Comedy? Actually we used to sing that song in assembly when I was a teacher and it was nearly as bad. The children used to sing 'Sing O Sally!' instead of 'Sing Hosannah!'. I think singing in parts straight off was asking for trouble.

My mam and grandma walked with me in a pram into Gateshead town centre. There was a large department store, called Shepherds, and people parked their babies in prams in the entrance and went off to wander round. My mam and grandma wandered round, had a cup of tea and a pice of cake and walked home. My aunt was outside the house waiting for her and asked my mam where I was. She ran all the way back into town panic-stricken and I was just lying quite happily in the pram.

I can't imagine parents doing that now, mass parking of prams and leaving babies in the entrance of , say, John Lewis.
