Anyone watching? So far I'm really liking the lead actress.

But they keep talking about a Northern Irish weapon-maker bloke being British. I thought Northern Ireland was part of the UK, but not part of Great Britain? Isn't that why our passports say great Britain AND Northern Ireland? Annoying.

On the upside, I loved it so much when the lead lady said "pre planning? Isn't all planning pre ?!"

OMG I hate all this "pre" business, "pre" ordering etc. It's already in advance! (Probably a thread for the pedants section)

I love the lead actress though.

The Irish daughter who was killed after protesting is also in blue lights as a police officer isn't she I think her name is Annie in it.
I was thinking at the end of this weeks one .. why am I rooting for him when he's actually the bad guy 🙈🤣
I hate waiting weekly I think I've become used to bingeing

What's really interesting though is that while he's theoretically the bad guy, Bianca has nearly as much blood on her hands, a strained relationship with her family, is deceiving her boss, and is cold, ruthless and capable of violence/killing. The parallels being drawn between the two leads are so clever.

Late to the thread but really enjoying it.

The scene with the watermelon target is exactly the same as in the original film.

Anyone watched Ep6? I have!

And all I can say (which is not a spoiler) is... 'please don't kill him!'

(That could mean anyone within the hour, I promise you!)

He was doomed from when they met.....

Ellerby83 · 16/11/2024 17:05

Poor guy. Should have trusted his instincts - did he say he thought the Jackal dangerous or was it scary

Oh yes, he did. I'd forgotten that. He was doomed from the moment Eddie asked what his name was!

CitrineRaindropPhoenix · 16/11/2024 17:11

I'm loving it - especially the parallels with the Edward fox film with the watermelon and cravat and the names.

DuncinToffee · 16/11/2024 17:19

I am not sure what to make of Bianca, her character feels a bit all over the place.

FridayNight1975 · 17/11/2024 19:09

Can someone suggest how could the American woman have found him and where he was staying?

the guy has tens of aliases and you’d think moves fully under the radar, how did she manage this?

it’s really bothering me.

DuncinToffee · 17/11/2024 20:15

Yes, that didn't make sense at all

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 17/11/2024 23:16

We have watched EP5

DH says that place in Hungary would be a nightmare to heat, esp as it's cold over there.

Such a male response!

He's right though 😜

Roystonv · 18/11/2024 07:03

Sorry did nothing for me, ER just not the right person. Also the original was very good and I don't get the need to update it. It really should stand alone as a brand new series.

Oreosareawful · 18/11/2024 10:33

I'm loving it and so desperate for another episode to watch!
I think Eddie R is a brilliant character, and am familiar with him as Newt Scamander from the Fantastic Beasts series.

With regards to the 'Bond' likeness, my husband was convinced Adele was the theme tune singer and wouldn't shut up about it until I proved him wrong lol

TheSecondMrsCampbellBlack · 18/11/2024 15:46

I am loving this too, although saving the next two episodes for Friday night, I wish they'd drop them all at once, it's such bingeable tv!

I'd love to know how the American woman found him too!

GemmaJones8278 · 18/11/2024 15:48

Wow this brings back memories! My granddad sitting in his armchair watching this with a bottle of whiskey. Obviously this series is a reboot. LOL!

I agree, she's very chaotic and also very mean indeed to her co-worker.

I think surely it's got to be her old friend/colleague who's the mole?

BustingBaoBun · 18/11/2024 21:22

My DH is convinced the mole is big cheese boss woman with glasses. He's often annoyingly right about this sort of thing!

Foxlover46 · 19/11/2024 06:11

Absolutely and now all week I'm wondering what Happened to that poor sweet helpful man ... and now I've forgotten his name 😅😅

Foxlover46 · 19/11/2024 06:11

@BustingBaoBun I think that's a good shout for the Mole !

Merrilydancing · 19/11/2024 07:49

I am worried about poor Rasmus or whatever his name as well! I think his card is marked.

I think the mole is the other big cheese guy as he was the one who all throughout wanted her to stop, sabotaged the first hit on the gun maker and when that didn’t work, warned of a mole to make her trust in him.

BustingBaoBun · 19/11/2024 08:30

Ooh good call!

Foxlover46 · 19/11/2024 08:39

@Merrilydancing yes Rasmus ! I couldn't for the life of me remember 🙈

KnittedCardi · 19/11/2024 09:29

Can't believe so many pp's don't know Eddie Redmayne. Oscar's, Baftas, Tony's, Larry's, Golden Globes.......Watch The Danish Girl, and Theory of Everything. Sublime. He is a very physical actor, so perfect for this chameleon role.

DH and I are struggling with Lyshana Lynch. Just not very credible, but that could just be the writing.

I think it is the writing, she really has some silly scenes.
