Bridgerton Season 3 May 16th binge watch together

I’m not a telly addict but I became obsessed with Bridgerton during Covid times. I love the casting, the settings, the dances, the music, the yearning, and the guarantee of a happy ending.

I’m embarrassed to admit how much I love it in real life because it’s so shallow.

Is anyone else planning to binge watch season 3 when it’s released next Thursday? If so, can we set up a MN support group please?

Give up and go to bed.

I've wasted my day binge watching this shite 🤣

Not enough happy Polin for me. Very slow and drawn out. And I didn't enjoy the music this time around, it all sounded the same.

Also, the scene where Fran and Violet play the piano 💩 it was an absolute racket and you could see they were all acting. They all looked so awkward.

Lady Danburys voice is so irritating. Its worse than s1 & 2.

minou123 · 13/06/2024 22:40

I'm.watched them all

SPOILERS

The Michael/Michael thing completely passed me by because I haven't read the books. I'm just accepting what the TV show is giving me, so I'm.happy with the new character.

I am a little disappointed Penelope outed herself as Lady W at the end.
The whole "whi is Lady W?", winding up the Queen and everyone getting excited to read the latest gossip was the glue that held this all together.
Plus, I will bereft without the beautiful voice over of Julie Andrews.

Finally, I feel really bad for Cressida Crowper. I know she is a little madam and made horrible choices.
But I really feel for her. That awful man she was being forced to marry, her terrible dad, her mum with no backbone.
I completely understand why she got so desperate.

Upinthenightagain · 13/06/2024 22:41

I’d go to bed @LadyFeatheringt0n. it’s only as exciting as you can find Colin sleeping on his little sofa and having the odd perv at Penelope’s boobs

PenelopeBridgerton · 13/06/2024 22:47

I did feel sorry for Cressida but then thought marrying a rich man three times your age in the days of no medical treatment for anything really was probably quite a good deal in the grand scheme of things. End goal is wealth and early independence, not the worst result. But I'm a cynic who values money more than romantic love in her old age.

😂

I get you.

My great grandmother told me "marry for money, minor. Find the richest man you can and marry the bugger"

My youth and feminist ideals got the better of me.

Now, the old, tired me realises she had a point.
Should have listened to my great grandmother.

minou123 · 13/06/2024 22:59

*that should say Minou. Not minor.

My great grandmother did not condone marrying minors

FitFatKat · 13/06/2024 23:06

The widows have the happiest lives in Jane Austen, so Cressida might have the last laugh.

I haven’t read the books so I have no problem with Michaela but I wasn’t happy with bi Benedict because it’s inconsistent with his escapades in Season 1. There are so many character inconsistencies this season and it’s wrecked the world-building. I was really looking forward to Benedict’s season and now that is icky too.

I’ve watched all the episodes now, thanks to the fast forward button. Turns out sex scenes are very much not sexy if the participants look like very average humans. I watched season 2 and QC on repeat but honestly there’s no need to watch this season at all. Again, what a waste.

neverclockwatching · 13/06/2024 23:06

Agree with lots of the comments and about this being a bit of a rubbish season.

Huge spoiler ahead - very likely they go for Benedict next as he meets Sophie at the masked ball which is when he says Elodie will be back for in their last scene together.

But are they going to make his love interest male ..

My nana gave me similar advice “You should marry a man with a short cough and long pockets”

Sensible women lol.

LadyFeatheringt0n · 14/06/2024 00:06

Well.

I should have gone to bed.

I won't need to watch this again.

Harassedevictee · 14/06/2024 05:55

Just a thought, do you think they could do both Benedict and Eloise’s stories in Season 4?

ChristmasCwtch · 14/06/2024 07:32

Watched the new episodes yesterday. Feels a bit flat. Like a totally different season to last month…

Annoyed with Michael/Michaela. Such a good book, ruined 🤦🏼‍♀️

Also, the family-ness of the books is lost with no Daphne and hardly any Anthony.

