It was a good one, very engrossing

Cosmosforbreakfast · 29/05/2024 22:48

Tonight's was a good one. I thought it was going to be some sort of set up by a serial killer, nice twist. Did not see the bunny tonight though.

OiGetOff · 29/05/2024 22:49

Bloody hell.

I was on edge for the entirety of that! I don’t consider myself easily scared, but now wondering whether booking for the live show was a good idea 😱

beaveringaway23 · 29/05/2024 23:02

Good, very good. Doesn't beat the karaoke one though.

Supersimkin2 · 29/05/2024 23:04

A happy ending! So that’s the surprise.

Open to interpretation I suppose but, I thought he died given that the last thing we saw on screen was the word "Exit".

Cosmosforbreakfast · 30/05/2024 07:09

I took 'Exit' to mean he exited the escape room/coma. Eitherways I'm never going into an escape room.

Waitingfordoggo · 30/05/2024 08:00

I always read the Den of Geek reviews because they’re well-written and often help to explain things I missed or didn’t understand in the show. They seem not 100% sure on the ending but are pretty sure Jason lived and that’s how I understood the ending too. ‘Exit’ because he came out of the coma.

I thought it was a great episode but my heart was in my mouth for lots of it. Very stressful!

Inside No. 9 Series 9 Episode 4 Review: CTRL/ALT/ESC

How do Jason and his family fare trapped in The Killer’s Lair? Spoilers.

I really shouldn't have watched it last night. I was too tired and the escape room theme made me panicky as I'm claustrophobic. As a result, I didn't enjoy it as much as I perhaps would have if I'd saved it for today like I usually do.

Very clever as always, though.

PinkFizz1 · 30/05/2024 09:19

Where was the hare?

They were waiting for any sign of brain activity and he was able to speak at the end, so pretty sure he lived.

I think the escape room was the coma that he was trying to come out of.

Iamiams · 30/05/2024 09:46

Exit changed from red to green to show he lived. How long have they held on to the realisation about XI in the mirror being nine!?

I bet they have a book of little things like that, that they have been trying to squeeze in here and there.

I was just watching some of the LOG Anniversary specials yesterday and there are lots of 9s popping up in various scenarios.

OrchardDoor · 30/05/2024 16:21

I thought that was a good twist. I'm pleased he lived (Spoke, eyes opened, green escape light.) I thought it was clever that the conversation between Millie and the mum about telling him what was going to happen later seemed to be about her ending the relationship but was really them discussing his life support being switched off. He was complaining about being excluded from their whisperings. Also him saying he was so proud of Millie and if only she could hear him.
I did think it would be a difficult watch for anyone who'd been in that situation with a loved one having life support turned off.
The actress who played Millie is called Calli Tant. I bet the writers were aware of the character Millie Tant from Viz comic.

OrchardDoor · 30/05/2024 16:22

It's been a good series so far. Mulberry Close and Ctrl, Alt, Esc have been my favourites.

Tarkan · 30/05/2024 16:37

I've been rewatching this one today to spot the hare and some of the early comments and conversations feel so different now I know the ending. The necrophilia joke for a start and the conversations about if he knows what's happening later and how it's been a hard two years. Also could the c-word mean coma rather than co-operation if they didn't like saying that, there was a comment of not to say something "in front of your dad" to one of the girls.

I did find the hare too. It's in a few shots and quite obvious when you see it.

OrchardDoor · 30/05/2024 18:34

He says "Is there something going on between you and mum. You can tell me." Millie says "I have been. You dont listen." He says "I do. I've heard everything you've told me" in the Escape Room.

IPartridge · 30/05/2024 19:24

Without giving any spoilers, it had some similarities to a previous episode.

Was very good though. Put me off escape rooms

NecklessMumster · 30/05/2024 19:55

I loved that, feel like I've just watched a whole film, they are amazing

Waitingfordoggo · 30/05/2024 20:00

Yes I thought so too @IPartridge

I’ve booked too and I’m shitting myself already. Have avoided an aisle seat just in case.

I don’t think it can be too scary as it’s stated that it’s age 12+? I am taking my 12 year old so I’m hoping it’s not too scary. I can’t wait.

I thought this episode was excellent. I’m always struck by the fact that Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton aren’t just great writers, their acting is incredible too.

I was thinking that too. Sometimes you have brilliant scripts and concepts. Sometimes you have brilliant actors. But for those people to be one and the same ❤️.

Think it was the Richard Herring podcast, but I remember Reece saying how everyone loves 12 Days of Christine, and it’s effing annoying as he’s hardly in it - for comedic effect, obviously. But I love the fact that sometimes their roles are just cameos really.

OutOfTheHouse · 30/05/2024 21:55

I’m always amazed at their make up. They look so different each time.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/05/2024 23:29

Ooh I watched this episode this evening then again to catch all those little clues on the rewatch.
Brilliant episode
