I think the choice of faithfuls - young, naive, not too bright, prone to drama and some downright unlikeable - is a deliberate choice by producers. They know what kind of game and mood they want to create.

Last year it was hard watching Harry blindside Mollie at the end as she was so trusting and he was too manipulative of her for my tastes. I think this year the producers are looking for a result that the viewers really get behind even if it's a traitor win. So the current Traitors were are not acting out of glee and doing much manipulation like Paul and Harry did and the many of the faithful are far less likable than the traitors. And then to top it off they had a task on Day 1 which removes three of the most self sacrificing people (which actually protected two of them from all the early 'no real reason' banishments.)

I think we will keep being told Fozia is on the murder shortlist but she will never actually be chosen by the Traitors for murder. She may even be recruited. Livi, Joe and other meanies will be culled in next few days and then next week it will get strategic as the brains of Fozia and Alex try to find Linda and Minah.

Lentilweaver · 10/01/2025 08:31

I wish Fozia hadn't confronted Linda. I would like her to stay. She's very different. And seems to be a keen observer.

If I never see Livi again it will be too soon. I really can't bear watching filler on TV.

If it is, it's yet another POC to go...

No, because she’s intelligent and pointing the finger at Linda.

But she also thinks Jake is on to her again and yet still isn’t going for him.

Tv is full of filler these days. I will actually give Liv a pass on hers though. It must be hard as a young woman to lose an eye so having tweaks and fillers even at a young age to enhance the rest of her face is understandable. I would probably think she looked better before if I saw a photo of her pre filler but hopefully it makes her feel better.

I also thought it was brave to do her in the castle shot without her prosthetic eye. I respect that.

Jake has publicity displayed that he thinks Linda is a traitor, Fozis hasn't. Getting rid of Jake would lead to Linda.

It is unfortunate that all the astute and emotionally intelligent people get murdered or banished because the others won't listen to their reasoning if they voice it (because they just get upset because they love/are friends with the person accused.)

Freddie was lucky than Leon and Leanne had enough wherewithal to assess their thinking and realise they were in fact within a clique and that they should consider those they "trusted". I mean it was an incorrect accusation but without they considering Freddie would be banished.

It would be a boring watch for us if everyone was assute and could consider others without being over getting emotional . Who would we be able to laugh at for not being able to figure out what we know. Plenty of people wouldnt enjoy it because there would be on one to call 'thick'.

Would love to know how we'd all view Linda's behaviour if we didn't know she was a traitor. I get a feeling we'd think she was a bit dramatic - but she' was an opera singer so what do you expect!

Lentilweaver · 10/01/2025 08:59

Last year was a great watch without everyone getting over emotional or crying.
I actually feel so strongly about all this crying that I may start a thread.

Monkeybutt1 · 10/01/2025 07:51

Yes when they were arguing and she could have her say but wouldn't let him talk. She's going to be gutted if he gets kicked out and is a faithful.

I agree re: Livi. She is very emotionally immature and won’t allow the people she accuses of having their say or making any observations about her or her clique. Plus she doesn’t bring any observations of her own - the Freddie suspicions she got from Maia and has never let it drop - maybe because she can’t think analytically for herself. I really hope she is killed as she doesn’t bring much to the game except drama. I don’t think the traitors will though as they will want to keep the rest of that clique in to see if the group persist on thinking one of them is a traitor.

APushbikeNamedReluctance · 10/01/2025 09:00

All that said, I'm absolutely loving how they are banishing the wrong person so frequently.

Absolutely want Minah and Linda to win.

“ I don’t think the traitors will though as they will want to keep the rest of that clique in to see if the group persist on thinking one of them is a traitor.”

…which is quite clever play.

Her clothing choices and those amazing blue eyes!

Oh yes, those blue eyes. Like half the Irish population!

There was cryimg and emotion last year.

Harry cried at one point.

That's almost inevitable. The vast majority of players are Faithful. They're a bit unusual having got a Traitor so early!

It's a headfuck. Everyone denies being a Traitor, but remember that almost everyone who says it is telling the truth. There's actually more truth telling going on in there than lying.

Also I think it does show there's not a lot they can go on.

All the "obvious" things we see, we see as obvious purely and simply because we know who the traitors are.

He cried to win people over and conceal his identity! Just as Minah is doing. That's game play.
Crying like a toddler on the train before anyone is murdered is just silly.

Edited

Exactly.

They go on gut instinct and silly reasons because, for all the talk about strategy etc, for the Faithfuls there is actually very little opportunity to do that. There is the occasional time when you can use reason (ARGH MOLLIE, I'M STILL NOT OVER IT!!!) but for a huge part, especially in the early stages when there are lots of people still, it really does come down to "who do you believe" and that's not easy. We've seen plenty of people get banished because people thought their reactions were wrong, but they were sincere. It's not easy to tell when someone's lying. If it were, we'd have no miscarriages of justice and perfect convictions. Even lie detector tests aren't reliable. They pick up on stress responses...being accused of something you haven't done is stressful, and some people are very very calm liars.

At the later game stages with fewer people, there's a bit more to go on because it's easier to see what's happening but even then you can't be sure. Something to look out for is a strong alliance between two people, because people who attach themselves to a Traitor don't get murdered. But even then you can't be certain.

I do get a bit frustrated that for the most part it honestly is just guesswork. I wonder if they could adapt it in future so that there are clues laid somehow.

Snowmanscarf · 10/01/2025 09:17

I think the only clue we had this year was Maia realising that her sister’s behaviour was off.

SabrinaToolmaker · 10/01/2025 01:23

I salute Livi for showing herself without her prosthetic eye in. I can’t salute any of her behaviour mind.

I think Alex looks like a young James McAvoy. Also Leon reminds me of an actor type but I can’t think who.

You mean Alexander, the ex-diplomat. Alex is the care home manager from Glasgow who as yet has hardly ever been heard speaking.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/01/2025 09:20

Another rule I'd have if I was doing the casting - the group should include people who aren't just easy to tell apart from each other by appearance and voice, but also name! Joe/Jack/Jake - asking for trouble! Alex and Alexander, Lisa and LInda, Leanne and Livi - ditto.

Anyone else find the task bits really dull? I skip through them.

The fun house had some potential but after the initial jump scare it was dull. A series of puzzles would have been better but I guess that would have been very complex.

Do people think they'll do that funeral task again where a Faithful somehow gets killed in a slow acting way so they don't know about it until the next day?

Definitely find them less interesting but I like trying to work out if the Traitors are giving any slips or clues. Armani insisting there were four portraits for eg to sabotage the task. It’s interesting that the contestants seem to be more motivated by shields than money this year too.

Same. Unless it's very relevant to the story/dynamics e.g. getting the new group members this week, then we skip to the minibus chat on the way back. Don't need a chunk of Fort Boyard in the midst of the drama, though I can see why they need it for the format.

I love what a PP said about how Linda can and should murder Jake now and make out she's being framed, but fear there's no way she'd either think of this nor be able to pull it off. Simply by accusing her, he's made himself untouchable which sucks. That's why he'd have made a smarter choice as a recruited traitor than the dumb options they came up with.
