There's a really unpleasant vibe this series, much more than there has been in the past. It stems largely from Jake & Dan but others are easily led/drawn into it. Quite a lot of them also aren't very bright and feel threatened by and turn against those they perceive to be 'clever' like Kas.

I wonder if Dan is from the Wirral, I'm from there originally and a lot of people there have a very similar accent.

@EVHead Dd and I said exactly the same about Dan and Joe

We just refer to them both as Jan Doe as we never know which one it is

APushbikeNamedReluctance · 08/01/2025 23:16

Did he? Oh I thought that was one of the Twins JoeDan.

Please tell me he doesn't look like them also!!

He’s not dissimilar actually, but not quite as interchangeable

TokyoSushi · 08/01/2025 23:18

There's a Joe? I thought the 'twins' were Jake & Dan, oh my! It's like Ben Stiller & Adam Sandler!

It did make me laugh when Dan said earnestly that his autism meant he was all about the logic, and then when Anna asked him why he suspected her to be a Traitor he went on about how he just had a feeling which he had to follow.

Yes, DD(15), who is autistic, picked up on that: she thought an autistic person shouldn’t trust their gut feeling/wouldn’t have a gut feeling at all. Unless it was to find Anna’s dress sense annoying I guess.

intheaviary · 08/01/2025 23:19

Think you might be onto something with Freddie and Lisa. He came in and gave her a kiss on the cheek in tonight’s episode which I was thinking looked very familial at the time!

Oh no. I'm doomed!

Jan, Doe and Jake the triplets.

TokyoSushi · 08/01/2025 23:20

We could do with this as a pinned post!

It’s hard to not to see the unconscious bias. The banishment of Kasim was really upsetting.
Fozia was lovely to pick on how upset and defeated house. It must have been bad in the house for him to feel so ostracised.

Yes, agreed. It was interesting how on Uncloaked, Kas called her 'aunty' - as in a respectful term—and said he felt she had his back. It kind of highlighted the 'us and them' vibe that seems a bit prevelant?

Autistic people can absolutely have gut feelings!

I didn’t like Dan using his autism as an excuse to be a prick either. It sounds like he doesn’t have a bad grip on at least the theory behind what’s needed in terms of interpersonal relationships.

SabrinaToolmaker · 08/01/2025 23:20

With such a high number of potential candidates I genuinely don’t understand how they’ve ended up with Jake/Joe/Dan/insert whiny uncharismatic charmless young white man here. Like is there not a screen test of some kind?

Like others the ostracisation is terrible and I don’t remember it happening before. In the Australian series mentioned (which I’d recommend!) one of the contestants would sit down at breakfast and tell one of the others he thought he was a traitor and it was far less hostile than this.

LindorDoubleChoc · 08/01/2025 23:21

Thanks for answering about the shields ... I don't get it though! I don't understand his logic.

TokyoSushi · 08/01/2025 23:23

Oh it's Joe that I really don't like, and he's a teacher!

CaveMum · 08/01/2025 23:23

I think there’s a connection between Vicar and Freddie - he kissed her on the cheek as a greeting when she was sitting in one of the armchairs early in the episode and I just can’t see a 20yo lad doing that with a random older lady he met a few days ago. I’ve not seen him do that with any of the other women either. He also kept quietly glancing at her, or at least that is what the editing showed.

TellingBone · 08/01/2025 23:24

If they've recruited Fozia as a sacrificial lamb I think she'll be way ahead of them and start planting Linda seeds

APushbikeNamedReluctance · 08/01/2025 23:24

I think they need to be banished - make it easier for everyone.

Mediocre men with an undeserved egos and confidence, also seems to manage to not come under suspicious!!

FatAgain · 08/01/2025 23:27

the men are horrible on this one,
Like school bullies….

my son and I have been working out who would have been roughing up kids behind the bike shed and who would have been model pupils - easy to spot.

@TokyoSushi

I’m from the Wirral too and I also wondered if he was local….

CaveMum · 08/01/2025 23:28

LindorDoubleChoc · 08/01/2025 23:21

Thanks for answering about the shields ... I don't get it though! I don't understand his logic.

It’s about offering protection to as many people as possible - it was similar in S1 where the tasks where carried out in teams and the winning team got a chance to go into the Armoury and try to find a shield. They would go in one at a time to open a box but only 1 contained the shield. They could then decide to make it public that they had a shield or the group could agree that they would not tell anyone so that the Traitors wouldn’t know who was immune. It’s risky because if a Traitor is part of the group they would know who has it and killing off one of the assumed protected puts the suspicion on the remaining members.

Once there are a few less players the more observant will start to notice who keeps dodging the bullet and the suspicion will fall on them, as happened to Paul is S2.

APushbikeNamedReluctance · 08/01/2025 23:12

There's a Jake?!

Jakes the one who started the Armani chat at the previous round table because he believed he was going to get murdered/banished so had nothing to lose.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 08/01/2025 23:29

littlbrowndog · 08/01/2025 22:55

I don’t even know who jake is 🙈🤦‍♀️

When it came up on Uncloaked that Kas thought Jake was a traitor I did wonder who that was.

APushbikeNamedReluctance · 08/01/2025 23:30

With the overt emotions and love ins that we see, it's a lot to do with the environment they are in. Lots of waiting, lots of repetition and lots of suspicion mixed in with not a lot of sleep all while needing to make sure you play the game and don't lose.

Pretty sure there's been several players who spoke about it before.

Mind you, this is the third one, which tends to be about the time with reality show people go one to try get fame. There will be tears because they are at risk of leaving.

Appalonia · 08/01/2025 23:42

TokyoSushi · 08/01/2025 23:20

Just reading what Joe said what his tactics would be, and he said if he suspected someone was a traitor he'd try to befriend them. Well he certainly didn't do that with Kasim, did he?

TitsInAbsentia · 08/01/2025 23:44

dapsnotplimsolls · 08/01/2025 22:58

He's the one who said Linda right from the start.

But has me thinking at what point do they do an about turn and come back to Linda - surely it has to happen?!

EdithBond · 08/01/2025 23:44

CaveMum · 08/01/2025 22:50

Placemarking. Just finished watching tonight’s episode so going to stick Uncloaked on while I get ready for bed.

Sorry to see Kaz go, but once again demonstrating the power of “following the herd”.

Agree that it makes sense to recruit Anna or Freddie, but Minah needs to be careful as people with Shields can come under suspicion when there is no murder. It puts them on people’s radar as they start to question whether there was a genuine murder attempt or cover for a recruitment. She needs to hope that Leanne gets vocal about her own potential attempted murder so that she draws everyone’s gaze.

Good point. She’s a bit stuffed having got the shield, as she can’t even deflect by suggesting she may have been the murder victim, because everyone knew she was one of three who could have the shield. So The Traitors wouldn’t try to murder her.
