Sorry about the unimaginative thread title!

His father is Nigel Haworth of Northcote fame.

And GBM obviously.

Edited

I think that's completely unfair if that's the case, of course his meals will be composed more intricately with that influence.

TopazSky · 28/02/2024 21:34

I call nepotism.

Ducksinthebath · 28/02/2024 21:40

I do respect him for trying something different that he’s clearly passionate about. And very talented with it.

NigelHowarth is famously the polar opposite of plant based.....

Persipan · 29/02/2024 08:21

I like Kirk. I always enjoy GBM when someone does something so great that all the other chefs are just unanimously like 'well it's a ten, obviously', and he's doing that against additional constraints of being exclusively plant-based. And yeah, I'm sure he'll get a really good boost for his restaurant off the back of that - I literally just messaged my SIL who has some complicated plant-based dietary restrictions for health reasons to tell her she should check it out.

SpttyMaldoon · 29/02/2024 08:55

@jay55 im definitely going, didn’t know he’d open it in london.

website says they’ll be initially offering all the dishes he’s cooked on the show.

jay55 · 29/02/2024 09:10

Many of the chefs have been juniors to previous winners over the years.
And some years they are clearly scraping the barrel for someone's link to a region to fill the spaces.
So I've no issue with nepotism here, they still have to make tasty food looking food.

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 29/02/2024 12:58

I'm really interested to see how Kirk will fare with a new set of palates tonight, will the judges think his meat and fish-free meat and fish dishes hit the giddy heights of a 10? I was just so sad that his meat dish was so tiny, I'd be so sad if I thought I was getting the meat course at a banquet and got a tiny spoonful of pasta instead (no matter how delicious it was)

Girlsjustwannahavefungi · 29/02/2024 13:26

Just noticed that it is on an hour early tonight in case anyone wasn't aware.

shearwater2 · 29/02/2024 13:30

It's interesting how the panel at the end's opinions can differ so wildly from those of the contestants and chef during the heats.

shearwater2 · 29/02/2024 13:33

The thing with Kirk was there was just so much more link to the brief in everything he did. He has more experience in GBM than the others and it shows.

EsmaCannonball · 29/02/2024 19:01

No offence to the lovely Monty Don but I am not sure his show warrants The Great British Menu being bumped from its timeslot.

EsmaCannonball · 29/02/2024 19:02

I am firmly Team Kirk.

Sunbird24 · 29/02/2024 19:03

Evening!

I can't believe I'm home in time.

I've just had a delicious serving of tiramisu from a pizza truck.

Interested to see how this all goes down.

BiliousOhGod · 29/02/2024 19:10

Andi is looking especially fabulous tonight!

jay55 · 29/02/2024 19:10

I went to school with a man on the Welsh wheelchair rugby team.

It's very Alexis Carrington Colby Dexter.

Sunbird24 · 29/02/2024 19:13

I want tiramisu… 😩

I've just realised that Kirk would struggle to come back as a regional judge. Unless they bring him back for the vegan starter round only.

Sunbird24 · 29/02/2024 19:18

Maggots again

OP posts:
EsmaCannonball · 29/02/2024 19:18

Vegan maggots.

Sarvanga38 · 29/02/2024 19:19

Those maggots really are … well, maggots.

Sunbird24 · 29/02/2024 19:19

How do none of the judges comment on that?
