Although the BBC have made a huge mistake in taking away our show, Classic Doctors is shown on U.

Two episodes are available daily, and are also on the app but are removed after a certain amount of time. Earlier episodes can be found on YouTube.

Typical of the BBC, they don’t care about us.

Binglebong · 18/11/2024 20:00

I was annoyed earlier because I was out when Doctors was on. Then I realised I wasn't. Sad

Edited for typo.

Yeah.
Missing it all.

Ladyswhatlunch · 18/11/2024 22:30

Tuning into Doctors was so familiar and comforting, like seeing old friends, sad times.

I’ve just read that Elizabeth Dermot Walsh is going to be in the new Sr Boniface Mysteries.I have continued to watch classic Doctors but not much going on atm. Helen as a new love interest and Nathan and Tasha have agreed to be friends. A bit dull really

It’ll get pretty interesting in the next month or so Joan!

I'm not sure if she will be in as a one off or if she will be a new regular.

FuzzyPuffling · 21/11/2024 18:53

We watched a bit of Classic doctTors and I was bored!

My DF wanted me to post another msg here as he's desperate to watch it from the very beginning but can't get UTV. Is it available on Freeview?
He was upset when they axed it and to announce it was the last one at such short notice! He said how come they can keep shows like Eastenders with all the characters in that if they've axed it due to production costs?!

FuzzyPuffling · 23/11/2024 10:47

Freeview channel 20 at 8.00am, weekdays. I think.

Oh that's great, thank you 😊

Binglebong · 24/11/2024 14:16

Points of View just covered Doctors. No reply given.

Raahh · 24/11/2024 14:34

Yes, I saw that- bit odd that there was no response to the viewers.
It's really annoying how many things have been said about the programme since the axe fell/it has ended. No-one seemed to care before, it was just us hardcore fans watching, it seemed.

I do think the BBC have made a mistake, and I wonder if they are realising that now, but I doubt anything will come of it.

I saw an interview with Rosie Marcel - who was Jac in Holby. She has now announced she has 'retired' from acting. She is only in her 40s- but has had no luck getting work since Holby was axed- and she was one of the good ones. It's the pit falls of being in a long running drama. Some have moved on, but as often happens, people seem to vanish.

FuzzyPuffling · 24/11/2024 14:52

Rosie Marcel was in The Bill too. It must feel like a pattern for her.

Raahh · 24/11/2024 14:57

I think with Doctors it will be especially hard for an actor like Jimmi/Adrian- who has been in the show for so long. But he also had lengthy 'breaks' to do other things, so maybe they had other projects we don't know about.

I do hope Kia Pegg gets a decent acting gig soon- I know she is presenting , but it will be a waste if she doesn't get to do something else.

Ladyswhatlunch · 24/11/2024 15:37

I just don’t understand the BBC’s thought process, they have axed a continuing drama where new writers, actors etc. could showcase their talents, they had a regular daily audience of I believe of 1.5 million so surely they have completely lost those viewing figures as those 1.5 million are not going to tune into ‘Scam Interceptors’ or ‘Crap in the Attic’ are they? Or are the BBC that stupid they think we will? They probably think what they consider to be a waste of space audience that they have no respect for, will watch any old cheap game show they produce, it beggars belief.

I absolutely won’t be watching anything else in that slot (because of work), Doctors was good enough that I would record it or watch it on Iplayer, for years after I gave up on all the other soaps. I agree it is a massive loss to the industry pipeline of talent, both on and off screen.

JoanChitty · 25/11/2024 09:11

Just watching this morning, episode called Spotless featuring Dido Miles aka Dr Emma!

ExpertlyDecorated · 25/11/2024 13:26

Every day about now (I'm at work) I am finding myself thinking if I click on MN there might be people watching Doctors, even If I'm not watching live I would have a little peek on MN on my phone to see what you are all saying about it and decide whether to bother watching later. I am missing that.

BooseysMom · 01/12/2024 14:50

DF wanted me to post his thanks regarding what channel to watch Classic Doctors on. He's watching 2 episodes every morning at 8. So he's happy again! He tells me the lady doctors in it are overly glamorous for the job they do! Also he likes seeing Christopher Timothy again (following his appearance when he came back with dementia - a touching story-line and brilliant acting from CT).

I looked at my watch the other day at five to two and my first thought was that Doctors would be on in a few minutes 😒

Thanks 😊 He wanted me to subscribe to UTV so that I could watch along with him but I work too many hours. I already follow Emmerdale and that's more than enough for me!
