Anyone starting this today? All 6 episodes released today.
It's with Keira Knightley, Ben Wishaw and Sarah Lancashire - spy thriller.

I've started the first episode but had to stop and may go back to it tomorrow.

@Middlemarch123 'lighthearted'?? Not sure about that!
I'm only two episodes in and though Sarah Lancashire would have a bigger role - at the moment it could be played by anyone.
Love Ben as always and think Kiera is doing fine.

mrsnjw · 07/12/2024 07:12

Started this last night. On episode four. Good so far!

paranoidnamechanger · 07/12/2024 07:43

On episode 5 and thoroughly enjoying it so far. It’s exciting, witty, well paced and the performances by all are great.

Can you imagine the BBC or ITV doing something as well crafted as this?

BlastedPimples · 07/12/2024 09:30

Is it meant to be comedy?

I'm enjoying it but it is ludicrous.

airingcupboards · 07/12/2024 09:53

I enjoyed it, don't think it was meant to be realistic but it was funny and entertaining.

I loved the locations they chose and also the daft fact it was Christmas!

MistletoeRegrets · 07/12/2024 10:05

It was saccharine to the point of toothache. KK’s character’s family appeared to be richer than the Sunaks, judging by the palatial residence they inhabited. Her husband seemed to lack brains or drive or creative thought - so perhaps one shouldn’t wonder how he’d risen so high in the Conservative Party …

Listening to the two main actresses on Women’s Hour last week it was clear the show was meant to be light and frothy - but last night I could hardly keep from guffawing at some supposedly tense and thrilling scenes.

Williams was fun, though.

BurntBroccoli · 07/12/2024 11:52

Up to episode 6
I love the hit girls and the scenes with Sam - very funny in places and relieves the dark mood.
Keira Knightley is good - really not keen on Sarah Lancashire character though and think she's a bit wooden (sorry fans!).
Wardrobe is great and Kiera wears some lovely clothes!

Newgirls · 07/12/2024 13:06

I think Keira is brilliant in this. Picked for her looks for the role and shows grit. Perfect casting. Really enjoying it all so far and London looks amazing

IcedPurple · 07/12/2024 13:26

People on TV always seem to live in houses they could never come close to affording in real life.

LoafofSellotape · 07/12/2024 13:54

I think I've given up after two episodes.

MistletoeRegrets · 07/12/2024 15:19

I’d keep going, @LoafofSellotape - if only for Ben Wishaw’s character. His story is the more enthralling and absorbing. (Though occasionally hilarious.)

thesagarollson · 07/12/2024 16:14

I absolutely loved it , the right level
of drama and humour for this time of year was spot on.

Yes agree - it did get better after the first 2 episodes.

MistletoeRegrets · 07/12/2024 16:45

I have to say it’s surprising that this was created by the same person who made Giri/Haji - that was a work of near genius, whereas this is … fluff. And not always terribly convincing.

I only hope they’ve been able to recycle what looked like the entire world’s supply of fairy lights …

She really winds me up too. I don't think I've liked her in anything before, but I liked her in this.

She’s such a bad actor

tennissquare · 07/12/2024 17:55

I've finished it now. I thought it was ok, watchable, a notch below Slow Horses and the day of a jackal.
But it was nice to be able to binge watch.

Watched it today - stuck indoor, howling winds and needed something to wrap presents to.

Both dd and I love slow horses and agree it's not a patch on that but it was engaging and silly and looked great. We liked Sam, the hit girls and Sam and Helen's friendship.

I always love Sarah Lancashire but got a bit bored with her popping up all the time.

I felt quite sorry for Wallace. He seemed quite genuine surrounded by people lying to him.

Found the last episode interminable. It took like 20 mins to wrap up.

But I'd watch a second series.

the80sweregreat · 07/12/2024 18:54

Sarah lancashire looks a bit wooden at times
Channelling her inner Helen Mirran

She’s such a bad actor

I don’t see that myself 😮

Izzy24 · 07/12/2024 21:18

Should be called Spying Actually …

CountTo10 · 07/12/2024 22:25

I enjoyed it. Mindless escapism and London looked lovely.

However was totally distracted by Keira's 'twins'. I did hear right? They were meant to be twins? The girl looked about 3 years older than the boy?

the80sweregreat · 07/12/2024 22:27

London does look lush !

Princessfluffy · 07/12/2024 22:27

Distinctly mediocre
I like that it's set in London but it's very lack lustre in terms of plot and characters.

mamaduckbone · 07/12/2024 22:28

Thought it looked good but generally I can't stand Keira knightly as an actress so haven't started it.

Supersimkin7 · 07/12/2024 22:38

That’s two coats I want now:

A) Keira’s trench 🧥 and her orange scarf 🧣

B) Demi Moore’s egg yolk yellow overcoat in The Substance.

Better than Grazia, streaming this week.
