TRIGGER POINT. SUNDAY ITV 9pm. TV PACE. NO SPOILERS

Vicky McClure is back for a second season, but her late partner Joel "Nut" Nutkins won't return after he was killed in a spectacular opening episode of the first series.

Mark Stanley, who played Wash's slightly clingy boyfriend DI Thom Youngblood reprises his role and Wash's EXPO team, John Hudson (Kris Hitchen), Hassan Rahim (Nabil Elouahabi) and Danny (Eric Shango) also return.

Bomb data expert Sonya Reeves (Kerry Godliman) is back, which is good news for Wash as she became Wash's most trusted colleague following Nut's death. Kevin Eldon, who played Wash's father Jeff, also returns.

In episode one of the second season, Lana is just back from secondment training Ukrainian bomb disposal teams, but has not returned to active duty.

She is giving a routine talk to security officers from major financial institutions about the issues surrounding bomb centred terrorism, when there is a bomb attack in the heart of the city. Lana is closest to the incident, but is she ready to take it on?"

Series two could also delve further into Vicky's personal life, although whether she'll still be with DI Thom Youngblood is another matter.

Their relationship seemed strained at the best of times, so her fling with Karl Maguire will hardly have helped things...

Yes I was hoping for an exploding cake tbh.

Lana is getting a bit irritating with how headstrong she is and how she won't listen or accept help. I wonder if her parents are going to be a target? Seems odd that we keep returning to their petty arguments, I wonder if there's more to it.

That posh man was an ungrateful prick! Let you get blown up next time just so your wedding isn't disturbed hey?

And I thought the scooter bombs were a bit lame compared to the size of the other bombs that have been going off. They didn't seem to fit.

Clawdy · 19/02/2024 08:14

Gripping as usual, but Lana under the toilet block with her screwdriver was a bit unlikely! Then the drive away with the bomb at the back......luckily we know as it's Lana, she's going to survive!

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/02/2024 12:44

Lana will always survive

Unlike bloke in s1. And then Hudson and then thom

Was the point of the scooter bombs maybe more that they were innocent civilians but the terrorists had video of them right up to the point they blew up. So quite an emotional impact?

The acting of the senior policeman is hilariously dire, I am loving it. Also Webster the guy whose wedding almost got blown up.

I’m worried, very worried, for Lana’s sidekick who is getting married soon.

I kind of liked the scene in the toilets where Thom’s girlfriend got exasperated at Lana being a snarky arsehole, was waiting for her to explode and call her a cow or something and all she came out with was “you’re so….difficult to talk to”. She’s growing on me.

butterpuffed · 19/02/2024 14:05

I'm wondering whether Lana's parents are in the drama to show she has a life apart from work , but it also shows she has trouble on all sides , not just work and deaths of people she loved . Wouldn't be surprised if she ends up having a breakdown .

Her informer [can't remember his name] is a dead man walking .

daffodilandtulip · 19/02/2024 15:09

Her informer [can't remember his name] is a dead man walking .
And probably mainly due to police actions!

Yes I didn't like the girlfriend at first but I quite like her now. She seems to have more of a backbone than she seemed to at first.

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 19/02/2024 19:34

I found it funny that two people stated that there was enough explosives to destroy the big house but it did no worse than knock Lana over as she was running away less than 30 meters from the explosion. Dh was also very impressed that in less than 2 minutes she managed to locate a Land Rover, hitch it up and drive it away. It takes him longer than that to reverse and line up the hitching point between his Land Rover and trailer even with someone guiding him back. That said I'm enjoying the show.

Clawdy · 19/02/2024 20:27

Exactly what I thought! That explosion would never have destroyed an enormous manor house and grounds.

BetiYeti · 20/02/2024 23:05

It’s dreadful, but I have to keep watching. I hate drones and the noise they make, so this show hasn’t helped with that! Nice to see Patricia from Brookside. I find Kerry Godliman an odd casting, but I do like her. This show makes me pine for Line of Duty though 😂

Igotmylipstickon · 22/02/2024 12:24

I know it's a bit late into the series, but if you like podcasts, these guys are doing a brilliant weekly one on this series. Think I've only kept watching the show so that I can listen & enjoy the podcast 😁They originally did Line of Duty and used to be called "Shine of Duty".

ageingdisgracefully · 25/02/2024 21:51

I reckon Lana's mum is next in line to be offed. Something about all that familial conflict...

Clawdy · 25/02/2024 22:45

Loved Lana's outburst at the annoying boss! But nasty of her to tell Thom's girlfriend that he was wanting to leave her.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/02/2024 15:00

She recognised the visitor. Wonder who it can be

So Webster is no more

They know Alex is blabbing

Or is Alex really a baddie ?

Wonder how will end next week

Webster's death was shocking. Who knew folk could be killed like that? It was more akin to a KGB hit. The villains like a bunch of students more suited to a CND march. Why are they all such explosive experts it seems odd and the anticapitalist cause a bit vague.

I do like the tension and Lana is a brilliant character, it is gripoing and v good but the plot is a little shaky imo.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/02/2024 16:51

It did give a warning befire the last advert break and I did wonder why

Yep I wondered that as she kept calling Lana for what seemed like pointless to the plot reasons.

I wonderred how her oven could get they dirty when she is never there.

One more episode to go!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/02/2024 09:59

Ha ha. I thought the same about oven

I hope mum is ok
