Sorry about the unimaginative thread title!

Thanks, Tom. Now I've got The Key, The Secret by Urban Cookie Collective going round my head.

BiliousOhGod · 29/02/2024 19:21

Maybe they cut it? "It smells amazing! But looks like maggots."

BiliousOhGod · 29/02/2024 19:22

Oooo, is that as close as Andi is allowed to say "No! You're wrong! They'll feel hard done by without an actual chip!"

EsmaCannonball · 29/02/2024 19:23

Fuck's sake, just do chips! Teasing chips and not delivering chips would make me Incredible Hulk levels of angry.

EsmaCannonball · 29/02/2024 19:24

I'm going to go down my local chippy and ask for a rocher of mushy peas.

jay55 · 29/02/2024 19:32

That was a bit dips and chips. Which was moaned about in another round

EsmaCannonball · 29/02/2024 19:38

It's always a bit strange when there's quite a big disparity between the judges and the opinions of the regional judge, Andi and the other chefs.

BiliousOhGod · 29/02/2024 19:39

I wonder if Kirk would be asked to do the vegan alternatives at the banquet? I know all chefs have to do them, but how much better for the people attending if they had something deliberately vegan, rather than something "less than" from a chef doing something else.

EsmaCannonball · 29/02/2024 19:41

Yes, I thought that might be a good idea. Wasn't there one year where the vegetarian and vegan alternatives were asparagus for every course? It would also avoid that situation where the meat eaters get a feast and the vegans get a cauliflower steak.

CurlewKate · 29/02/2024 19:42

@BiliousOhGod That is an amazing idea!!

Sarvanga38 · 29/02/2024 19:42

I love rare steak, but I really struggle with the way they (don’t) cook lamb on these programmes - not appealing to me at all.

Sunbird24 · 29/02/2024 19:44

It looks like this might be a bit closer so far than Michael’s scores were

OP posts:
EsmaCannonball · 29/02/2024 19:46

Isn't it funny? That was the one dish of Kirk's that Andi and Michael didn't like.

LIZS · 29/02/2024 19:46

Why did Ed swap seat?

EsmaCannonball · 29/02/2024 19:52

LIZS · 29/02/2024 19:46

Why did Ed swap seat?

Think it's just because there is more space behind the wheelchair on the curve of the table so it's easier for the waiting staff to walk around.

EsmaCannonball · 29/02/2024 19:54

No, it still looks messy and it's going to be majorly late, and it is just a bunch of choux buns. Chefs have completely changed their dishes before on this show and that's what he should have done.

Sunbird24 · 29/02/2024 19:55

Kirk has probably got it

OP posts:
BiliousOhGod · 29/02/2024 19:55

I think it's going to be close. I can't call it, but I hope it's Kirk.

jay55 · 29/02/2024 19:56

That was too much work for a couple of profiteroles on a plate

movingforward96 · 29/02/2024 20:01

Think it's bad they've not adjusted tables etc to make Stewart the same height as everyone else sat down.

littlbrowndog · 29/02/2024 20:02

Missed it too many small people getting put to bed

why 7 pm 😏

"I think that's completely unfair if that's the case, of course his meals will be composed more intricately with that influence."

NigelHowarth is famously the polar opposite of plant based.....

I think it still gives him a significant advantage it's still cooking / flavour combinations / exposure to that world regardless of whether he's found a different niche to his father

Sarvanga38 · 29/02/2024 20:06

Am amazed they were as complementary as that about the croqembouche.

shearwater2 · 01/03/2024 04:20

I love profiteroles and would be delighted with either dessert but Kirk was the clear winner. What swung it for me was the little table tennis paddles on Tuesday night, as soon as I saw those I knew he would win.

What would you suggest doing about it? Stop kids from doing the same line of work as their parents? I would have thought in other regions some of the chefs having two Michelin stars already was a bit of an advantage - GBM is not meant to be a level playing field competition for beginner chefs, they are supposed to be good already and some will have more experience than others.
