TRIGGER POINT. SUNDAY ITV 9pm. TV PACE. NO SPOILERS

Vicky McClure is back for a second season, but her late partner Joel "Nut" Nutkins won't return after he was killed in a spectacular opening episode of the first series.

Mark Stanley, who played Wash's slightly clingy boyfriend DI Thom Youngblood reprises his role and Wash's EXPO team, John Hudson (Kris Hitchen), Hassan Rahim (Nabil Elouahabi) and Danny (Eric Shango) also return.

Bomb data expert Sonya Reeves (Kerry Godliman) is back, which is good news for Wash as she became Wash's most trusted colleague following Nut's death. Kevin Eldon, who played Wash's father Jeff, also returns.

In episode one of the second season, Lana is just back from secondment training Ukrainian bomb disposal teams, but has not returned to active duty.

She is giving a routine talk to security officers from major financial institutions about the issues surrounding bomb centred terrorism, when there is a bomb attack in the heart of the city. Lana is closest to the incident, but is she ready to take it on?"

Series two could also delve further into Vicky's personal life, although whether she'll still be with DI Thom Youngblood is another matter.

Their relationship seemed strained at the best of times, so her fling with Karl Maguire will hardly have helped things...

Who was the man who was getting injected (watching and cleaning up at the same time!)

It was the guy who had lit the candles for (Cleo?) and someone rang him and said he did a good job erasing the CCTV but it was time to get his hands dirty

WhatICallMyUsername · 04/02/2024 22:55

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/02/2024 22:46

Yes @WhatICallMyUsername I think she did that

To entice him up and shove /kill him

I'm hoping he isn't dead

Can't they be that cruel

But they do like to kill off cast so .......

Yeah imagine getting the call saying do you want to do series 2?

John? Oh just one episode for you

Thom? Go on then you can have two!

JellyBeanFactory · 04/02/2024 23:41

Just watched Eps 1 & 2, certainly tense and on edge of seat stuff. Good job I've got work in the morning or else I'd be bingeing!

Hope Thom isn't dead. I'm also worried about Lana's No2 who's getting married in a couple of weeks, that puts him on a kill list surely!

More Qs than As at the moment but I'm hooked in!

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/02/2024 00:06

@Mollypolly2610 called alarm. He turned off the cameras

@JellyBeanFactory yes def has marked cards lol

Vicky McClure's brilliant acting saves this imo ridiculous programme. I mean ep one we had the fire brigade standing about instead of cutting through the fence further down, then the police all careered about a high risk area surely they'd have robots to go in first and suss out any potential devices.

The gratuitous deaths are awful, yes its a called Trigger Point so folk will be blown up but the collar bomb was horrific and I struggle to imagine any terrorist group would use a collar bomb on a perfectly innocent woman.

Thom getting shoved down the lift shaft was again, baffling why would they target him and kill him in such a horrifc way. I get it that it's all to keep us gripped but I think theyve got a bit carried away shock wise.

As with the first series I should stop watching but as I said McClure's acting really does save the whole thing and make it watchable.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/02/2024 09:33

I don't think it's dire

It's enjoyable

Minus the blown up people obviously

Yes it is watchable, it's well made and the characters are all interesting just like I say the thundering about in high risk areas seems a bit jarring but an hour of an expo assessing a situstion then slowly diffusing a bomb may get a bit tedious Grin.

martinisforeveryone · 05/02/2024 12:56

I agree with you @Janiie I find the main story line and personal intrigues quite gripping, but some of the execution far too silly.

I like Kerry Godliman in it too.

Just discovered that the Shrine podcasters are covering it, so am going to give them a listen, see what they've noticed that I missed

Trigger Point (or is it Tipping Point?) is back with a literal bang. Lana has had enough of John's shit, there are massive and terrifying drones and Thom is having all the feels while trying to stay very still. You can hear these episodes early by supp...

Janiie · 06/02/2024 17:19

I retract my earlier criticism I've binged (sorry op but I had a bad leg and needed to watch something) and without spoilers I was gripped right until the last scene!

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/02/2024 18:23

Sit on the naughty step @Janiie !!!

I dont understand how you are all waiting a week till the next episode

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/02/2024 10:00

Coz I watch lots of programmes and don't binging and think if you watch 3-6hrs hours non stop you miss stuff

Plus I like to chat about episodes and stuff

I hate the fact itv bbc etx show all episodes before they've been shown on tv

Janiie · 07/02/2024 12:30

I must admit I like it when they don't stream all episodes, like Happy Valley and LOD it was good to have something to look forward to and speculate over every detail (like Joyce flinging her glasses down in HV Grin) but once they're available you only need something like a day or 2 of being unwell and housebound and that's it, all bets are off lol.

Anyway I thoroughly recommend it, I'll be back in a few weeks to discuss that ending..

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/02/2024 13:40

Yep happy valley was great no one could binge

charlieunt · 07/02/2024 22:01

I have a confession… just binged the lot. Will check back in when we can talk about it, chop chop you lot!

WhatICallMyUsername · 07/02/2024 22:05

Is there a spoiler thread?!

FancyJapflack · 08/02/2024 14:22

Finished this today. Wow. Amazing series. Gripped to the last minute!

The main woman (Hope?) is going to be one to watch. Something very unsettling about her. I quad racking
my brains trying to remember what I’d seen her in before and then remembered. I watch a lot of horror shorts on YouTube and she was in one called Rhyme Or Die and she was insane in that too 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/02/2024 14:35

Lana? From line of duty

OP posts:
WhatICallMyUsername · 08/02/2024 14:48

No @Blondeshavemorefun @FancyJapflack is referring to the female baddie (I only realised she was called Hope as the subtitles said something like "Hope coughs")

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/02/2024 16:21

Oh 😂

OP posts:
charlieunt · 08/02/2024 19:24

Yeah she did say that was her name in a later episode. Good casting there, very convincing evil baddie lady 😈
