TonIght’s opening episode features renovation of accommodation in a Norfolk convent. From today’s Times :- “ one of the contestants first appears in an outfit that Carr playfully suggests makes her look as though she has arrived from zippos Circus and the Victorian enthusiast Ben is not an unflamboyant presence”

When my sister was a headteacher she once interviewed a women for a teaching job who wore PJs to the interview.
We could never work out if she was clueless, bonkers or conducting a social experiment.

Ready for the ikea 'hacks', endless use of absurdly impractical materials, plastic flowers hanging from ceilings, and Michelle's fabulous clothes.

That clown outfit is erm... different😂😄

Shall we have an IDM bingo thread? A point for the following:

-Upcycling by wrapping the item in string and painting it to create a vase/pen holder/candlestick
-Impractical furniture with sharp edges created from OSB or plywood. Extra point if it folds up..
-The use of terracotta and peach together
-Frilly lampshades a la Lulu Lyttle
-Home-made curtains that hand badly and are made of some shit beige fabric
-Dreadful tiling around a washbasin
-Really poor upholstery of a chair

@jay55 ooh yes - for sure Michelle will ‘remind’ them all it is not a shopping exercise (it is though).

Abigail Ahern is the guest judge this week so unless the contest has painted absolutely everything in the room/space black, they won’t be winning either 😂

More bingo squares:

weird giant headboards that would probably fall on you in the middle of the night ( and are impossible to clean)

decent furniture “upcycled” by being badly painted, and or having random stuff stuck on them.

contestant embarking on a really slow project involving something small and fiddly like shells, mosaic tiles or dried flower heads which eat into their time and look like a kids school project.

Fake flowers. Every season someone uses them despite them being universally hated by all the judges. I wonder sometimes if they've ever watched any of the previous seasons.

Ooh found some more info on House Beautiful which means we’re in for sonme marvellous challenges… plus meet the contestants..

Projects will include turning former nun's cells into B&Bs, remodelling holiday lodges at Blenheim Palace and transforming Wembley dressing rooms. Michelle will also welcome guest judges from the world of interior design including Abigail Ahern, Kelly Hoppen, Mary Portas and House Beautiful columnist Sophie Robinson.
And this year's prize? The winner will collaborate with La Redoute on a one-of-a-kind homeware collection, marking the first time a brand collaboration has been the show's prize.
