When you are recruited as a traitor and then get banished can you say you were faithful but recruited or do you have to just say you were just traitor?

I’m sure I’ve seen original Traitors in some series say things like “I am and have always been a Traitor” but don’t remember anyone saying they were recruited.

pandaface680 · 09/01/2025 09:18

It's strange how the traitors by default are meant to be the 'mean' ones but actually it's the faithfuls this series who are becoming the villains by being so awful to other faithfuls. I can see how the suspicion would send you a bit mental but agree it's especially brutal this year. Also unfair to ostracise someone to the point where they can't even really participate in the game anymore.

SabrinaToolmaker · 09/01/2025 09:32

I still don’t understand why they murdered Keith. I know it was supposed to make the faithful go wtf? but I feel like they could have used his popularity to their advantage.

pinkdelight · 09/01/2025 09:39

I think though there's too many people not being shown

Hugely agree with this. Pissed me right off that the three people considered for recruiting were already people very much in play. Why on earth wouldn't they (or the producers if they're making the real decisions) pick a Jake or an Alex who are totally under the radar and could be an effective traitor for a good while, and take any heat off Linda forever (useless though she is)? It's like they're picking for really short term reasons - people think Freddy is a traitor so he'll be banished and revealed as a traitor - okay that buys you like, one day, then you need to recruit again! I also hate that they can't recruit and murder on the same night. And I think that if someone declines to be recruited, they should get murdered instead. It's lame for viewers, declining recruitment, and wastes time.

But back to the main point, they really need to mix things up with the accusations because it's total group think and the same names over and over. Probably because there's only one effective traitor and she's super low key. So there's big swathes of those samey guys all getting away with never coming under suspicion. Something needs to happen to make them all more in play.

My DM and I were saying this. We also said we'd prefer to be a Traitor this series as it seems much less stressful!

ElaborateCushion · 09/01/2025 09:40

I'm new to the Traitors threads (and the show itself!), but this has been niggling me.

Are the ones that are are last in at breakfast always of the three that were in contention for murder? If so, how do the others not know that this must mean that they're faithfuls??

loveawineloveacrisp · 09/01/2025 09:48

I was cheering for Kas last night. Good for him winding them all up in his way out.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/01/2025 09:54

Apparently a former contestant said they shoot that breakfast scene over and over again and what you see is heavily edited. The potential victims aren't actually always the last ones in.

Here are the confusing young white men. This is Tyler (Curtains). Barber.

I sincerely doubt the producers are influencing anything other than the initial Traitor selection and any team element to the tasks.

You have to remember several points:

  1. The show is edited after the fact so they need to do it in such a way that the people who are about the be murdered/banished are shown more prominently. Otherwise someone will leave and the viewers will just say "Who the hell was that?" Same goes for recruitments

  2. They are editing a period of 24-36 hours down into a 1 hour show so it's not possible in the early episodes to show everyone fully. They have to prioritise the Traitors and then those that are the most vocal or under the most suspicion so that we can follow the narrative.

That's why last night Anna seemingly appeared out of nowhere - she had to be "profiled" so that we would understand why her name was coming up so much at the round table.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/01/2025 09:56

And this is Jake. Project manager from Barrow-in-Furness. I think he was the one who prompted Kas to make the Shipman comment.

I was wondering if that's what they did

Samcro · 09/01/2025 10:07

i felt so sorry for the doctor guy. they were horrid to him, his exit was good though.
wish they had saved Jack. it was obvious they would save the woman. hope she does't become a traitor as I think she will make a better faithful.
not liking new guy.(cos he's not Jack lol)
love Minah. I think she likes the fact that Linda doesn't do much.

Edited

I work in TV so I understand how the process works. I also wouldn't be surprised if there's some involvement in things like who to recruit. Even on the more 'hands-off' shows, there's often elements of structuring and storylining, which the selection of those three potential recruits as opposed to others has a whiff of.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/mediapacks/the-traitors-series-3-contestants#meetthetraitorsseries3players

If I had the job of selecting contestants, I'd make it a priority to choose people who looked and sounded really different from one another. There are no redheads this year, are there? Pity.

I note nearly everyone has called themselves bubbly, charming, happy go lucky. Not seeing much evidence of that. It's all whining or weeping huge buckets.

