I am going to bet that there are no more related people.
Freddie and Francesca most definitely not related, I think. Just over emotional.

Thanks for the new thread. DH is ill, he made sure that I noticed he was ill by making noises all the way through the round table.

I threatened to banish DD if she didn't stop chattering through the quiet bits. I want to hear the scheming!

I think we'll have to stick with Alexander as there is also the mostly unshown Alex. Eventually, surely, we will see more of Alex.

Could not sleep last night for a long time and was mulling over how on earth you would pick 25 people out of 300,000 applicants. Where would you even start? And having had 300,000 to pick from, how have they ended up with so many barely distinguishable young white men in their late 20s or early 30s?

I wonder if they literally just delete 290,000 of them at random.

Yeah there's a chance you'll lose someone who'd be brilliant, but balancing that against the time it would take to sift through them all..

kindlyensure · 09/01/2025 10:52

Threre is a picture of Freddie's mum on his insta and it is deffo not Francesca

Lentilweaver · 09/01/2025 10:55

I am getting too invested but next time they should pick some Asian bus drivers or hairdressers and some white doctors and lawyers. Just to see how that works.

I suspect they have an idea of the “types” they want to cast and do an initial sift for that.

I think I also read somewhere that some people are approached to be on the show. Don’t know what the balance is between that and the people who apply.

Yes there will deffo be that element (having known people on reality shows).

Insta is a classic hunting ground. I wonder if Livi was approached this way actually, as she already had an agent and written a book about her illness.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/01/2025 11:00

Cast against type, great idea! You could have a 60yo black woman who runs ultramarathons, a 20yo milk-white lad with red hair who's a model, 40yo Asian woman in headscarf working as a car mechanic, and so on.

Stowickthevast · 09/01/2025 11:01

That makes sense @ViolinsPlayGentlyOn there were definitely a couple in the previous series that were "media adjacent" - Harry's gf and her brother , and Paul who had done other podcasts and deal or no deal, spring to mind.

LindorDoubleChoc · 09/01/2025 11:37

Is it just me or is anyone else finding the speculation about other secret relationships a little bit annoying? I do tend to scroll through the speculation as I'm not interested, but these keep coming up.

Francesca explained why she was close to Freddie ("he's the same age as my oldest and I feel an affinity with him") and Freddie was gutted that she voted for him because "she's like a Mum to me". Have people not heard that expression before? He's only 20 and not even out of University. I have a son the same age and if he was in the show I'd hope there would be a slightly protective older and wiser figure watching out for him. I don't think Francesca was wrong to vote for him btw, just saying I can see exactly how that friendship came to be. It doesn't mean they are mother and son! Surely too obvious.

123ZYX · 09/01/2025 11:45

I wonder if Linda's lack of decisions as a traitor could be a tactic? If people start spotting links between who is murdered it could lead to finding a traitor.

If you never put someone forward, and just agree with the other traitor, it can't be traced to you as easily.

TheBluntTurtle · 09/01/2025 11:52

it was quite upsetting seeing Kas being ostracised by the group. What did become quite apparent is how some faithfuls basically decide who they want to ‘go for’ and then refuse to be open minded or consider any evidence they collect that day. Leon basically said that he’s decided it’s Kas and is only going to vote for him until he’s gone - that’s a terrible approach as a faithful as he’s not prepared to consider the accused defence or any other evidence other than the initial gut feeling, which was wrong. Tyler is very similar - when there was the discussion about whether to vote for Freddie or Anna (I think) he was undecided and just said Freddie has to go and that’s it at the start of the day before collecting further evidence. Livi seems to be easily swayed by Tyler - she wanted him to make a decision on who he was going for to help her decide. I think minah needs to break up the group of Tyler/ livi/ Leanne and should probably look to murder Tyler soon as I can’t see him getting banished soon.

I'd love to think that but she really just seems blank and unable to get beyond the most basic agreeing with whoever's talking, rubbing people's backs, pulling one face if accused and only being able to muster an accusation back at her accuser with no logic. She's got no gameplan beyond that and even that seems a strain. I can feel her panic beneath, just focusing on keeping her face set. It's a shame as she felt herself quite a wild creative character at the outset but was quickly out of her depth. She's done well to stay in this long but I'm looking forward to there being a more proactive traitor as it's a bit of a waste of the role.

