I've had a productive day. Ds2s wardrobe emptied and sorted and ex messaged about some boxes of his stuff. Recycling centre booked for tomorrow and car filled again.

It’s funny you mention that. I really enjoy the show, but when I watched the latest episode I thought that was really odd - not just that the mum could afford to buy her 18 year old DD a car but also that they included that in the programme, as it wasn’t relevant in any way. I actually suspect the family wanted to include that, which to me is a bit problematic.

I think they probably just thought it was a nice thing to see happen to a girl who had been through what she’s been through. Just a nice telly moment.

EndlesslyDistracted · 16/03/2025 19:47

I didn't give it any thought, their finances are irrelevant to the show. Could be earned or from inheritance, investments etc. A car may well be an essential living in semi-rural area.

@BigBoysDontCry Did you know you can recycle Lego directly through the company? https://www.lego.com/en-gb/sustainability/replay?locale=en-gb

You mentioned gathering big bags of it so thought I’d mention it in case you intended to get rid of rather than store it.

Thank you, that's a great sounding organisation. But, no we don't want rid of it. It was basically all my DSs wanted as gifts (especially DS1) their entire childhood.

DS1 had started to try to sort it all back into sets but he didn't really have the space to get it all out. So it's part sorted by colour.

I'm not sure what the eventual plan for it all is. DS1 is diagnosed autistic and DS2 is dyspraxic but is probably ADD if not also autistic. They are very attached to it.

This was before we were finished collecting it all so there is a bit more now.

@BigBoysDontCry - we sold a lot of it to fund a trip for everyone. Lego has a massive resale value so it was great - someone got less expensive Lego, we got space back in the bedrooms and money for a trip everyone wanted.

Some genuinely useful tips from Iwan today, and a very sweet DIY from Stacey with the dolls house

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 18/03/2025 20:44

Gorgeous kids

Yourethebeerthief · 18/03/2025 20:53

Just a really lovely episode and example of what they do best on this show.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 18/03/2025 21:02

That family were just lovely, such doting parents and gorgeous children ❤️

I totally agree 👍

I have several somthings in my eyes! Such a fantastic programme. What adorable children and such lovely parents - a beautiful family. Being Northern Irish I loved "We're going to Northern Ireland!" "And now din dins". xxxx

CandidFruit · 18/03/2025 21:23

Loved today's episode.
Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!

Rob's desk/bookcase area in the living room was magic.
The makeup/wall art frame was inspired.
Stacey's dollhouse creation was actually genius for once
The garden office was stunning.

Such hardworking and devoted parents - lucky kids.
The team were spot on, in this case the family totally applied for the show at exactly the right time, to nip the hoarding tendency in the bud before it got out of hand.
They can now take control and move forward in their lives in a beautiful and organised home.
Well done SYLO 👏!

SleepEatSnoozeRepeat · 18/03/2025 21:33

A lovely family and a situation which I think a lot of parents can relate to, where the clutter is just getting a bit out of hand. Not difficult complex mental health issues, just a busy family.

I liked the home office but with no electric hook up, it felt a bit limited. Also going to be bitterly cold in the winter. It reminded me of Laurence Llewelyn Bowen attaching pelmets with Velcro back in the 90s, no chance of it working out long term.

placemats · 18/03/2025 21:36

I think Stacey said they couldn't sort the electric out in the time but I'm sure it will have been done now. Outdoor workspaces are cold and nippy, especially in the morning, but they do work. Previous experience here.

I agree as well! I loved tonight’s episode.

Penguinmouse · 18/03/2025 22:35

Really loved tonight’s episode - the focus on systems was helpful. The “too small” box is something I’m implementing tomorrow for my toddler’s room!

MrsMoastyToasty · 18/03/2025 23:07

I wondered where they put the garden and DIY stuff that had previously been in the old shed...

ithinkicanithinkican · 19/03/2025 07:25

I was also a bit concerned re the temperatures in that garden office in the colder months, don’t think the DIY double glazing will do a huge amount! And although I thought Rob’s shelving in the living room looked great, that seat looked very uncomfortable for anyone working at that desk for more than 5 minutes - I think a proper desk chair would have been a lot better. But agree that they were a lovely family and it was a nice episode.

TheAverageJoanne · 19/03/2025 08:08

I want to marry Rob.

I want to marry Rob.

DD said “they’d be lost without Rob. In the time Rob’s built an entire garden room all Iwan’s done is get some paint off the sofa and Dilly’s made some really tacky bookshelf dividers” 🤣

I love Dilly but those dividers were truly shit.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/03/2025 11:50

You are not wrong there, @LaPalmaLlama! Those dividers were absolutely awful.

I sort my library into fiction, which is ordered in three size sections, and within those, alphabetically, and the non-fiction which is separated by subject (I did briefly consider trying to Dewey Decimalise them, but decided that might be a step too far).

TickingAlongNicely · 19/03/2025 12:10

I really liked the little girls room. I'm sure if tried to stencil flowers onto my girls walls it would have turned into a splodge. Thank goodness for wall stickers!

My version of the too small box is a charity bag next to the tumble dryer. We seem to get loads through the door and they even go to the shop done the road, the collection bank at the supermarket or mostly MIL takes them to distribute amongst wider family.

Bankholidayhelp · 19/03/2025 12:16

Think this was my favourite episode this series

Loved:
their excitement over the turntable!
the dolls house - I've seen this done before but I really liked the colour scheme.
colour scheme (s) especially the childrens rooms.
that they seemed willing to let things go and genuinely wanted to make changes.
that we are seeing the people in the warehouse setting things out.
Iwan on the bike

What I did think was that Stacey (and to be fair the others) must be genuinely lovely as the little girl was so natural with her especially and unless the baby was remarkably relaxed there was no screaming the place down (like mine would have done) as he was passed (grabbed???!!!) to Stacey.

The wooden chair looked remarkably uncomfy, but that whole set up was a vast improvement on what was before.
Dilly's bookcase dividers were awful - the concept seemed okay but the execution was so bad.

Do we know who the designers are on SYLO? Think they need a cheer.

The kids of these families always flock to Stacey, don't they.
