Yes, I understand ROD will be Miranda’s love interest - Cynthia Nixon’s RL wife looks very similar to her… CN is very influential on the show/storyline. It was reported that the Che character was her idea…I’m betting that ROD is a new professor maybe?

What I would like to see is some actual love for New York.

The original series was as much Carrie's love affair with NY than with any of her beaus. Carrie asking Big to take her back to NY from Paris was symbolic of that parallel love affair. There was a bit of that love in the first movie, but nothing in the terrible second film. And I wasn't getting much love in AJLT 1&2.

I know the NY of Carrie's youth was all new clubs, restaurants and It Girl pastimes, but I'd love to see an appreciation of NY from her point of view now, as a 50-something woman, and a portrayal of the city as being for more than just the single and the young.

I really enjoyed SATC but found And just like that terrible. I hated how Miranda was treated and yet we seemed to be expected to think it was fine because her love interest was a female who used they/them pronouns?
I thought if a man had treated her the same way a different feel would have been portrayed.

AJLT Miranda is unrecognisable. No way would old Miranda have taken anything other than a cynical view of the Che's of this world. She was resolutely straight, we know that from the episode she pretended to be gay to curry favour with the senior partner at her firm. I never thought her relationship with Steve was right for her, but she was never cruel to him like she was in AJLT (and they portrayed him horribly). Sadly, this is Cynthia Nixon’s agenda at play, not anything to do with staying true to our beloved, cynical touchstone Miranda. We will probably have more of the same with someone else. It will be interesting if that someone else is a biologically male non binary character. Or will Miranda become a lesbian, since she declared her jizz aversion in season 2.

Che going is the best thing that can happen to AJLT. Horrible character, doing no favours for the community “they” are supposed to represent.

Che was probably on a par with Big, Petrovsky, Aiden and some of Carrie's other boyfriends in terms of being an insufferable arse. So I suppose in that sense there was some consistency with the previous show 🙄Old Miranda did her fair share of angsting over guys although not to the extent of Carrie and Charlotte. New Miranda is tolerable at best without Che, but I would not be sad if Cynthia Nixon spent more time behind the camera so we can pretend Miranda is off in London with Samantha delivering killer one-liners and being high achievers. Alas instead we will no doubt get another gutful of her finger wagging and piety. Just please let there be no more strap-ons!

I think filming started in May, so a 2025 debut seems likely. A few shows have been pushed back to the new year after everything was delayed by the actors' and writers' strikes.
