Vicky McClure is back for a second season, but her late partner Joel "Nut" Nutkins won't return after he was killed in a spectacular opening episode of the first series.

Mark Stanley, who played Wash's slightly clingy boyfriend DI Thom Youngblood reprises his role and Wash's EXPO team, John Hudson (Kris Hitchen), Hassan Rahim (Nabil Elouahabi) and Danny (Eric Shango) also return.

Bomb data expert Sonya Reeves (Kerry Godliman) is back, which is good news for Wash as she became Wash's most trusted colleague following Nut's death. Kevin Eldon, who played Wash's father Jeff, also returns.

In episode one of the second season, Lana is just back from secondment training Ukrainian bomb disposal teams, but has not returned to active duty.

She is giving a routine talk to security officers from major financial institutions about the issues surrounding bomb centred terrorism, when there is a bomb attack in the heart of the city. Lana is closest to the incident, but is she ready to take it on?"

Series two could also delve further into Vicky's personal life, although whether she'll still be with DI Thom Youngblood is another matter.

Their relationship seemed strained at the best of times, so her fling with Karl Maguire will hardly have helped things...

Thought Thom would survive, but each episode a character goes! Except Lana of course.

I'm not going to say much because I've been very naughty and binged but just to say stick with it!! It gets proper I mean proper tense!!

Squeezing into the naughty step as I have to admit to watching Ep4 straight after Ep3 last night. So tempted to do 5 and 6 in the week....

I really was expecting Lana to run in and save Tom's life. Did not expect him to be dead. I like how we can show that women can put the crap behind them to present a united front when needed.

I did guess that was a part of an underground map straight away. Very tense though. Oh and I like that the power plant guy is being a grass.

The state of the world right now, I don't actually think it's far fetched at all, sadly.

The actress playing the journalist cutting open the parcel looked so familiar, sure she has been in another series but can't remember! I tried googling the cast list for the episode but can't find her name.

It is Gabrielle Glaister. Depending on your age she played Patricia Farnham in Brookside!

Such a shame that they killed him off, I quite liked his character. Also a bit of a risky way of doing it as the place was full of cameras and to get close enough to push him could surely have resulted in him reaching out to grab her and they'd both have gone down the shaft.

Surprised about Paticia Farnham (never heard of Bob lol), as she's a known face I thought she must be tied up in it all but seems she was just a parcel opener afterall.