Joe, of course, has claimed he is a brilliant judge of character!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/01/2025 10:18

It's very like the early rounds of Masterchef when a contestant says with supreme confidence 'I'm here to win, I'm going to go all the way!' - first person eliminated after serving up uncooked rice, or similar. I always rub my hands when they leave a remark like that in the edit. Grin

Choux · 09/01/2025 10:18

Fozia is astute and seems to have emotional intelligence. She might not know who the traitors are but her supportive comments to Kasim will have marked her to all as a kind person. Alex did not speak at the round table as far as we are aware. I think the faithful will like her and believe she is also faithful.

Being smart she will know that reaching out to Kasim at her first round table will have got her on the traitors' radar. She will be on the traitors murder shortlist as a 'unlikely to get banished' person. I wouldn't be surprised if Fozia get recruited - maybe not tonight - as a means to stay in the game and will school even Minah in how to be a good traitor.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/01/2025 10:21

I think we'll have to stick with Alexander as there is also the mostly unshown Alex. Eventually, surely, we will see more of Alex.

Could not sleep last night for a long time and was mulling over how on earth you would pick 25 people out of 300,000 applicants. Where would you even start? And having had 300,000 to pick from, how have they ended up with so many barely distinguishable young white men in their late 20s or early 30s?

WinterCosiness · 09/01/2025 10:22

The last two series I was 100% team faithful. I still kind of am, as that's my default. But, I feel a lot of the loveliest faithfuls (the truly faithful faithfuls) have already gone this year. I loved Kas, and thought Elen seemed really kind too. Keith was like your favourite uncle. Sad we didn't see more of him. Then Jack went before he really had a chance. Seemed like an honest gardener. Most professional gardeners I've ever met have been very wholesome souls 😊
I'm very aware that it's heavily edited, and we're not seeing everything of anyone. So I try to keep that in mind. Some things might not be as bad as they appear.
Re the traitors - I'm going to go a little bit against the grain of this thread! I actually love Linda! I know she's a terrible traitor; but that's why I love her! I tend to like the good faithfuls and the hopeless traitors! I know I couldn't be a traitor for a second. I'm a hopeless liar and would get flustered and also just find it too upsetting. I couldn't bear to be the cause of someone leaving the game (I obviously will never apply!). Minah, who seems to be a MN favourite, is obviously an absolutely outstanding traitor. But, for that reason, I'm terrified of her! She relishes the role just a bit too much. Re Armani, again, I'm going to slightly go against the grain - I actually loved that she was so confident. Bless her. As a woman with exceptionally low self-esteem, I always think it's great when women do have good self-esteem. Yes, she was not a good traitor, but came across as a nice bubbly person. As stated, I like the good faithfuls and the bad traitors!
Jaz last year will probably always be my favourite faithful 😊

Ah - that makes sense - thank you. Did think it would be a bit of an immense giveaway!

Will pay a bit more attention to the editing tonight but I can see how it could be done cleverly!

Maggieb90 · 09/01/2025 10:29

This series:
As pp have said, too many similar types of people, the 3 lads - keep getting them confused, Dan, Jake and??
Real imbalance with air time- felt i hardly knew Leon, Francesca and Alex, and the Vicar - seems the more extrovert you are the more air time you get, not surprising really.
Linda just seems to ho along with everything Minah says rather than come up with her own ideas.
Thought the traitor's recruitment choices were terrible, went for the people who already have targets on their backs!
Poor Kaz, he didn't stand a chance he looked so defeated, suspect there was much more off camera to make him feel like that, know it's just a game but this series is feeling a bit mean and cliquey

TheBunyip · 09/01/2025 10:33

Mydahliasareshit · 08/01/2025 22:41

Having a punt that the Vicar is Francesca's mum, and Freddie is her grandson. The first 3-way!

I thought the one with pink hair looks quite like the vicar

vut seeing Freddie’s reaction to Francesca voting for him I reckon they are definitely mother and son. They’ve both said “he’s the same age as my kids” “she’s like a mother to me in here”. And Freddie CRUMBLED when she voted for him

TheWellSungGame · 09/01/2025 10:41

I reckon diplomat-Alexander and Charlotte 1) look very alike, 2) clicked extremely quickly (there's a scene where Charlotte is catching him up on events so far) and 3) if they're related, it would make the fake-Welsh accent into a more sensible strategic move.
