Re Harry - again, I can only speak for myself - I think my own posts last night and this morning were on the back of deep disappointment about how last night's episode played out.
Of course I don't hate him! I don't know him; but the persona he's taken on for the game is not one I find very pleasant. He comes across as ruthless and devoid of guilt. But, of course, I don't know his innermost thoughts.
I said up thread, and in the last thread, that I make allowances for him on grounds of his youth, which I do.
Though I can see he's played well, in the sense of staying in and nearing victory, I actually don't personally find his game very entertaining - to plough through everything, and throw every other traitor under the bus at the first opportunity, wouldn't be my way.
Other people think differently, and that's fine. I haven't dwelt on it, but, as @MaggieFS said, I would just rather someone else win 🤷‍♂️

MaggieFS · 25/01/2024 16:42

I would LOVE it if someone could think through (and say out loud!) the idea that Ross was a recruit, because he wouldn't have killed his own mum. That opens the door to the Harry/shield cover up and a question mark over how many traitors remain. But I think the only person capable of rationally thinking through the scenarios is Jaz and he won't be listened to.

mrstea301 · 25/01/2024 14:57

Ooh, who do you think fancied Ross? I listened to it rather than watched it!

I’m not the one who posted this but I had the same thought! Alex (s1) became far more chatty and flirty once Ross was brought on. Thought she was still with the magician though as he was on an earlier episode and neither mentioned that they had split up (unless I missed something). Could be making something of nothing but if two of us noticed it, who knows?!

JaneJeffer · 25/01/2024 16:52

But if Ross was a good traitor he would have killed anyone even his own mum!

Jasmine totally dismissed the idea that someone had been recruited and thought that a traitor who knew he had the shield pretended to try to kill Harry as a cover up!

Just seen this on Twitter 🤣

Charlie Brooker once wrote a very good article about the concept of "hating" people on TV.

I do admit that Harry creeps me out more than other Traitors. I don't get this from Andrew and much as I "hated" Wilf, I never got this from him either...in fact, this has made me like Wilf more.

But as much as I feel, for various reasons, we may have seen more of who he really is outside of game mode, I'm sure that almost everyone who says they "hate" him doesn't actually wish him any harm. We just don't want him to win! It's a personality-led game so there are going to be likes and dislikes and it's very immersive and intense; you won't enjoy it if you're not the type to get into it. It's a programme that holds mock funerals with people in coffins and talk of murder and banishment - come on, we know it isn't literal.

And yes, of course we know it's selectively edited!

Charlie Brooker: Celebrities on TV are fair game - but Heat was wrong to turn a disabled child into a figure of fun

Charlie Brooker: In my limited experience, the more unpalatable you find someone's TV persona, the nicer they turn out to be in real life

Aww, bless him! I mean that in a totally non-patronising way. Sweet Ross. Far too decent a human being to be a good traitor 😊

Yes, he would, but based on the critical thinking of the majority so far, they would well assume that!

NonPlayerCharacter · 25/01/2024 17:03

Ross is basically Tommen Baratheon.

Ariela · 25/01/2024 17:11

If Ross was a good traitor he'd never have owned up Diane was his mum. So, as the traitors wanted Diane out he'd have to go along with it unless he could argue better FOR someone else going

MotherofGorgons · 25/01/2024 17:17

Ross is very likable. But not a good player of the game either as Traitor or Faithful.

Looks like the same info in different newspapers.

So not only do they rob stories from MN, they do it to each other too 🤔 🤪

I hesitate to post this as it's a DM link but they are suggesting Harry could be the next Bear Grylls. It mentions him being in the army up until he went to the castle. And that he would like to use his potential winnings to 'start a new chapter' in his lives Is he not in the Army any more then?

If he has already left then this makes me think that he is in cahoots with the producers to engineer a result that both helps launch Harry and makes the show rights saleable across the world just like Big Brother. The getting and concealing of the shield as he instantly thought it could provide cover for a traitor recruitment has always been struck me as begin beyond Harry's intellectual capabilities. His desire to launch a career from this is big so he will do whatever the producers tell him.

I just hope they didn't tell him to murder Jaz.

Can't remember her name but she was sat nearest Ed Gamble, went out of her way to tell Ross he also had a good looking face, what with his dimples. She was definitely into him.

Sounds like a load of shite. Why would the producers care less about Harry's future career?

Alchemistress · 25/01/2024 17:33

I need to rewatch the cabin task because it seemed odd at the time that Charlotte just left the shield in the skeleton. I know it was dark but she virtually had it in her grasp. And Harry's reaction to finding it seemed a bit over egged. So I wouldn't be surprised if some of this isn't completely manipulated by the production team.

I'd imagine any gameshow with a cash prize has to pretty heavily regulated for fairness, no?

I haven't rewatched but I THINK the difference was that when Charlotte was in there, it was dark - not 100% sure why - something with the upstairs guys being pelted with water or fruit...

And so she gave up and cracked on, then Harry was just sat in the tunnel behind her and the lights were on full by that point and he saw it clearly lit up.

So it wasn't as flukey as all that, IIRC. I genuinely don't think it's as scripted as PP is implying - I'm sure they ask leading questions in the "diary room" bits, and I'm sure the edit is creative to the MAX - but I don't think they'd manipulate the actual events as they are unfolding.

Perhaps I'm very naive though!😅

Ladybird69 · 25/01/2024 17:39

I haven’t read the whole thread yet but I just wanted to jump in and say that surely someone would think, hang on Ross was a traitor! What was the last things he said? And that would open up the fact of him trying to turn harry and Andrew against each other and then Andrew and Harry knowing that they were both going behind each other’s backs and for Harry to bring it up at the table! Harry saying that Ross told me that Andrew said that i was being elusive! The others seem so fixated on jasmine that they’re just not seeing it. I also noticed that Harry uses the line Trust me, a bit too much for my liking. I’d love Andrew to win. He’s really playing the game.

MaggieFS · 25/01/2024 18:03

A further thought ref. Harry and the tunnel task. I can't recall exactly, but presume the time I was excitedly spelling out his plot was in the diary chair? So that's some considerable time after he swiped the shield. He may not have had the strategy immediately to hand, but had had time to think about it by the time of the diary session?

MaggieFS · 25/01/2024 18:04

FWIW, I don't think the Harry situation is engineered as pp said, but could well be building him up for a fall.

@WoolyMammoth55

I’ve just skipped back to watch it and you’re right - Charlotte is completely in the dark while she’s feeling around for the shield. So frustrating as she knew it was there, just couldn’t find it amongst the mush!
