Having listened to many interviews with previous contestants ( on Lara on Eyre in Spotify ), I found it really shocking and disappointing how much of the show was edited and manipulated. And I felt angry that we the viewers were manipulated. It's such a shame as the actual reality of the couples could be so interesting!

Thanks for the link to the podcast. Some interesting points. Jono came across well, except for the lack of eye contact with Ellie. Wondered if the interviewer had watched much of the season at all though!

I knew it would be edited up to a certain extent but to deliberately paint them out to be hated by everyone- Jono saying he’s had messages of details of how he should kill himself sent to him! That’s awful on the producers side- they knew that would be the response. I wish them well

One of the Producers has addressed the editing in the show.

They said whilst they do edit, nobody gets an edit that purposefully makes them look bad. If they look bad it’s purely because they behaved in a way that made them look that way. But that they always blame ‘the edit’.

And that in actual fact, some people behaved far worse than how they looked.

What I find coincidental interesting, is that everything Jono has ‘claimed’ happened was, according to him, edited out. How convenient….🤔

I do think people who make threats to people who’ve appeared in the show should be dealt with. Whether you liked them or not, that is absolutely unacceptable behaviour and quite frankly, batshit that people would go to the lengths of making death threats to someone who appeared on a tv show that they didn’t like.

There were not AI replicants saying the things that Jonno and Ellie said. They were not reading from a script. They spoke using their own words and they need to accept responsibility for this as well as for their disrespectful behaviour.
Trolls are going to troll as these are the times we are in unfortunately and I would never condone trollish behaviour. But I hope that those claiming a bad edit reflect on how that could have possibly occurred and own their part in it.

Lara on Eyre has just done an interview with Richard. Interestingly, he didn't say that the edit made him look bad. He didn't come across too bad, admitted he'd made mistakes, said he's dating someone else now, but also that him and Andi haven't spoken for a month. The interview is on Spotify if anyone's interested.

I think leaving out a massive bit of info that Lauren had a guy on the outside was going to make jono look bad. If everyone knew that, no one would blame him for texting Ellie etc

I agree but editing could be done to make it seem like that certain response was put with another question or reaction. They said the dinner parties were 8 hours that a lot of footage to play with

Lauren has said this isn’t true.

This is what the producers said:

The producers revealed some of the cast members actually got an edit to make them seem better than they actually were.
“Being there, I don’t know anyone who got a s**t edit,” they added. “I can see words get choppy, but the essence of the message or character of the person is there. The minute somebody doesn’t like what they see, they go: ‘It’s the edit’. But really, they’re just not self-aware.”

They went on: “Everybody got an accurate representation on that show. If anything, so many things were left out because there was so much (as is the case in all reality TV).”

Yeah. If they edited in a way to make a person look bad and totally different to who they really are or what happened would that not open up production companies to lawsuits?

Everybody knows stuff will have been left out and we don't see everything.
