Anyone wanna join in with the pre-screening goss and hype?

Me first… SJP has posted her run through nameplate on insta. But so has this actor - a rumoured love interest for Miranda? What do we think?

Also think with Carrie’s fashion sense, she would own some cool trainers/sandals also that are not heeled.

Lottapianos · 28/06/2025 08:54

'Also think with Carrie’s fashion sense, she would own some cool trainers/sandals also that are not heeled'

She said to Duncan that she didn't even know if she could walk without heels anymore. My mother is like this - she started wearing heels as a youngster, not Carrie's skyscrapers, but she ALWAYS wore a heel and now she can't wear flats. I noticed in the very last scene when Carrie took off those exquisite Mary James, she was walking on tiptoe 😁

greengreyblue · 28/06/2025 09:03

But you can get platform trainers that would be quiet. Or wedges?

I’m sure Carrie wore some heeled trainers in SATC 🤔🤔🤔

She had hip surgery in series 1, and had to wear flat shoes - apparently all she had were the pair of Birkenstocks that she wore to the hospital.

That glamping tent was huge! Wouldnt mind doing that sort of glamorous camping.
I hate AJLT Harry.

Spoilers.

No we didn’t need to have that scene with Miranda !
Also her being an annoying house guest is a bit out of character for her I feel.
Still showing a tiny kitchen, I’m beginning to think that is actually the only kitchen in the place. Paid all that money for a tiny kitchen and also not even getting the whole house as someone lives under you !

I'm guessing the reason Carrie doesn't have a proper kitchen is because the house's original kitchen is the downstairs flat. Does anyone watch The Gilded Age? The Gramercy house is in line with the sorts of houses being built by rich industrialists in NY during the 1880s. Kitchen (and servants) in the basement.

PurplebeadedFendi · 28/06/2025 11:02

Sadly, I think they will be killing off Harry. Charlotte saying she didn't know what she would do without him; Harry talking about the 92% survival rate (he's going to be one of the 8%). And Charlotte needs a meaty storyline - they can't just have one child/school related bore-fest after another. Having Charlotte - out of all of them - back on the dating scene would be an interesting development. Especially if she has a second bite of the cherry with Trey.

PorgyandBess · 28/06/2025 11:06

Oh, I like Harry. I wish they’d kill off Charlotte. Her acting as a corpse would probably be more convincing.

Crikeyalmighty · 28/06/2025 11:06

I think one of the big issues and impossible to get around is that two of the characters who injected the most humour Stanford and Samantha cannot be in it. However I do still think it’s good to see women in their 50s ( and 60 in real life) getting on with life, albeit that life being different - it could never be the same as it was , but I still enjoy it for what it is . To be honest for me it’s all vastly improved with the awful Che gone- I never bought it that Miranda would be remotely interested in her/it .

Holluschickie · 28/06/2025 11:06

I am absolutely certain they won't kill off Harry.
There will be more boring scenes about their sex lives and blow jobs and secretions and peeing. My god the foreshadowing on this one!

PurplebeadedFendi · 28/06/2025 11:14

@Netaporter Thank you for identifying Jonathan Cake from The Affair. I knew I had seen him somewhere. That was such a great series.

@Lottapianos Glad you noticed Linda at the bank was the same Linda at the bank turning down Carrie. When I watched it, I actually shouted out, "That's Linda!". I love all the SATC geekiness!

However, Seema seems to be a bit of an idiot (and not a great businesswoman) if she hasn't built up a financial profile that makes her a good prospect for a loan so she can become an independent realtor. I don't like this continued portrayal of women who are only wealthy because a man props them up. Samantha was always the kick ass in this respect. Her own firm, her own money, her own woman, no man needed. Even Miranda (who I maintain should be rolling in it) seems to have nothing more than modest means because she didn't marry some rich bloke to provide her with a Park Avenue apartment.

Crikeyalmighty · 28/06/2025 11:17

@Holluschickie I agree it’s not exactly sexy viewing , but it is reality, especially for those in our early 60s - I cannot tell you the number of guys I know going through this - ( and I’m in that age group) - depressing I know but some aspects of life at this stage can be for many. I guess it’s a fine balance between what makes fun viewing and what is reality . Personally reality would be Carrie getting a nasty bout of plantar fasciitis with all those skyscraper shoes !! lol

Holluschickie · 28/06/2025 11:23

I don't like the constant emphasis on finding a man to support you and provide you with an apartment either. Didnt like the Seema storyline.I hate the way LTW panders to needy Herbert and his horrible mum because he pays the bills.

But then I guess SATC was never about feminism. For that we need to watch Happy Valley!

@Crikeyalmighty I am 53 so am sure it's coming my way. But it's so boring. I want old witty Harry back. Not moany leaky Harry. And why make this bit so realistic when nothing else is?

Holluschickie · 28/06/2025 11:33

You know what, I would love if they brought Enid back. She appears to pay her own bills and possibly owns her own apartment. I love Candice Bergen.

I loved the Affair too but can’t for the life of me remember which role Jonathan Cake played in it. Please enlighten me!!

She was in the first series, iirc. No longer at Vogue (let go I think) and running a podcast Carrie turned her nose up at and in need of money. She also epitomised a cliche, of the hard nosed career woman who didn't have a man and was desperate for one - hence her time-sharing a fellow with another woman and desperately flirting with Alexandr Petrovsky, thinking him getting her a drink was worthy of a man of the year award. I didn't like the way she was portrayed in the end, when she started off as a strong female character in a tough business, not taking any of Carrie's bullshit.

Yes, I saw that. She had a super successful newsletter and had just launched Vivante magazine. But we need an update in S3.

I forgot about her Petrovsky pursuit!

Ugh, his character was vile. Do you remember the dreadful eldest daughter of the Maura Tierney & Dominic West characters, Whitney? In series 3 she's working in film or media or something and is with a much older man, a photographer, who treats her badly. That's Jonathan Cake.

Holluschickie · 28/06/2025 11:48

JC was Furkat in The Affair and Bree's nasty blackmailing policeman boyfriend in Desperate Housewives. Often plays nasty characters.

westisbest1982 · 28/06/2025 12:06

I liked that Enid was one of the few people in SATC who didn't fall over themselves to like Carrie.

In a weird twist of fate, Candice Bergen's daughter is the editor of vogue.com

Doubleraspberry · 28/06/2025 13:15

I don’t understand why Seema is asset poor. She’s been painted as a kick ass realtor. Was she actually in partnership before? How could it be sold under her? Where’s her share? Where’s her client list. None of it makes sense.

Also, the ‘biographer’. That’s just not a thing in the way this is being painted. No one writes a ‘biography’ of Henry VIII and then Thatcher. If you’re writing about Tudor kings you’re an early modern historian. You’re not writing about Henry’s life without the full context of his time and actions. You’re bringing a new perspective of some sort to his lifetime and that means it’s your specialist subject. You don’t then pivot to 20th century political history, where all the same factors exist for Thatcher.

And even if you DID, you don’t spend six months living in the city where many of your archival documents exist and ‘having fun’ and then move to NYC, where literally none of your research material lives (or maybe some very tangential pieces) and then work there.

The writers just needed to make him a highly successful novelist. They could have avoided all this. In fact, Carrie trying to write her first novel (which appears to be the worst novel ever written) and ending up with a neighbour who is top of his game in her new field, would have been way more interesting. A nice flip on the relationship with Berger where he saw her as the successful one. Inventing insecurity for the biography guy with ‘this is my first time writing about a woman’? Give me strength.

No way did that townhouse have a downstairs apartment below it when Carrie moved in last season. They have literally shoehorned that in!

And why/how is it such a hovel?
