I'm not really sure I understand what you mean. Exploitative and pointless? It's a soap opera... there's no point to any of it and nobody is being exploited as they aren't real people.

I wished that maybe the two women were staying overnight in the hotel to get ready the next day and the drinks were put out for them in another dressing room or something like that rather than them sneaking off , which felt really weird. Nugget could have told Nish the arrangements by accident or something

Toad I meant it felt like the viewers were being exploited, it felt like misery porn. And it was pointless because ultimately nothing has changed except Nish died and he was at death's door anyway. Of course there's going to be drama, it's EastEnders, but this one felt like an over egged misfire to me.

Stacey only wants Martin when someone else does - especially if it's Ruby!

Martins little chat on his mobile with Rubes was so ordinary and he said the kind of things you say as well. It is unusual to see or hear something like that on a soap
Tiny bit of realism amongst the angst

Really liked seeing Priya without make up in the morning before the wedding and afterwards cleaning up the flat with Nugget playing more of a role being a mum rather than just being confrontational and sassy.

Priya is so attractive and her quick thinking there may have saved Nuggets bacon. Even if I think his sister might dob him in over time !
Priya and Ravi are good together I think
I can see Dee going back to Jack and Jack tbh.
He'll probably look after her for a while in order to win her back

Maybe that's it! Stacey's exit will be a massive bi-polar episode which leads to her being sectioned for awhile?

Surely Nugget wouldn’t get in that much trouble. He is about 14/15 and was totally manipulated by his evil grandfather. Really another abusive relationship

Did Suki ever tell Eve it was Nish behind her mums attack ? I think she did , but can't remember.

I'm late to the party re;New Year's Day episode, but what was going through my mind was how very exclusive and expensive the wedding venue looked.
As a pp has pointed out, it's a drama, they are not real people (!) but Suki walked away from Nish with nothing in the divorce settlement, as he was blackmailing her, and Eve is a failed solicitor working at Stacey's Baps ! who would have paid for this venue and the lovely outfits, both brides looked beautiful, I liked Suki's blue and silver sari.
Over the years, the producers have portrayed the characters' struggles with lack of money, do you remember when Denise was starving and gave away her food bank parcel ?

I've just seen your post from earlier today. asking how that do would have been paid for ! Also, in a previous episode, Denise snogged Ravi, and she has seen him on a video killing the man he previously thought was his father !

At the end of tonight's I felt a sense of, they got there in the end. There were a few odd bits, like how they paid for the wedding and Priya bleaching! Surely the police will know the place had been bleached and that Nish was hardly gonna bleach the place before he went to the wedding.

I wonder if Martin is trying to trick Ruby and he isn't telling Stacey because she blabbed before. The problem is that Ruby is probably playing him aswell.

The end made me cry! So glad they survived! Suki is a fab character - so flawed, nasty, conniving & yet loveable & you want her to win (at least I do!). She looked amazing in her wedding dress!

It's a long shot , but maybe Eve's parents helped with the wedding costs?
Or the rest of Suki's relatives clubbed together?
I'd have left the flat alone personally.
Any lawyer could argue that Nugget could have been in it at any time , plus would they go that far to look for prints etc? ..
Although I can see why Priya did it though.
I hope she is featured more this year as I like her and she's a good actress

Why is Ruby playing Martin?
He went through the op and Roman is saved now. Once she's out , she could go back to her old life.
Does she just want him to pay for everything ?
She is on her uppers a bit , so could just be this or the thought of a home back in the square ?
Money ? Although his hardly loaded is he!
Too many children wanting his cash and lots of baggage. His hardly a catch really

I think this is pretty standard practice too. We didn't because our wedding took place at various places across London throughout the day, but I know lots of people who have when they've got married in a hotel. Why wouldn't you!

I don't think Martin is playing Ruby. I think he really likes her, and he doesn't really have any reason to.

I thought it was a good follow up to last night, I agree with PP who said 'they got there in the end'! I loved Suki’s line - "we win". The cleaning up of the hovel was … interesting (stupid!)

I hope Ravi gets together with Priya, they are a much better couple than Ravi and Dee. I really like Priya now. Actually I can’t think of anyone who would work with Denise tbh.

(OH has thought of a drug Nish could have used - atropine. It can be used in heart failure so the dodgy doc could feasibly have given it to him. In overdose it could have caused Eve’s symptoms, it is tasteless and it does have an antidote. It’s derived from Belladonna, beloved of medieval poisonings.)

I think this is most likely. After the wedding day, her mum losing all her money, and losing Martin to Ruby I think it wouldn't be unlikely that she'd experience a bpd relapse.

I think that Martin is playing Ruby to get on the birth certificate and fight for custody. I think Ruby is playing Martin just to get back at Stacey, she's the type to hold a grudge and wants the upper hand, even if it is childish or maybe she just wants to keep Martin on side until Roman is well enough for her to run off with him.
Weirdly I agreed with Stacey when she said Ruby was dressed up! Ruby was dressed up in comparison to how she has been and she was there to pursue Martin.
We know Ruby isn't hanging around for long so her and Martin aren't going to live happily ever after.
Stacey could leave due to bi polar, I can see that working but I haven't seen any real crazed moments in her yet. She would definitely have reason to have a relapse after all the issues with Theo, Keanu, Jack, Martin, Ruby, Jean and Eve but surely she would have broken down by now?

Of course people sleep together in a hotel after a wedding , but not just after the actual ceremony and before anyone has had any food ! They went off to the room almost immediately after the vows..

Still, it was for plot purposes, so maybe I should let it go!
