Welcome to the EastEnders spoilers thread, where we post and talk about any EE spoilers we've read about, including those in early release episodes on iPlayer.

Link below to watch episodes on BBC iPlayer - these are usually dropped at 6am on broadcast days - and you can read brief synopses of upcoming episodes:

I thought Martin was great with Lily the other day, when she freaked out over the liver donation.
I like his friendship with Zack too.

Cindy is absolutely awful isn't she!
I was laughing at Ian just standing there like a spare part when Louie came running over to Peter after his "Gran" had rescued him from the fire.
As if you would just stand there and not go running to hug your grandson! What a plonker.
The whole fire thing was a bit weird.
Over with so quickly. And Cindy being the hero of the hour 😅
Poor Elaine.
I'm also hoping she will be the one to bring down the House of Beale.

the80sweregreat · 19/12/2024 16:28

Elaine might have to fight for her man a bit
George might be the only one to feel sorry for her .. they have the girls and history together and the others will disown her and Junior too.
She'll probably go and visit Cindy jnr in Germany once she is slung out into the fake snow ❄️

the80sweregreat · 19/12/2024 16:36

Watched some of the Christmas of 05 today and Martin was being a pain over Becks and Sonia and very sulky ( old head Martin )
His grown up since I suppose , but I've never been a fan of his

Ficklemind · 19/12/2024 16:38

Was Todd Carty the original Martin or am I getting confused?

NowNumber5 · 19/12/2024 16:42

Todd Carty was Martin's older brother Mark Fowler I think.

@the80sweregreat I agree, Martin was a bit of a twat in the past!

the80sweregreat · 19/12/2024 16:42

Todd Carty played Mark Fowler

the80sweregreat · 19/12/2024 16:43

I liked the very original Mark , he had ' something of the night about him '
Sadly , he died in real life

Ficklemind · 19/12/2024 17:23

Oh yes, thanks I'd forgotten about Mark.
I hope Martin doesn't die in the 40th anniversary.
How is Stacey going to leave EE when Lacey Turner has her baby? Either she goes back to prison, goes into a coma or she takes her children with her somewhere, she wouldn't leave them.
What is Bianca's state of mind going to be like when she gets out of that lock up? Horrible to think she's still in there.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/12/2024 17:32

Caught up-
Loved that Zac brought grapes for Martin ( who runs a Fruit'nVeg Stall) when he could've cooked something .......fir Martin who was on sips of water only .

Nothing to do with the plot but our little boy cat was very excited by the birdsong playlist ..... Bless

the80sweregreat · 19/12/2024 18:31

I know it's only a soap and it's far fetched much of the time, but the time and attention given over to these birdsong CDs and the recording of them previously isn't really something young people like Anna and Fred are into is it? 😆
I don't know any , any twitchers I know tend to be older folk
It's just another twist on Sharon gate and the Stacey / max tapes !
They like a recording

the80sweregreat · 19/12/2024 18:45

Maybe Stacey and some of her kids will visit 'the Wendy's ' !! They sometimes go off to Clacton ( Jean knows them, they are her friends really ) Or another spat with Ruby and back in prison ? Must be a nightmare writing people out for a long stint

Southeastdweller · 19/12/2024 19:23

Perhaps she’ll decide to reconcile with Sean and stay with him, or stay with her other brother, Kyle.

@the80sweregreat I'm pretty sure James Alexandrou who played old head Martin is alive and well? Not sure if that's a bit of an urban legend

I also started to feel sorry for Lauren and can't stand Peter. He talks without opening his mouth properly and it annoys the hell out of me

I really hope this is the end of Cindy - she deserves a comeuppance

Anyonecanfallinlove · 19/12/2024 19:32

If the maternity break is only 6 months, that'll be easy to cover. Characters have weeks not on screen when the storylines are based on other characters and it can also be quickly covered with x is busy with the kids etc. If it's 12 months or more then there will need to be some kind of exit story. I really hope it's not prison, again. What will happen to the bap van? She will lose her space on the market.
I'd like Stacey and Martin back together, they could be the new Pauline and Arthur

the80sweregreat · 19/12/2024 19:38

I meant that the one who played the original Mark Fowler sadly died in real life :(
Todd Carty took over from him.

NeighbourHitMyCar · 19/12/2024 19:41

@the80sweregreat no, my mistake-you said exactly what you were thinking and I misread!!

the80sweregreat · 19/12/2024 19:48

I do remember the original Mark actor dying as it was all over the tabloids at the time
He was pretty good as the older brother but troubled and a bit brooding

MichaelAndEagle · 19/12/2024 21:26

How/when did Pauline leave? I assume she's dead but I don't remember what happened to her?
I stopped watching for a good few years in the naughties, and was sporadic late 90s to be honest!

Anyonecanfallinlove · 19/12/2024 21:43

Pauline died one christmas of a brain haemorrhage, there was some fight going on with Sonia I think.

the80sweregreat · 19/12/2024 22:05

Didn't Sonia hit Pauline with a fruit bowl or something like that ?
I remember glass everywhere

She gave her a proper Eastenders slap and Pauline fell and hit her head . ( I dont think Sonias career in Nursing would've been helped if an assault on her MIL was on her DBS ) Pauline skelped Arthurs across the head with a frying pan though ...

Pauline was all set to go off to the USA (with Betty) to live with Michelle but she collapsed in the gardens in the snow , with poor Betty hovering like Greyfriars Bobby .

NowNumber5 · 19/12/2024 22:15

Kellie Bright is on The Great British Sewing Bee Christmas Special, looking fabulous 👌
I hope Linda comes back from rehab in full glam mode.

Shellingbynight · 19/12/2024 22:18

The fire was really odd, we never saw a single flame, and none of the other residents were bothered. We didn't even see a fire engine did we?

Lauren is so awful I actually felt sorry for Cindy. For a moment.😆

The birdsong thing is so weird. Apart from the idea of Bobby caring about a robin singing, why haven't he and Anna heard Cindy and David talking?

MichaelAndEagle · 19/12/2024 22:42

Ah right, I don't remember any of that. Pauline was one of the great iconic characters i think.

Bunionbabe · 19/12/2024 22:42

I love the way characters in EE - Martin, Jean, Junior etc - offer relationship advice and lifestyle counselling to whoever is moping about looking miserable. This is despite the huge balls-ups they've made of their own lives. Poor Kojo is being played by everyone around him. Also, I have decided I can't stand Mo. She's vile, hideous, and crude. What is she for?
