Anyone wanna join in with the pre-screening goss and hype?

Me first… SJP has posted her run through nameplate on insta. But so has this actor - a rumoured love interest for Miranda? What do we think?

Evan Handler( Harry) is actually 64 IRL.Thought he looked quite thin in this episode. Perhaps for role ahead?

Gowlett · 28/06/2025 15:10

Just watched EP.3… The dialogue is sooo bad.

The salami denim hot pants, just no need at all.

I’m just here for Seema, at this stage. She’s ace!

@Netaporter Thank you for identifying Jonathan Cake from The Affair. I knew I had seen him somewhere. That was such a great series.

@Lottapianos Glad you noticed Linda at the bank was the same Linda at the bank turning down Carrie. When I watched it, I actually shouted out, "That's Linda!". I love all the SATC geekiness!

However, Seema seems to be a bit of an idiot (and not a great businesswoman) if she hasn't built up a financial profile that makes her a good prospect for a loan so she can become an independent realtor. I don't like this continued portrayal of women who are only wealthy because a man props them up. Samantha was always the kick ass in this respect. Her own firm, her own money, her own woman, no man needed. Even Miranda (who I maintain should be rolling in it) seems to have nothing more than modest means because she didn't marry some rich bloke to provide her with a Park Avenue apartment.

I agree re: Samantha being independent.
Miranda surely must be very comfortably off.
Is there some sort of writers’ agenda to keep Carrie the richest of the girls by virtue of Big’s inheritance?!
I also don’t subscribe to Seema having to justify her driver, having no client list or payout from her former partnership. I don’t get it.

ILoveBrum · 28/06/2025 15:32

Loved this week’s episode (all of it!) & so glad we didn’t see awful Aiden. Last week’s was the worst so hopefully that’ll be the last time we see Virginia!

Yes, I dont get why Miranda can't get a place. She was doing well enough at her corporate job to afford a Manhatten apartment and presumably it funded the house in Brooklyn. Given how trendy Brooklyn has become since they bought it, I'm sure she and Steve would've made a very tidy profit once it sold.

Even if she couldn't afford a place in Manhatten now, why wouldn't she rent privately rather than get an AirBnb?

ILoveBrum · 28/06/2025 16:20

It’s not about Miranda affording a place but about the effort it takes and presumably she’s very busy so doesn’t have time to find a good realtor, hence then asking Seema.

Doubleraspberry · 28/06/2025 16:24

It was helpful to have that explained after viewers have been wondering all season! What continues to make no sense was why she didn’t just ask Seema to start with. Carrie can do one with her ‘she only helps rich people (like me)’ line

westisbest1982 · 28/06/2025 16:26

I don’t know, Miranda is shrewd and long in the tooth so I also don’t buy she’s still willingly throwing money down the drain by renting long-term.

I’m not sure it’s been that long? At the end of the last series they hadn’t sold the Brooklyn place and she was living with Nya. Based on the fact that at the beginning of this series Carrie’s friends appeared to have not noticed quite how long a break she and Aidan were taking, and Seema’s bloke still being away filming, it might only have been 2/3 months. I can see why you’d go Air B&B in that situation, given that US house buying is far quicker and easier than our awful process.

Gowlett · 28/06/2025 16:35

Is Miranda just house-sitting at Gramercy?
Why doesn’t she move in with Carrie?
Hopefully she won’t do another Che in the kitchen.

And Carrie saying that the house is Aidan’s?
Er no, wasn’t it bought with BIG money?
And saying she didn’t believe Aidan about Wyatt.

Please let them do something good with Seema!
Unlikely that hot gardener would fancy her, tho…
Where is Nya? At least Lisa is mildly entertaining.

ILoveBrum · 28/06/2025 16:53

@Doubleraspberry ordinarily Seema wouldn’t work for someone like Miranda as she seemingly does high net worth / high value properties only (which we might consider high in value for a 2-bed in NYC, but that wouldn’t cut it for a realtor like Seema).

