Anyone watching? So far I'm really liking the lead actress.

But they keep talking about a Northern Irish weapon-maker bloke being British. I thought Northern Ireland was part of the UK, but not part of Great Britain? Isn't that why our passports say great Britain AND Northern Ireland? Annoying.

On the upside, I loved it so much when the lead lady said "pre planning? Isn't all planning pre ?!"

OMG I hate all this "pre" business, "pre" ordering etc. It's already in advance! (Probably a thread for the pedants section)

I love the lead actress though.

I was also rooting for the jackal to kill river guy. But it was ridiculous that the other shooter managed to get on stage with a gun. There was so much security, how would that have been possible? Jackal had to go to extremes to avoid being caught - special gun hidden in moon boot, stay over night in the ceiling, pee in water bottles, avoid sniffer dogs etc. Yet apparently the other shooter can just walk in with a gun, and then get on stage behind the bullet proof screens and try to shoot him.

Poor Rasmus. He had a kind face. Shame jackal didn't wear a disguise (though I agree, it probably would have degraded over 24hours).

Yeah, it was a totally ridiculous plot twist that some.one else was there to.kill him and got in so.easily. annoyed me a lot.

He didn't want to kill Rasmus but he genuinely loves Nuria. The brother though... that's just a bit odd. She is close to her family but clearly she is the innocent and "pure" one. I am wondering if their behaviour is likely to push her closer to the jackal and further from them. Her mother isn't really concerned for her daughter - she is happy to take the money and wealth. If she was really worried, no way would she encourage the brother to take the money.

BustingBaoBun · 24/11/2024 10:16

Maybe I've watched too many crime dramas, but ... having seen his secret room, and the lengths he goes to, to disguise himself and all the passports, money etc.... wouldn't Nuria or brother spot a camera in there or realise the room might well be monitored.

DuncinToffee · 24/11/2024 10:40

There are so many things that make you think 'really' Confused

And yes the Jackal must be really pissed off after going to all that trouble, someone else just walked onto the stage with a gun Grin

I can't take it seriously but enjoy it anyway

CaptainBenson · 24/11/2024 16:16

I was annoyed at the second shooter too! 🙄

I quite like that the target wasn't killed though as it will keep things more interesting. Although surely if he was taken out and killed his "River" thingie/company could still be launched without him?!

I wondered if the brother taking the money could increase the chances of the Jackal being tracked down? Like if he buys a stake in the bar with all that cash it may trigger money laundering alarms?!

martha4clark · 24/11/2024 16:32

The other 'surprise' shooter was part of the security team - I think it was actually Bianca's security team. So the mole inside MI6 probably planted him/got him to make the assassination attempt.

DuncinToffee · 24/11/2024 16:44

The shooter being part of the security team does make sense, thanks

Wrt to Nuria's family, As well as the brother and the money, I am wondering if that photo her mum took of Charles will also come back to haunt him. The story line has to tie in somehow

ANagsHead · 24/11/2024 17:20

It would be fun if Nuria’s brother were to find himself mistaken for the Jackal, because someone is tracing either the money or the gun he stole from the hidden room. I mean mistaken for and assassinated as …

Ooh I like that!

I have just binge watched this series and I really like it but can't stand Bianca, her character is awful.

Teeh · 25/11/2024 10:42

Do you think maybe we are supposed to find her unlikeable? I find myself rooting for the jackal which is perhaps what we are supposed to do?

I think you can still root for the ’bad guy’ and like the cop chasing them, like I think most people felt on Killing Eve.

Teeh · 25/11/2024 12:32

Yes that’s true about killing eve

TheSecondMrsCampbellBlack · 25/11/2024 12:55

I am loving this too but wish they'd drop all the episodes at once, godammit!

Ah, I was wondering who the other shooter was, thanks for that explanation. And was wondering about Erasmus and whether The Jackal is gay.

I'm annoyed that he missed the shot though, I mean, c'mon, why? I wanted UDC to die. But I was also wondering why he didn't try to shoot him in between the car and venue, like he did with the politician in the first episode, easier than hiding in a hole for 2 days surely?

DH spotted that he took Imodium so he wouldn't need a shit while he was hiding, I hadn't realised that, urgh!

ANagsHead · 25/11/2024 13:15

I guess that would come under the ‘reasonable expenses’ he negotiated with his employers? 🥴

DuncinToffee · 25/11/2024 13:19

He probably missed as that was what happened in the book and original film, it is largely following the story line.

I hadn't realised that - makes sense totally now you've said it.

Probably but I just feel as well as being unlikable, her acting is a bit wooden.

Jayne35 · 26/11/2024 13:28

I disagree. I think she's wooden becuase thats the character - she's completely focused on work and actually, that's why we don't like her. eg, her family leave because they're in danger and instead of feeling bad, and worrying about them, she has a meltdown and starts screaming at her husband's ex who has taken them in.

The Jackal character on the other hand does seem to have some conflict in his work vs his personal life.

ANagsHead · 26/11/2024 17:52

Have you all watched the 7 minute ‘Becoming Bianca’ extra on Now? I found it interesting, but also amusing because Lashana Lynch places a lot of emphasis on her Bianca wig, when to my eyes the actress is a million times better looking with her own hair. (I am a huge fan of very short hair.)

I should probably watch the other extra videos too …

QueenofHebdenBridge · 26/11/2024 18:02

I'm loving this series and I don't really like thrillers / James Bond type stuff. The quality of the acting enabled me to overlook the improbables...

I don't think Bianca is wooden, I think that's deliberate - she's trying so hard to keep her emotions under control that she comes across as cold / mechanical. I also think she's shocked, possibly even afraid, of how she's able to kill someone and then go home to her family acting as if she has a normal office job.

Foxlover46 · 28/11/2024 07:33

@TheSecondMrsCampbellBlack love your user name ha ha
That's a brilliant catch from your husband , I never noticed that either and now all I can think about is that level of planning and why can't I be more like him 😅

Foxlover46 · 28/11/2024 07:36

I don't mind Bianca , she's that sort of person where she has the family but work is her life , like the lead in Lioness.
Early on I thought she was a Stepmum to the daughter as opposed to her mum due to that lack of sort of warmth between them.
I think I'm the only one but I don't really like his wife very much , the brother stealing the extra money was no surprise he's absolutely going to mess a lot up isn't he

Merrilydancing · 28/11/2024 22:38

Really enjoyed tonight’s episode, getting to know more of the background of the Jackal and how he got to where he is.

Have to admit that it’s a struggle watching in real time rather than binge watching.

DuncinToffee · 28/11/2024 23:00

I feel differently, I'd prefer it if the Jackal's identity remained a mystery like in the film Grin

I felt more sympathy for Bianca this episode