GameOfJones · 09/01/2025 11:56

I'm not finding the speculation annoying but I'm really surprised that so many people can't tell Joe and Dan apart. They have different coloured hair and different accents for one thing!

I think Linda is a terrible traitor but is so bad she's good, her facial expression when Kas hinted he may be a traitor last night really made me laugh! I think Minah is an excellent traitor but I don't warm to her at all, she's made a couple of comments about how much she's enjoyed the murdering that have turned me off her a bit. I know it's the point of the game but I find the glee and laughing about getting rid of people a bit much.

JessyCarr · 09/01/2025 11:56

Choux · 09/01/2025 08:57

My latest random musing. Minah doesn't mind this as she and Linda knew each other well before Traitors. They are neighbours. They looked so excited to see each other the first night in the turret.

My prediction for tonight - Minah pulls out the shield at breakfast and suggests the traitors may have tried to murder her or the other two who may have had a shield from Alex or Leanne which paints all of them as faithful and also covers up the recruitment.

Are you sure @Choux? How is Minah from Liverpool a neighbour of Linda frrom Hertfordshire? If anything I’d have thought they had just liked each other when they met on the way to the castle or whatever.

Having dug a little on The Vicar I see she was only ordained as recently as 2023, and was in the pharmaceutical industry (sales and marketing role I think) prior to that.

Allatseas · 08/01/2025 22:50

There is a bit of a bullying vibe going on this time which I don’t like. I also don’t like all the histrionic weeping and wailing. Most of the contestants are not very likeable either.

Agree with this !

Lentilweaver · 09/01/2025 11:58

I enjpy Traitors like Minah who love murder. Better than all the weepy wet lettuces pouting and linking hands. I liked Paul last year too until he got overconfident

Christwosheds · 09/01/2025 12:00

Yes I really like Minah, she is playing very well.

GameOfJones · 09/01/2025 12:01

What I do find interesting is everyone's different opinions on people (e.g. I don't mind Dan at all, he made a valid point defending Kas after he left and Joe was being whiny .... but I know a lot of people dislike him.) The crying also doesn't bother me, but I cry when I'm frustrated so I imagine I'd be upset a lot too!

It's fascinating really how people have different reactions to watching the same thing, and we see that in the game too.

I'd love a podcast or programme based on the psychology of the show like a PP mentioned!

jumpintheline · 09/01/2025 12:07

Allatseas · 09/01/2025 08:40

Linda just agrees with everything her fellow traitor says. She looks like a frightened rabbit generally. I find her annoying .

Same! She has no game. I hope she goes soon

MrsMitford3 · 09/01/2025 12:38

I also think it shows how hard it is to behave when the tide of opinion goes against you despite you being innocent. The more you try and explain/protest the more ppl looking for reasons to find you a traitor see them-when they are clearly not there.
Just fascinating exploration of human nature and mob mentality.

But also think some of the contestants (quite rightly) have watched previous seasons and alll fancy themselves armchair detectives. But instead of having open minds and watching carefully once they latch on to a suspicion-however fanciful or random-like Kas's completely kind and innocent toast-they see guilt everywhere and become very blinkered.

Agree with someone upthread who commented how nasty the faithful are this season

No, not just you.

There may be, there may not be. Either way, I'm not bothered at this stage.

CaveMum · 09/01/2025 12:41

Not Traitors related, but if people enjoy the psychology of TV shows I really recommend the podcast "Shrink The Box" where Ben Bailey Smith and a psychologist discuss TV characters and their personality traits and the psychology may be behind them.

There are about 50 episodes so far and they've done everything from characters in Game of Thrones to Chandler Bing, Fleabag and Tony Soprano. It's fascinating.

Searchingforjobs · 09/01/2025 12:43

I'd love next year for the producers to make everyone say they work in a shop or something so there's no discrimination based on career.
It would be interesting to see everyone trying to maintain the pretence on top of everything else!

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 09/01/2025 12:43

Why on earth wouldn't they (or the producers if they're making the real decisions) pick a Jake or an Alex who are totally under the radar and could be an effective traitor for a good while, and take any heat off Linda forever (useless though she is)?

But they are only under the radar because of the editing. And it’s edited that way because those people aren’t really mentioned much on the round table.
