I loved the divine comedy reference - go check out, I think, Reece's Wikipedia page.

I love the Divine Comedy. Band and poem.

TellyUsername · 12/06/2024 22:39

Did anyone spot the hare or was it solely in the crossword?

Iamiams · 12/06/2024 22:42

How much do you think that cost or do you think the ensemble was paid in alcohol?!

TellyUsername · 12/06/2024 22:43

I'd like to think they did it for the love of the show, especially those without speaking parts tonight.

I think so too!

WiImaDickshow · 12/06/2024 22:45

I'd like to think the latter.
That they wrote to every cast member and asked if they'd do it for a Wine
And that the party guests all did it as a personal favour. The OCD me will go to the credits and see who's a good egg! Wink

It was next to the screen they were watching through montage on. Right at the front. Massive!

WiImaDickshow · 12/06/2024 22:50

45 good eggs
7 with more lines
and the 2 that - and it's the hill I'll die on - really do deserve CBEs for this body of work.

sparkleowl · 12/06/2024 22:52

I’ve enjoyed every episode of Number 9 but my favourite one was in the last series set in a house that was up for sale with the removers due.It cracked me up.
On holiday in a hotel earlier this year we were given the key for room number 9 and felt ever so slightly nervous.

OfMiceandWomen · 12/06/2024 22:54

Brilliant episode it didn’t disappoint.I felt emotional when they showed the past episodes.
Great way to end after nine series.

L4815162342 · 12/06/2024 23:00

I'm a huge fan and have watched since Series One, but I can't help but feel disappointed about this final episode, yet I can't quite articulate why? I think maybe I was waiting for something more... Something big, perhaps? And it just never came. And then it was over? I'm not sure.

There wasn't really a story to it is how I felt. It was enjoyable but it had no story.

Iamiams · 12/06/2024 23:04

Which theatre was it in?

It was certainly one for the fans, and I imagine anyone who hasn't seen the show before would have been a tad bemused as it kind of felt like this one was only for the fans and rather inaccessible to the more casual viewer (being composed almost entirely of in-jokes and Easter eggs) which isn't usually the case.

It felt like a big thank you to the fans, and I thought it was a lovely note to end on, as it kind of undid some of the exasperated messaging that came across about how awful obsessive fans are in Simon Says (which is still a great episode).

spiderlight · 12/06/2024 23:25

I thought it was great! A fitting send-off that played with their relationship and didn't take itself too seriously. I'm going to have to rewatch the escape room episode now though, to see if there really is a bit where you can tell it's not Steve.

Sorry. Blush The above list was requested on Reddit but I was unable to post it there for some reason. <Waves to disastrous candles if they did in fact click the link!>

I'm very confused. For 25 years I thought Reece Shearsmith was gay. I'm sure I've read interviews that say he's gay. And now I read he's married with two kids. Anyone else suffering from the Mandela Effect right now or just me?!

I agree with this. I class myself as a big fan but some of it even went over my head.

CharlotteLightandDark · 13/06/2024 08:46

Neither of them are gay they’re just luvvies so it’s hard to tell sometimes

PinkFizz1 · 13/06/2024 08:59

I feel a bit deflated after that and I can’t quite articulate why. I enjoyed some of the in jokes, but honestly it felt a bit sloppy and that not much thought had gone into it.

OrchardDoor · 13/06/2024 09:39

Sheridan Smith was probably busy, but at least we saw her on the screen.

WiImaDickshow · 13/06/2024 09:40

Jokes, allusions and self-deprecation/clapback to the criticisms levelled at it
It was self-indulgent but as others have said, it was also a love letter to the fans
It wasn't for anyone starting to watch it (on episode 55 of a ten-year run!) or casual fans, I agree.