Anneofa1000days · 14/06/2024 07:42

Lucky Penny having a orgasm first time having full sex. Colin must be good. I did think the sex scene was sweet though and I like the way they discreetly covered Pen up. Shes not one to walk about in the nip.
Violet really gets on my nerves she can never talk straight always really nervous about everything.
As a lot of others said why change Benedict's sexual tastes and to be honest he looks late 30s to me. How old is he suppose to be. So in 2 years he will look 40ish. I do think Eloise is really pretty. She is my favorite.

saltysquid · 14/06/2024 07:44

Season 1/2 & QC might not have been totally historically correct but it worked. Costumes and storylines were a mess this season.
Love Penelope but her pairing with Colin did not work for me.
Don’t know where they are going with the Benedict storyline.
Kate and Anthony were totally wasted, a viscount would go to parliament and oversee his estates not gallivant on trips every two seconds. Would have liked to see them sparring after married life too.
I don’t think the Michaela swap works for Francesca’s story. Her book is so different, set in Scotland and none of the other Bridgerton’s really appear in it. The whole storyline from the book does’t make sense with the gender swap.
If they wanted to change the gender they should have done it for Eloise, but guess they had already introduced Sir Phillip.
The writers and showrunner has changed for this series, it shows and not for the better. Not really looking forward to any of the other seasons now.

SmallSoupcon · 14/06/2024 08:27

It was ok, but I didn't feel invested, plus being forced to wait 4 weeks p*ssed me off!
It seems like the costumes are wearing the actors. It's so try-hard and distracting. And what's with the trowelled-on heavy makeup? I just wasn't convinced, and the plot was non-existent.
It's always been enjoyable fluff, so I don't expect high drama, but S1 and S2 seemed to have more twists and turns and humour.

queenofarles · 14/06/2024 09:16

Why ruin something good?

diddl · 14/06/2024 09:18

If they wanted to change the gender they should have done it for Eloise, but guess they had already introduced Sir Phillip.

That was so long ago though!

I'm wondering how a same sex relationship will work in Regency times.

Perhaps two spinsters living together out of financial necessity!

Upinthenightagain · 14/06/2024 09:38

If they wanted to show a same sex couple, I think they could have made more of the guy Lucy was supposed to marry. He seemed nice in the books and I would have liked to see that play out more. I suppose it’s a bit of a wait though with it being Gregory’s story

From what I've read, same sex friendships could be very intense and intimate during the Regency era. While couples don't seem to have been "out" in the modern sense, they were definitely a thing. And sexual debauchery, opium taking etc was rife among the wealthy classes, they were the opposite of the prim and moralistic Victorians which followed. Maybe it was a reaction!

Harassedevictee · 14/06/2024 05:55

I don't think so. Sophie becomes Eloise's lady's maid and part of Eloise's story takes place at Benedict and Sophie's house.

But I suppose they aren't sticking to the story so maybe they can!

PurpleWhiteGreen123 · 14/06/2024 14:05

Penelope was wearing waaayyyy too much makeup at her sisters' ball. It made her look vampy. I loved her blue/green sparkly dress though.

MeinKraft · 14/06/2024 14:48

Just finished. Polins story was executed well I guess, at least it finished up nicely. But where was all the shagging we were promised Blush This was supposed to be the spiciest season yet and you couldn't possibly watch with your mother and they broke furniture because they were really going for it. All we got was a bit of fingering in a carriage and a 2 minute shag on an uncomfortable looking chaise longue.

MeinKraft · 14/06/2024 14:49

Also Benedict must be absolutely riddled by now.

MissAtomicBomb1 · 14/06/2024 14:50

I will miss Lady Fetherington. I thought she was a great character. The actress who plays her is brilliant!
I was also secretly hoping that someone or something would come to Cressida's rescue at the end. She was desperate - I did feel a bit sorry for her.
