaffolding, but that's been brushed under the carpet.

Yes he is showing psychopathic traits ,I could well imagine him being a lone shooter in the right circumstances

Yeah this, the David right now is displaying traits that suggest that could happen!

Him taking Sarah's wedding dress and putting in the bag of rags that he knew would go on the guy for the bonfire was a wicked thing to do! Isn't it enough that he wrecked Sarah and Jason's wedding, and also their honeymoon? I wonder why he felt the need to do this? Also, Amber saw David take the dress (after Jason left it in Roy's Cafe,) so it will come out that David is responsible.

Yeah, I noticed that! Not been mentioned since he drove his car into the canal!

Is that it done until after Christmas now ? 🙄😩

thenightsky · 19/12/2025 21:36

Rosie is a nightmare, but takes after Sally I guess.

Oh definitely it always annoys me she doesn't have the same aspirations for Sophie who as I recall turns out to be far brighter than Rosie

How irksome! I like Carry On Films, but I don't see why Classic Corrie has to be cancelled for it. Hmm They could have carried on showing it all over Christmas, and just not had it on for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Annoying isn't it i dont mind the odd carry on film but not weeks. Of it.

Thing is, I very muchly look forward to Classic Corrie in the afternoon. I know if I go back to previous episodes I’ll lose where we are ; series 47 or whatever it is !

Bloody Carry On tripe eh

JewelleryCat · 20/12/2025 08:54

Yes and I’ll have forgotten what is happening in either Classic Emmerdale or Classic Corrie because they want to put Midsomer/Poirot/Carry On/Darling Buds in its place

TennisWithDeborah · 20/12/2025 14:38

I don’t understand why ITV2 ditches Classic C at Christmas/NY when it’s very popular.

Shoecamp · 20/12/2025 15:10

I know David didn’t intend to kill himself but it was a bit of a risk wasn’t it? I don’t think it’s easy to get out of a car which is uunderwater and the fact that he’s actually been there with Richard hill man means he knows that. When we saw him drive in, the car went underwater pretty quickly, he must have been terrified

Neither do I. They don’t have a break for Easter or other holidays, just Christmas

I was thinking the car probably sank really fast was because he left the windows open in order to swim straight out and up.

I think this too. He took a bit of a gamble though didn't he? Shock

I’m behind but have been catching up this morning. I’ve just seen Tony Gordon’s and Marcus’ early appearances which is good, I know they’re going to be strong and interesting characters, but otherwise it’s kind of flat.

I’m waiting for the John/Fiz storyline to ramp up and also anticipating the outcome of Hayley’s son’s story which I can’t recall from first time around.

I’m finding the Tyrone/Paul and going-off-the-rails David scenes very boring, despite liking the actors.

It’s clear now, how poorly written the Morton family was. One-dimensional.

Despite a few good stories and characters, this is definitely a show in decline.

eggandonion · 28/12/2025 13:55

When someone new arrives they are given time to settle in in the classics...school teacher or business man or whatever.

SabreIsMyFave · 06/01/2026 09:30

Happy New Year everyone! Classic Corrie is back on now. (Started yesterday.) John Stape is popular with the ladies isn't he?! I don't get why! 😆

Him deciding to do private tutoring with Sally, (again) after she had declared she was attracted to him, is very unprofessional. He should have said 'no way.' Fiz is unhappy with it too, as she is suspicious that Sally fancies John - (and she's right!) John still carrying on tutoring Sally when Fiz is upset and insecure about it is horribly disrespectful towards Fiz. I'd be questioning the relationship right now if I was Fiz.

It's horrible seeing Rosie flirting with him and I can remember something of the story line. I didn't remember that Rosie had a fling with him before things went drastically awry ( I don't want to spoil it if people can't reacall/haven't watched before)

thecatdidit · 06/01/2026 13:49

I just want the Morton family to leave, it's funny how some characters just aren't accepted.

Yes, I’m not keen on them either
