That one always seemed a bit rogue to me. A brilliant episode but so far removed from their usual ones.

For pure comedy and cleverness Reese when he’s in Cold Calling putting on a female voice has to be one of the best ones. I don’t think Steve does that, putting on voices.

I've always said that Reece does 'being female' very well.

thanks @OrchardDoor and @70isaLimitNotaTarget re: Mr King.

He's small framed and 5'6"-and-a-half and has a very nicely shaped mouth (but my heart is still set on Steve P with his amazing expressive eyes )

Reece said he based one of his characters on his Mum ( Bernice or Stella , not sure if I'd be flattered by either Grin )

Pretty sure it was Stella. In appearance rather than personality. And Mrs Levinson (one of my absolute favourites) is loosely based on Jeremy Dyson’s mother and her talking to her cleaner about the opera. This is my facts from the commentaries finally coming in handy!

Just caught up - that was marvellous! ❤️

Thank you for sharing those, it made me realise how many of the 6 idiots have been in their shows. What a dream it would be if we had a LOG/6 idiots collaboration.

Ohhhhh yesssssss!!!
(Although, I had a terribly dirty dream involving Steve Pemberton this weekend, and usually it's Ben Willbond. Can't imagine what sort of effect a collab would have on me...)

Ben was in Sardines, probably for the best that you don't rewatch that episode.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/06/2024 15:13

I'm searching now for something to watch to ease my bereft-ed-ness .

Watched the LoG, Pyschoville, :LoG Christmas Special , all the Inside no9 ( several times over) , Whitechapel , Happy Valley (DD likes this for James Norton !)

Cannot be doing with Good Omens ( and while on the subject of that , why didn't David Tennant appear in any IN9?)
I could rewatch Benidorm ( Mick 'Gravy')

The Widower looks worth a punt?

I'm the same. Love Happy Valley and LOG but have watched too many times recently.

I also dislike Good Omens. Intensely. Despite rather liking Michael Sheen.

Why didn't David Tennant appear in Inside No 9? Either he wasn't available, or they don't like him I'd say.

Benidorm is a good shout for a Sunday afternoon to take ones mind off the current dismal pissing rain

I'm going to try and get into a couple of books that have been sitting gathering dust for a few months.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/06/2024 16:45

We play a Connections Game here , look at an actor .
We're they in Games of Thrones ?
Look in the IMDB list - were they in The Bill? Casualty?Holby?Doctors?
Were they in a programme with SP or RS and were they in IN9 ?

The overlapping of these appearaces Grin

DH is watching that House of Dragons series right now , DD just asked what an actor had been in....... the Dad of Rory Kinears twin characters in Zanibar .

'Tis entertainment for me Grin

WiImaDickshow · 16/06/2024 16:55

There's quite a few who weren't in it. Just off the top of my head...
Mark Addy
Adeel Akhtar
Darren Boyd
Oliver Chris
Martin Freeman
Robert Glenister (although Philip did it)
Celia Imrie
Philip Jackson
Stephen Mangan
Kris Marshall
Lesley Manville
Peter Mullan
Lesley Sharp
Michael Sheen
David Tennant
Ester Smith
Imelda Staunton
Rafe Spall
Tom Wilkinson

Some of it will be availability, some will be who was thought of for the part, some of it will be budget (no idea how much guest stars got but wouldn't have thought it was particularly lucrative).

There's probably just as many who haven't guest starred in Tardis yet!

TellyUsername · 16/06/2024 17:23

Because David Tennant's ego probably got in the way

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/06/2024 17:45

I did start a thread a while back about who I'd like in my Fantasy IN9 Grin

Sarah Lancashire was deffo on my list and I;m so glad Siobhan Finneran appeared .

Don't know if DT has ego issues but he probably is very busy .
I'm not a Dr Who fan but I love the Christmas David Tennant/David Morrisey episode .

WiImaDickshow · 16/06/2024 20:21

Oof! Bit unfair - he's done ensemble work before and cameos. He was in the Camping reboot (horrendous as it was) and he worked with both Jessica Hynes and Sarah Parish. I can't think of which role I'd have put him in though. All the people who were in it were really good.
He could have played a part in The Bill, Zanzibar or And the jury is perhaps. He'd have been great in Zanzibar.

Too late. 😂
All joking apart, I've taken advantage of all the series being on iPlayer and have started from the beginning, in advance of Stage/Fright, JIC you need any kind of back story knowledge. I can't wait!!

Don't know if it's already been mentioned, but Ian McKellan really wanted to appear, and they definitely wanted him - but schedules just never could be worked out. Might be true for other big names.

I can rewatch the League of Gentlemen Christmas special endlessly, at any time of year. It’s peak League for me.

Reece plays a great psychopath-type in Catterick (Vic and Bob show from 2002 or thereabouts). It’s very zany but I enjoyed it, think they’re all on YouTube.

OMG. I'd forgotten all about Catterick! Didn't Bob once say he thought that was their best work? Brilliantly weird, which is the best kind.

<heads off to YouTube>

A bit late to the party but I’ve just finished watching the last number 9 have to say it had me in tears.🥹

SinisterBumFacedCat · 23/06/2024 23:58

Have binge watched the entire 9 series with DS who loved it, that final episode was exceptional. Will have to now rewatch the previous episode to see if there is a scene where Steve’s character is played by the producer. Loved all the celebs watching, especially all 3 ghosts watching together, and that the montage was time to say goodbye, from 12 days of Christine.

Dogondoolally · 24/06/2024 08:27

Totally genius, you either get them or you don’t. I’m going to go back to League of Gentleman and start No 9 all over again. Love their work.

It was CTRL/ALT/ESC where they said in "Plodding On" that the switch had taken place .

I re-watched CTRL/ALT/ESC again a couple of days ago ( which is I think my favourite episode from Ser 9 ) I think when Dr Death had a hold of Jason , it was a different actor ....but not 100% sure
But if they were going to say this then they'd have added it into the episode ?

Wasn't sure where to post this so thought the inside no 9 threads would make the most sense to start!

Due to a family emergency (parent in hospital), my husband and I won't be able to go to watch inside no 9 stage fright in London tomorrow night (Tuesday 4th Feb) - if anyone is interested in a pair of tickets? Stalls seats, we paid £127 per ticket. The theatre have said we can submit a resale request but that as it is so close to the date they can't guarantee a sale, and once the request is submitted then the tickets are void so may go to waste. Am gutted I can't go but would like them to go to a fan who missed out! Xx
