I missed the show last night - we had friends over. I cannot believe that Pete was saved again, is this down to the rumours of the showmance with Jowita do we think?

Poor Montell, she must be sick of being in the dance off every sodding week.

Musermum · 24/11/2024 10:43

I'm gutted Jamie is gone. I gave him 2 votes last night as I think he was much better in the sambathon than some others. I liked him, he was so enthusiastic and you could tell he was gutted by some of the judges comments. It's like they built him way up and then decided to tear him right down. I'm firmly team JB and Lauren now as I love them both and she has brought out his joy of dancing.

LochKatrine · 24/11/2024 11:08

What a shame about Jamie, I really liked him and thought he should have been a finalist. I voted for him last night because I feared he was in the danger zone. Montell and Jojo are fantastic, I've no idea why they don't get the votes.
Pete should go, really.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/11/2024 11:14

Totally unsurprised by Pete remaining if it's the case that people are individually making 100s of votes for him.

Not watched yet.

How are they managing to do that?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/11/2024 11:25

By using the text/call number - it's only the online vote that's limited to 3 IIRC

Not happy that Jamie left. I liked him and he is a better dancer than Pete and Chris. It annoyed me that the judges were so harsh with their comments to him.

When I've used the call system it's blocked me after 3 votes. I don't know how they're circumventing that?

I agree. He was demonstrably better than Chris and Pete.

I don't think there is any limit on phone votes. I phoned 10 votes for Sarah last night with no problem

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/11/2024 12:14

I always thought calls were unlimited 🤔

EsmaCannonball · 24/11/2024 12:27

I've always wondered if someone with a bit of money and tech knowledge could set up that system that call centres and scam artists use where they get a computer or several computers to dial numbers. One you've dialled the number for your favourite on Strictly you don't have to speak or press any buttons so, theoretically, someone could vote thousands of times in the half-hour window.

Really?!
You'd think the BBC would close that loophole.

It's not on the part of the participant. I would suggest that allowing so many multiple votes isn't a good idea.
You may disagree, however I feel it's not really in the spirit.

I don't think it's a joke programme. I think it's light entertainment, but it seems a shame that the voting can be so skewed. Just my opinion.

tennissquare · 24/11/2024 18:44

I read I think on the other thread that in the early weeks a fan had voted for Pete 178 times in 1 evening. He has a massive fan base.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/11/2024 18:53

I wouldn't call Strictly a joke programme.

I am a bit sick of repeatedly saying Pete has a massive fan base outside of Strictly viewership for posters to continue to express bafflement as to how he is staying in. It's clear he must be top or second from top in the vote or he would be in the DO

This is the first year that I've not got a favourite and I don't think I've really liked that many of the dances.
Thinking back, it's chris whose dances I've enjoyed the most.(the one with the black out and the Blackpool number)
Don't really care about most of them so for me..let Pete win.
But it's obvious it will be chris and I'm OK with that out of him or Pete.
Would really like it for diane too whi I've warmed to this year a lot.

MouseMinge · 25/11/2024 18:41

I completely understand why Chris is staying in. This week he was poor but he's blind. I don't think it's possible for people not to take that into account. Each week I think either, "That wasn't brilliant but he's blind and he's still better than a lot of people who can see." or "That was bloody brilliant AND he's blind!" I'm guessing others are thinking similarly and voting for him. I'm not but that's because there are a couple of others I prefer to him despite loving watching some of his stuff, especially Blackpool which was maybe the dance of the season so far.

With Pete I don't see the reason for voting for him. He's humble? Nick Knowles was humble and he was gone faster than a quickstep. Also, is he really humble? I have no idea but I don't get him. He's miserable a lot of the time and his "I'm not very good" week on week gets tired. This week he was the weakest but he tried. Last week it felt like he couldn't be arsed and everyone else clearly could be no matter how good or not so good they were. I'm 100% sure that not everyone is voting with their fannies, but I wish those who were would bloody stop it. That said if the polls are anywhere near to accurate, he's heading down the public vote percentage a bit more with each person eleminated so maybe he'll go next week. Or probably not.

I'm sad for Jamie that he's gone. I wasn't a particular fan but he deserved to stay in longer than Pete at the very least. I'm pissed off that Montell and Jojo were in the dance off again but all any of us can do is vote for who we want to stay. We can't make others see something that they don't see and vote for "our favourites".

Shellingbynight · 25/11/2024 22:47

I had never heard of Pete (and never watched Towie) before he turned up on Strictly. I disliked him on sight, but within one episode he'd won me over and I voted for him regularly until Blackpool. He's fun, he's working at it, I like him and I love Jowita so I'm glad she's still in. I thought it was his time to go this week, but I don't mind Jamie going because I found him really dull.

(I'm in my 60s and Pete is definitely not my type😆)

Re Jamie doing the tour, it depends if he's in storylines during that period. Bobby Brazier was written out of EastEnders for 6 months for Strictly plus tour.

Edenmum2 · 30/11/2024 21:34

Placemarking....going to predict Sarah and Montell in the DO

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 30/11/2024 21:35

I think Tasha and Montell
