Yes!

spanieleyes22 · 25/11/2024 08:18

What did you think. I thought it was very good. I was convinced he was guilty until Ollie said he was just a "kind human". Just shows how manipulative abusers can be. Thought the ending was good. What did u think !

One of the best things on tv for a long time.

nokidshere · 25/11/2024 17:59

I've just finished ep2 and really enjoying it!

I really enjoyed it and the last episode was a real jaw dropper. Excellent acting all round. Fantastic to see ordinary middle aged people looking like real people. Robyn Malcolm and Peter Mullen were outstanding in the lead roles. (Lots of boys with very long hair in NZ though)

iwantavuvezela · 25/11/2024 20:22

Absolutely loved it - , hard watching and hard to know what had happened. Agree unmanresources, that it was good to see middle aged people looking like themselves! I was devastated when she slept with her friends husband/partner . Robyn Malcolm was unbelievable in it .

Sidebeforeself · 26/11/2024 09:57

I enjoyed it but thought it was a bit slow. Did realise they are a couple in real life though! Also didnt see the relevance of her being a nude model?

Piemam · 26/11/2024 12:33

Wasn't expecting that ending at all! Was shocking after everything else. Did think what's he up to, suggesting a party? Maybe he wants to frame her, humiliate her?

@Sidebeforeself I thought about that, reckon it's just a way to show you that's she's a free spirit, not at all prudish and part of showing that's she's a feminist.

Anjelika · 27/11/2024 15:28

I finished it earlier this week and thought it was good. I wasn't sure why she was trying so hard to save him at the end - unless it was just so she could see him properly brought to justice and made to pay for his crimes. I was shocked about the identity of his main victim though. Talk about hiding in plain sight!

Fatyorkshirerascal · 27/11/2024 15:32

I loved this - finished it last night.

I felt she tried to save Phil so that Tom didn't have that on his concience and Police record!

Did he abuse Oli though and he minimised it through shame about his sexuality or was Phil merely a bit creepy with him?

Only thing I thought was missing was that you didn't know why Penny was so sure in her reading of the situation - must have been more than the wrong underpants he bought home one time.

Blimeyitscold · 27/11/2024 23:24

I’d forgotten about the underpants!

napody · 28/11/2024 21:39

I think he did abuse Oli but Oli had complicated feelings about it at the time due to his sexuality. And when he saw the photo at the end he was finally able to recognise that he was a child and it was wrong.

It was so good.

I kept thinking about the underpants! I don't think she had any other evidence, just a gut feeling. But when she wouldn't even admit she was wrong when she punched that guy at the basketball game I started to doubt her as I thought if she can't at least admit that was misjudged, maybe she can't admit when she's wrong...

The horrible part was catching yourself almost hoping she was right... then feeling so guilty!

I really thought Tom was going to kill himself which was very upsetting... glad I was wrong about that.

Agree that she was trying to save him for Tom's sake.

I agree! There was definitely a sense of vindication in the last episode when he was revealed to be an abuser but also so horrible to see the impact on Tom and truly sicknening to hear Phil try to justify it.
It was an amazing series with a fabulous cast. Apparently the actor playing Grace was straight out of drama school.

napody · 28/11/2024 21:47

Oh she was excellent. She reminded me a little of Andie McDowells daughter in The Cleaner (where she was a much better actor than AMD already!)

Everyone was amazing- even Walt!! He was incredible, he actually seemed to be acting unless they were just so skilled at capturing his natural lovely quirky behaviour!

pinkchampagne1 · 28/11/2024 21:59

I have just finished it tonight. I thought there would be a twist but wasn’t expecting Tom to be a victim.
Once we started it we had to binge watch to find it out what was going to happen. It was a really good series.

honeylulu · 29/11/2024 23:49

I finished watching it tonight too. I was expecting a twist after Penny apologised for being "wrong". Though I thought the actual victim would be revealed as Zach. I didn't guess Tom.

I still think it was inferred that Phil had also abused Zach. Did anyone else think that?

Very good series, great acting though uncomfortable subject matter.

It was to protect Tom,she thought she'd failed him when he was young and didn't want him to go down for it.

The photo- what was it of,did we see? I kept pausing and trying to see.

MabelMora · 29/11/2024 23:53

It was a younger Tom, naked, sitting on a bed looking like he was trying to push the camera away.

I agree with this. The way all Oli's flamboyance and bravado deserted him and he looked so young and vulnerable in that moment.

I binged the whole lot but wish there could've just been a little bit more showing us the outcome, whether it was ruled that Phil drowned in a surfing accident or if there was suspicion or want accidental. Whether they got away with it, essentially.

Very disappointed with Penny shagging Simon (and disappointed in Simon too obviously) although it was practically signposted in neon that it was going to happen.

LightSpeeds · 30/11/2024 00:00

I've watched two episodes and I don't think the evidence for him being guilty is very strong, so far...

Looking forward to watching the rest of it.

I disagree, the ending was perfect. Far too often everything is wrapped up neatly in a bow with no ambiguity, drives me potty!

happinessischocolate · 30/11/2024 00:34

I really enjoyed the whole thing except the ending.

She would have struggled to drag his body out of the sea before trying to resuscitate him and there's no way she could have launched the canoe and got his body on it too.

Story and acting was amazing though.

wavingfuriously · 30/11/2024 01:41

Yeah brilliant wasn't it! hoping 4 will buy in more series like this 🙏 and also refreshing to see different actors