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/06/2025 17:00

They mentioned 3mths as a timeline so I get why mirandA doesn’t have a place but she has money to buy

amazed seema as no assets or savings as she was so successful

thrh can’t kill Harry off and have 2 widows in a group of 4 friendship

thi Harry looked very slim /thin. He was much more cuddly when walking around her apartment naked

tothelefttotheleft · 28/06/2025 17:05

I followed Evan Handler when I had Twitter and he had tried to lose weight then.

Gowlett · 28/06/2025 17:11

There’s no fun anymore! I mean, the Harry / Carrie shopping thing could have been a good laugh. But nothing quite lands!

Ordinarily no, but they’re friends!

But didn't Carrie say to Miranda that, because she is friends with Seema, she didn't want to mix business and friendship by asking Seema to help Miranda find a place? I think Miranda is only friends with Seema through Carrie, but not independently of her. Seema is seemingly going to help Miranda because she has no other options.

WRT her being a partner at her old firm, I was getting the impression that the writers are fudging the situation: so the old fellow/realtor allowed Seema's name to be in the firm's letterhead, but she was not an actual partner in the business, which us how that younger, annoying fellow has turned up, bought the partnership (owned only by the old man) and has been able to throw Seema out. All of "her" clients are actually not her clients but her former employer's clients. And she is probably contractually prevented from going after them (and possibly from competing with her old firm) for at least a few months. Why she has no financial/property security is a mystery, but I imagine we will see Seema now having to build upwards somehow, getting rid of her rich lady accoutrements, "slumming it" in taxis and possibly hooking up with the gardener - maybe starting an interiors and exteriors/property flipping business with him?

greengreyblue · 28/06/2025 18:21

Seema is now part of the group so I didn’t k ow why Miranda needs to go via Carrie.

'Also think with Carrie’s fashion sense, she would own some cool trainers/sandals also that are not heeled'

She said to Duncan that she didn't even know if she could walk without heels anymore. My mother is like this - she started wearing heels as a youngster, not Carrie's skyscrapers, but she ALWAYS wore a heel and now she can't wear flats. I noticed in the very last scene when Carrie took off those exquisite Mary James, she was walking on tiptoe 😁

Same with my Mum! The only time she didn't wear heels was at the gym. She must have owned about 50 pairs of heels at one point. It only changed recently in her late 60s and now she wears flat shoes and trainers and never wears heels any more. It's like the end of an era!

greengreyblue · 28/06/2025 19:28

Im54 and wore lots of heels in the 90s . Heeled boots, chunky heels, shoe boots but always heels. Then had my babies in early 2000s and realised that pushing a pram in heeled boots was not good for my back. I do like a heel but tend to wear boots , platform trainers in winter and wedges and Birkenstocks in summer. It makes Carrie look less fashionable to be obsessed with heels still. It dates her.

Yes but that’s the bullshit bit as Seema doesn’t need Carrie to tell her Miranda is looking - we see them eating brunch together. There’s realistically (ha! In this show) no way that Seema would have offered to find her somewhere and Carrie doesn’t need to be involved.

I agree that Seema wouldn't have regarded Miranda as one of her natural client base. Before. But things are different now, and I wonder if there's potential for conflict with her helping Miranda. Maybe Carrie wants to gatekeep some of these newer friendships after what happened when her friend Che got together with her friend Miranda. Majorly awkward. I wonder if we will hear whether Carrie is still in touch with Che, or whether Che has been consigned to the bin because she's now a poor nobody. Hopefully Seema won't go the same way!

CaptBirdsEar · 28/06/2025 21:44

Is it meant to be a comedy now? Honestly it’s bloody rubbish.

Crikeyalmighty · 28/06/2025 21:54

@Holluschickie yep I do get the bit about why introduce reality when the rest of it is far fetched but if you remember in SATC they had the breast cancer storyline with Samantha - so they have done it before- and yep I liked witty sharp Harry too -

I agree with this. It’s become a silly gimmick. No-one that’s fashionable is still obsessed with heels, it feels like the writers have stuck with a lazy trope.

Gowlett · 28/06/2025 22:46

I hated the scene where she went and bought loads of expensive shoes (was it after BIG died?) & tried them on in her old place. When younger Carrie would have absolutely coveted her each & every pair, here she was chucking shoes about!
