Welcome to the EastEnders spoilers thread, where we post and talk about any EE spoilers we've read about, including those in early release episodes on iPlayer.

Link below to watch episodes on BBC iPlayer - these are usually dropped at 6am on broadcast days - and you can read brief synopses of upcoming episodes:

Won't miss Ruby tbh
Seems half the cast prefer other jobs these days ! Maybe EE doesn't pay that well ? ..

Ruby will be leaving soon (again).

Good. Can't see the point in her character returning full time.

Meredusoleil · 13/12/2024 18:23

EE used to be a launch pad for wannabe actors, but now it seems more like a stop gap for those who are waiting for something else to come along 🤔

gingercat02 · 13/12/2024 18:34

I hoped Ruby was only a brief return. Never really liked the character, and I think the actress is weak.
I don't think Linda will die, I think she will disappear with half the cellar in her bag. She's not ready for rehab.
I have really enjoyed the story even though it's sad.
I'm glad Lauren washed her pills away. I hope baby Beale is OK.
I'm looking forward to the usual Christmas drama

the80sweregreat · 13/12/2024 18:43

It'll be so sad if Linda only goes off with her bottles and not to get proper help for her addiction ;(

I randomly saw Martin on a daytime house buying show this morning so they must have little sidelines here and there

I wonder if the actors only get paid when they actually appear on screen? I was reading that is the way Coronation Street works so some of the actors earn a pittance as they only have 1 or 2 storylines and very few scenes. I think some of the more established ones on Corrie have negotiated a set salary but I was surprised to read how much (or how little) even they earn.

Shellingbynight · 13/12/2024 21:42

Ruby could be on a break to do the stage show - she'd be away for less time than Sonia (or Reiss or Bianca!) But I guess she won't stay on the square if she realises Martin is conning her.

If Linda disappears with half the cellar in her bag, she'll be dead by Friday. I think she'll go to rehab.

If I got a job in Eastenders I would be hanging on to it for dear life. Look at the likes of Phil, Ian (sorry too tired to type actual names). They must be quids in. Think about all the younguns that have gone off to start acting careers elsewhere? Can anybody name a notable one?

Steve McFadden and Adam Woodyatt it just came to me 😀

They must have made millions off their roles - I don't understand why it's something to be looked down on??

the80sweregreat · 14/12/2024 06:34

Wow , those old episodes
Jane was a stunner back then .. I really didn't remember how nice she was

I agree. Same for Sharon and Kathy who have been in it since the start.

She really was!
In 2006, she was having an affair with Grant - who knew! (NOT me 😂)

Watching all the old episodes has been such a revelation.

the80sweregreat · 14/12/2024 07:40

Jane was so pretty back then
Ian hasn't changed at all really !
Seems Linda goes off drinking even more ( according to spoilers on line )
So sad :(

I'd love to be a bit part regular 😅
I would love to get behind the Queen Vic and yell "Get outtaaah ma pub!" 😆

the80sweregreat · 14/12/2024 07:53

I'd also love a tour of the set ! I don't think they do them though

the80sweregreat · 14/12/2024 07:55

Being a soap actor must be hard work and long days , learning lines etc
Certainly not something I look down on
I'd have loved to have been an actress though ( probably been rubbish at it though )

Southeastdweller · 14/12/2024 08:22

I’m not sure about Adam Woodyatt (Ian) being quids in. He recently divorced his wife of 24 years.

Probably the most successful of all the ex-EE actors is Sue Tully who’s been directing for a long time. Martine McCutcheon did amazingly for a few years (Love Actually, a no 1 single, an Olivier award).

I wonder how much the extras get paid. Especially the ones who occasionally have lines and have been there for years, like Winston and Shrimpy.

the80sweregreat · 14/12/2024 08:54

Steve McFadden is a millionaire ( according to the tabloids anyway )
I'm sure the younger ones / extras aren't paid as well
Tough business

Shellingbynight · 14/12/2024 09:01

All of the long timers (Kathy, Sharon, Phil, Ian) have had long breaks apart from Phil. Kathy was dead for years 😆I think it's quite a gruelling schedule. Unless you're Bianca, unseen in a lock up with a bucket of course.

Quite a few ex -EEs have done well. Ross Kemp has made a good career out of whatever those documentaries are! Ben Hardy (one of the Peter Beales) has done pretty well. Lucy Benjamin worked a lot since EE, I loved her in the Detectorists. And the lovely Michael French was in Casualty/Holby for years.

Eastie77Returns · 14/12/2024 12:20

I think some young stars who have visions of making it big see EE as something they do to kickstart their career and then look down on it a bit as they think only the big screen or theatre is ‘real’ acting. There were rumours that that lad who played Jamie (Sonia’s husband who died) was a bit like that and got too big for his boots.

This weeks episdoes were really good. I liked the way they showed 3 characters dealing with addiction battles. I was convinced Phil was going to drink. Gosh Nicola really is a wrong’un and actually quite evil. So now Lauren has felt the baby kick and washed the pills down the sink…does that mean Cindy has lost her hold over her. I saw in the spoilers that someone finds the recording and starts blackmailing her. I think it will be one of the Gina or Anna.

Shellingbynight · 14/12/2024 13:55

Oh yes - 'Jamie' then married and divorced Kym from Hearsay. He's actually doing well now though (stage acting and directing).

Will Lauren manage to get through the withdrawal? I hope so, she saw what addiction had done to Linda.

Eastie77Returns · 14/12/2024 18:23

I completely forgot he married the Hear’say woman😂

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/12/2024 18:30

The actor who played Sean Slater has done pretty well in the USA
And Nigel was in Holby (cannot look up real names )

NowNumber5 · 15/12/2024 09:49

Jill Halfpenny has done well. She won the second series of SCD and went onto Waterloo Road.

Those early Christmas episodes are great! Sharon is so fresh faced and Grant and Phil actually had hair 😆

ETA - and so much smoking! 😨

Shellingbynight · 15/12/2024 10:34

I don't think anyone has posted about the 40th anniversary fire yet? There have been vague reports about it but the Mail now has photos. The photos look like early stage, as the Vic is still standing. Someone on DS reckons the car is Reiss's Volvo (I have no idea, I can't remember what car he has).

Queen Vic explosion set to rock EastEnders' 40th anniversary special

It's the long-running soap which, since its earliest days in 1985, has seen murders, fires and more than its fair share of cliff-hangers.
