I have spotted the aggressive and problematic males from the start.
Alex was so obviously scary from Day One, with his gaslighting, scowling, aggression, just in every way not a suitable partner for a single mum with three kids. He should have been removed from the experiment immediately when Holly said she dreaded saying things to him in private and said them in public to protect herself.
Ross took a bit more time to show, as he has a gentle giant persona, but Sasha was saying that after the ring throwing incident in her flat, and I'm guessing others, she didn't want to be up in Manchester when Ross had a temper tantrum and she'd be left alone. So the revelations today were very much more down that line. It is abuse, and should have led to his immediate removal from the experiment too.
Ryan's temper showed in relation to Steven, his eyes flashed and I thought I would not like to be alone with a jealous angry man. True enough, he was, and was removed from the experiment.
The MAFS team need to reflect on a) why the experts cannot spot abuse and emotional coercion and even encourage it by asking the women to see their own part in it. Both Holly and Sasha actually showed a hell of a lot more boundaries and maturity by rejecting the expert's 'come on, you are bad too' narrative and asserting they didn't have to live like this, probably as they have already experienced abuse, Holly had and Sacha's family look 'lively' and b) why there are so many abusive men in this show, and whether picking very well built men on steroids is serving the right type of husbands.
The show fails to recognise abuse and lacks a of duty of care and I think it will be eventually stopped for this reason.
