Could someone please explain 'split or steal' to me? I'm crap at games and never understand the rules!

HueyDeweyandLouie · 25/01/2024 14:29

Looks like The Daily Record article I linked to earlier is lifted from a Daily Mirror article that contains a few more details...
• There are 4 or 5 confessional rooms - all identical.
• Some players might be 'scouted' - chess club players, poker club players, strategy games enthusiasts.
• Claudia picks traitors after consultation with producers (I think)
• Contestants get Sundays off

But still no answer as to the traitors' turret room - real or fake...?

Truth behind The Traitors - how much stars get paid to where they really sleep

Our TV writers explain how the treacherous murder mystery TV show is really made; including where the contestants actually stay to whether host Claudia Winkleman really picks the Traitors

lol! Yes - and still we've got questions! 😆

Twonewcats · 25/01/2024 14:36

I cannot understand the hate for Harry. He's playing a game on an entertainment show.

To leap from that to saying that he's a narcissist who would cheat on his girlfriend is absolutely disgusting.

And in fact, it seems his girlfriend has possibly cheated on him, which I expect will make a lot of you happy 🫣

IGotItFromAgnes · 25/01/2024 14:36

If the final is run the same as in the last season i.e. the players decide when it ends based on whether they think there are any traitors left, I wonder what would happen if it gets down to two players and they can’t agree?

Twonewcats · 25/01/2024 14:36

I missed the chat when Andrew said Harry was elusive, so got v confused watching the round table, as I had no idea who was actually telling the truth 😅

Why does nobody realise that the editors have had a field day of fun editing out HOURS of footage to make us think first one way, then the other?

I so would love to work on this programme!

We have frequently bowed down to the brilliance of the editors in this series - last week's trilogy of episodes was particularly compelling, they did such a great job (which is why last night felt a little flat maybe).

However, they can only work with the material they have, and in a semi-scripted reality show such as this, there will always be an element of things not quite working out to plan (as in the much anticipated Ross/Diane redemption we all hoped for this week that ended up being a damp squib).
It played out well for the popularity and noise around the show as a whole though, because Diane and Ross have taken on a life of their own outside of the game - which, with all the planning in the world, is sometimes not a given.

There's a balance between controlling the narrative and letting the game play out as it does when you have 'real' people involved.

I didn't see the last series, but I gather from the chat on here that the couple/relationship in that was also a bit of a non-starter. It makes me think they will work harder next year to really firm up those connections if they are to continue the idea of related pairs (which I really like - or at least, secrets within secrets...)

Money pot. Two players, each choose to split or steal. If both split, the pot is split equally. If one steals and one splits, the stealer gets everything. If both steal, nobody wins anything.

Can adapt the rules for more than 2 players but that's the premise. It's the Prisoner's Dilemma.

I’m going to get alot more done after Friday, as I won’t have this thread to read! Leave it five minutes, and another twenty comments have been added.

Uncloaked was good, Ross AND Diane were on it, and one of the other guests clearly fancied Ross.

Ooh, who do you think fancied Ross? I listened to it rather than watched it!

ChatBFP · 25/01/2024 15:03

I also agree that Andrew probably could have chosen not to go for Ross in quite those terms. He could have agreed that he said that and it was an honest observation based on his interactions with Harry today, but that he personally had suspected everyone at some point today it was just that he'd only been asked about Harry. He could say he suspected others far more than Harry and didn't appreciate Ross stirring the pot.

ChatBFP · 25/01/2024 15:05

Because it looks as if Andrew's character suddenly changed. If Ross had escaped today, then it would be massively better for Andrew, so maybe he should have contributed when others talked about Zak or Jasmine.

WhereAreWeNow · 25/01/2024 15:16

Thanks @NonPlayerCharacter 😊

JaneJeffer · 25/01/2024 15:21

I think Andrew was worried about Harry going for him because he still lied to Harry after Ross was banished and made out he never said it at all.

NonPlayerCharacter · 25/01/2024 15:24

Andrew should be worried because Harry will absolutely throw him under the bus in the finale.

Agree.

@NonPlayerCharacter I think you gave a bit of a spoiler for both Aus seasons on the previous page. Several people have said they want to watch them after so maybe you should ask for your post to be deleted?

MaggieFS · 25/01/2024 15:48

I can only speak for myself, but I don't hate Harry. I dislike as lot of how he comes across. I don't know what he's like IRL to say I dislike him totally. And none of that means I don't think he's being a very good traitor. It just means I'd prefer someone else to win.

Samcro · 25/01/2024 16:09

as i posted earlier , i don't think anyone hates harry, not the reall harry, he is playing a character.
and being edited. in rl he is most likely a nice man,

You're right, my apologies. I'll report it.

AddieLoggins2 · 25/01/2024 16:29

Does anyone think Ross could still get his revenge?

I'm sure at breakfast he said something (I can't remember who he was talking to) about how the traitors could have recruited the night Harry had the shield. The idea was quickly dismissed.

Maybe now they know he's a traitor and they will surely be thinking he wouldn't murder his own mum! (So could have been recruited after Diane's murder) someone will come back to this conversation and put 2&2 together.

@AddieLoggins2 Yes, he was dismissed and talked over - probably by Zack, who likes the sound of his own opinions so much he forgets to listen to other people's. I don't think Ross said it to anyone in particular, just to the room in general.
