Just binge-watched S3. What a ride!

Anyone else had a look yet?

Yes binged it Tuesday night and last night.

Still think it is as ridiculous as always especially having experience of that world it, but funny to see how they brought in real life references like the Truss budget and Credit Suisse demise

Not as raunchy as the other two series’ although it does have its moments, guessing it’s showing them be a bit older and maybe a bit wiser….

Last episode was great and was set up to either be a last ever episode or a pivot into a new direction for the show

JSMill · 03/10/2024 19:05

I'm up to episode 5 and as I have guests coming I guess I won't finish it before next week. It's been brilliant so far. I love how the characters have developed. I wish Gus was still in it. I loved how cynical he was.

Fleur405 · 03/10/2024 19:10

I AM ANGER!

I loved it. I mean it’s fairly ridiculous but good binge watching material.

Spoiler below

Yas’ ending gave me Shiv’s vibes.

What’s with these women that can’t ultimately believe in themselves and be happy and successful on their own right? Is being supported by a rich man really the only way forward?

Ooh good spot. Very Shiv.

Spoiler alert:

For me, some very unexpected moments. Nicole in Ep 1, Diana in Ep 8 😱

The opening scene of S3 was supposed to show an erect penis on UK tv for the first time but was cut out for some unknown reason. It was Charles Hanani’s knob we were supposed to see (and was shown in the US). Quite glad we are British sometimes 😂

I actually watched the show on a streaming website when it first aired in the US so I’m afraid I can’t unsee ‘it’.

Binged the last 4 episodes last night. Sad it's ended but can't see how they would do another series.
Interesting how the central characters stories ended - especially Rishi who seems to have got what he deserved.
Felt very sad for Robert but he seemed to know it was coming or wasn't that surprised when it did.

JSMill · 05/10/2024 17:58

I binged watch the last two episodes early this morning. The endings in general were satisfactory but I was shocked at what happened to Rishi. I don't think Rob was heartbroken. He seemed to understand what was going on. He seemed to have onto bigger and better things and was in a good place. I felt sorry for him in the first series. So many people were horrible to him and he was in a bit of a mess.

LeoTimmyandVi · 05/10/2024 18:29

I watched up to ep 7 on a streaming service and then ep 8 on iPlayer. It has been commissioned for series 4 but I wonder if it may do a Skins and complete recast as a lot of the character storylines could be seen as complete. Alternatively it could be based in New York as that is where Harper and Eric will no doubt end up?

I love it and already missing it - but I have to google the episode description before I watch it as I get confused with all the technical (to me!) finance language and twists and turns 🤣!

I watched it weekly on a streaming platform and would then go to the Reddit subreddit, there are loads of people explaining in simple terms what was happening.

Although I don’t mind ‘going with the flow’ like I would many times do when watching The West Wing, I don’t fully know what’s happening all the time, but it’s still enjoyable.

johnworf · 06/10/2024 08:51

I wondered if Harper going back to New York was prompted by Jesse's release.
I can see Harper and Eric forming an alliance but their love/hate relationship could/would cause problems.

I would like to see how it plays out for Yasmin and Lord Muck. I think she is too restless and damaged to last the distance. I was thinking about the scene with the girl from the yacht who she made her secretary.....from Yasmin's reaction to the question if her father had ever done anything 'like that' to her...can we take it as a 'yes'? 😕

Definitely would watch series 4!

Agree that Yasmin suffered at the hand of her Father. I think the series has been exploring why she is so damaged from the off.

Harper’s move is deffo related to Jesse’s release. Totally think her and Eric will team up again in NYC. Interesting how the series aired first in the US so I think the next series will cater to the US market and we’ll have to recall all the financial jargon we learned from Billions 😂

Finished S3 last night and am still thinking about today …

Realising that Yasmin probably decided to tie herself to Henry the minute she saw that Robert - her one true ally - was about to leave for the US. Otherwise she might happily have continued stringing them both along for a couple of years or more. I wonder if he realised it too.

In any world Harper and Eric need to be working together. They each seemed a bit adrift without each other as allies this season.

I’m afraid Rishi’s fate (his wife’s fate) felt like the unutterably brilliant writers were keen to be rid of the show and were just racing for definitive endings.

But overall, it was fantastic.

I disagree about Diana’s ending. It was truly shocking as was the unexpected death of Nicole in the opening episode. I loved the writers for those two startling scenes. Rishi absolutely got what he deserved but obviously killing the wife and leaving the children motherless and with the feckless father was not your usual standard drama fodder.

Yasmin tied herself to Henry because she needed the protection of his family because of the mess her father had left behind.

BlanklyMyDear · 06/10/2024 17:32

She did, yes. And knew she was trapped when Viscount Norton started blackmailing strong arming her into taking on Henry as a charitable deed. But I do think she made up her mind once and for all in the car, when Robert confirmed his America plan.

dapsnotplimsolls · 06/10/2024 18:16

I also think Yas didn't want to ever have to stay in a hotel again where the kettle didn't work ... or end up like the woman in the car with the screaming kids in the back. She wanted to protect herself and live a life of luxury. Would she have gone to NY with Robert?

dapsnotplimsolls · 06/10/2024 18:17

I agree about the shocking deaths and ... they killed/sacked Kenny!

Aah is that why she was looking at the woman in the car. I was waiting for the woman to recognise Yasmin but when that didn't happen, I wondered why they included that.
I liked the fact some old characters popped up in cameos such as Daria.
I really hope if they make a series 4, it's not set in New York and centred around Harper and Eric. I find Harper very dislikeable.

dapsnotplimsolls · 06/10/2024 18:27

I assumed that was that until I saw the comments on this thread that there's going to be a fourth series. No idea how that will work.

BlanklyMyDear · 06/10/2024 18:56

Indeed … I liked that Robert mentioned Gus! (Can’t recall if by name or just ‘my friend …’.) Now working at, what was it, some other green energy start up in Silicon Valley?

It’s true they seem to have wrapped up the major storylines - but Jesse was … lush, and I adored Gus, so if Robert were to find himself hanging out with them - plus Harper … And maybe Yasmin either running away from, or funding all their adventures remotely through, her marriage? (I pray for a riotous portrayal of her wedding - as gobsmacking as the one at the end of This Life!) The show may well have to be primarily set in the US - just as Wilhelmina said Pierpoint would be from now on.

dapsnotplimsolls · 06/10/2024 19:08

I can understand the US base but not sure how it will work if some are in California and some in NY.
