Has anyone else watched it as confused to why Nathan and Hannah’s other two children weren’t at the wedding ? Or did I miss them ! Or did I imagine them in the previous series’s ! I did skip some of it and may have not been fully concentrating but they didn’t appear to be at their sister’s wedding!

I've just watched it.
They were travelling and in Koh Samui I think they said.

That explains it, thought I must have missed it!

It did (very briefly) get touched on during a conversation between Hannah and Archie, but by that point I’d been wondering where on earth they were for some time.

Glad it wasn’t just me then !!

Is Gael Spanish now?

I thought he was Argentinian?

willstarttomorrow · 29/12/2024 20:39

I think there is some poetic license used to make this special happen. Just happy to have it back- although very briefly.

warmbath · 29/12/2024 22:06

I find all the characters quite unpleasant and only watched it for the sunshine

Wow, I feel the opposite. I absolutely love all of these characters, flaws and all.

SemperIdem · 29/12/2024 22:16

I like most of the characters, except Nina. I can’t imagine being related to someone like her, she’s insufferable.

foyc · 29/12/2024 22:17

So I'm confused, the Spanish dad is having an affair and proposed to her, and she turned up to his son's wedding pretending to be the family lawyer's fiancée?!

Violetparis · 29/12/2024 22:42

I can't stand Ruth, not sure why but she really irritates me.

Cynic17 · 29/12/2024 22:52

The problem with The Split is that Nathan and Hannah should never have divorced! They still love each other, and get on well. Nathan even tolerates Hannah's awful family. So, lovely as Toby Stephens is, having Hannah mooning about over him is unconvincing.

It would be a much better, more interesting, more realistic ending to have Hannah happily single, but they are obsessed with everyone being coupled up in this show.

CharlotteRumpling · 29/12/2024 23:05

Was looking for a spoiler thread so I can discuss just how rubbish this sequel was. So disappointed.
As pp said, Gael was Argentinian, so how has he suddenly metamorphosised into a rich Spanish bloke.
Ridiculous storyline with that woman turning up pretending to be Toby's fiancee. What?
Nathan was already terrified by his accidental baby last series, so he had one more at that age? Hated how miserable they made him.
Hated that Rose apparently has no option but to adopt the vicar's passel of kids and then get pregnant by him, so she is even more chained to the vicarage.
Nina suddenly decided to turn lesbian on the spot?
What was even the point of Julian?
And lastly, Hannah's wardrobe was crap.

CharlotteRumpling · 29/12/2024 23:07

Also, Tilly and Vincent can't be more than 13-16- it's only 2 years later-but they have gone travelling in Koh Samui? Were the scriptwriters on glue? Couldn't they just have left them with a friend or something.

Moveoverdarlin · 29/12/2024 23:07

I’ve always really liked it, but I thought it was a bit crap tonight really.

drspouse · 29/12/2024 23:08

I'm a bit confused about how old the youngest sister is supposed to be.
Either she's pregnant in her 40s or their mum had her in her 40s (and Hannah in her 20s).

drspouse · 29/12/2024 23:10

@CharlotteRumpling the vicar is nice and she's never been much of a career woman. It's fairly usual to adopt the children of a widow(er) I think as otherwise they only have one parent which would be odd if their surviving parent was married - awkward for school permissions etc.

Libertysparkle · 29/12/2024 23:12

I did think they had more kids. Loved it. Sad it's the end. I need to watch all series again now.

CharlotteRumpling · 29/12/2024 23:15

@drspouse I don't think the vicar is all that nice. I think he saw Rose as an easy opportunity to dump his kids on in the last series where he kept asking her to babysit. Was hoping she would have moved on by now.

I did like the minor twist where the Spanish wife used the loophole cliff edge thing in the pre-nup, having carefully saved the napkin all those years.

Gael and Olivia reminded me of the feckless weepy couple in Mamma Mia, desperate to get married.

LadyWhitwell · 29/12/2024 23:17

I didn't know this was on? Is Christie in it?

No, he has wisely decided to stay clear of this hot mess, like Kim Cattrall did with AJLT.

Thank you! I will not bother with it then 😊

Oh don't go by my opinion; maybe I am too picky.

I did like the scenery. It was nice to see Nathan again, even though I don't like what they have done with his character. If only he had used condoms, I think Nathan and Hannah would still be together.

No worries. I only watched for Christie. I had a crush on him 🙈

AsWithGlad · 29/12/2024 23:29

Hannah seemed significantly older than her sisters tonight to me. Did anyone else feel the same? I know she’s the oldest but not from a different generation.

I assumed Nina was bi rather than lesbian.

Also, is Gael’s father’s fancy piece really his fiancée, and what’s the significance of her very expensive ring if not?

Are we being led to think Nathan and Hannah will get back again? I have avoided episode 2 on iPlayer and want to wait until tomorrow to find out definitely, but would welcome opinions from anyone who hasn’t seen it.
