I’m surprised Stacey didn’t rouse the Square with her hyperventilating.

cranleighma · 26/12/2023 22:13

The Six are very obviously not all going to stick to their agreed story that's for sure!

Pinenu · 26/12/2023 22:17

Suki being so careful wiping things down then putting her prints all over the tarp and tape 😱

Maybe they’ll burn the cafe again.

NorthernGnashers · 26/12/2023 22:21

The Six will be charged with concealing a body.
Why not just ring the police, I know Kathy tried but suppose it wouldn't be good for any soap if they scripted something so simple.
Anyway, the Six, between them, have made the situation much worse, maybe a scriptwriters dream though, so many possibilities. Eastenders always was Shakespearian with so many plot twists and character changes.

Gingerkittykat · 26/12/2023 22:26

I loved the Xmas day episode but this has just descended into a farce now.

There is still time for NIsh to die, I would love that to happen and for Suki and Eve live on the square in peace.

NorthernGnashers · 26/12/2023 22:28

@Gingerkittykat
Yes, Christmas Day episode was a pro feminist broadcast !
I'm paraphrasing, but Nish said something like
"I know what it's like when you women get together & drink too much wine"
And the Six all laughed at him ! Ooh, he didn't like that, his fragile ego snapped.

Infusedwithfigandhoney · 26/12/2023 22:30

Surely it will be a while before Ken is discovered?
If the caff is going to be turned into flats, planning permission etc
A couple of years??
It all relies on the 6 keeping up the story though ...

SagaNorensPorche · 26/12/2023 22:30

Tonight's was ridiculous but I love it. I'm wondering if Nish has been laying there playing almost dead and hearing all of this go on.

the80sweregreat · 26/12/2023 22:31

I can't remember what their story is !
They have changed it once already and they won't all remember it in the same order
Dee might as she has a GCSE in English lit but I haven't much hope for Stacey tbh as she was the most hysterical out of all of them

the80sweregreat · 26/12/2023 22:36

The planning for the new flats won't go through as Ian is on the planning committee and he knows what the caf meant to his mum! Plus he isn't a nish fan.
I think they might have to cut up Ken and eat him .. ( if it was a Tarantino film or a David lean appreciation episode then it might be a possibility?!)
Might be a bit much for 7.30 pm though !
I think they will set fire to the cafe ( again )
Blame it on vandals , it already has graffiti everywhere

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/12/2023 22:37

They did mention the woods 😂

Bodies always go there

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 26/12/2023 22:41

I thought they might try the spooky woods last night tbh
Although none of them seemed capable of driving . Not in those heels

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/12/2023 22:56

The heels were amazing

I can't walk in heels . Flats for me

cranleighma · 27/12/2023 00:02

@Gingerkittykat total farce but entertaining in a mindless sort of way!

Ridiculous plot device that jobless Bernie stayed in the square rather than going with the rest of the family, just so she could dob Keanu in to Phil!

Ohdearohdearohdea · 27/12/2023 00:12

Seems out of character for keanu to strangle Sharon. They have been showing him angrier in recent episodes but I don't think he is evil like that. I'm sad he never got to know Peggy (his daughter). Suki is pissing me off she had several opportunities to leave. Does Bernie share the same dad as keanu? I feel sorry for Karen to have lost another child.

Twonewcats · 27/12/2023 00:32

What a daft follow-up to yesterday 😅😅
The Six can plan Nish's involvement as much as they want, but why on Earth would he back up their story? 🤔🤷

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 27/12/2023 01:52

Are they banking on Nish not remembering what happened? That seems a bit unreliable doesn’t it? “No Nish it was Ken hit you with the bottle not Denise!”

also they planned to bring Ken to the woods but then they panicked about getting DNA in George’s car so went for the caff instead.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 27/12/2023 01:56

The story seems to be Nish came in the pub and was mouthing off about Ken and laughing at the wedding being cancelled. Ken came in and heard him and they got in a row and Ken hit Nish with the bottle. Then Ken ran off and no one has seen him since.

So I assume the plan was for them to call an ambulance for Nish once Ken’s body was hidden BUT now how will they explain the bit where Denise spoke to the copper who came about the dropped call?

VivienneDelacroix · 27/12/2023 02:38

Foolish really to put body in the Caff. It's like Tina in the Arjee Bahji all over again. Everyone knows the only place for a body in Eastenders is a shallow grave in Epping Forest.

howdyho · 27/12/2023 06:03

Linda's got to get rid of the carving fork not keep it under her bed!

rainbowruthie · 27/12/2023 07:42

Surely he will begin to smell? Guess they had better hope for some very cold weather

cranleighma · 27/12/2023 07:55

Plus they'll have to erase any cctv footage which has captured them multiple times in and out of the Vic, nipping out for a tarpaulin, carrying the body to the car and then lugging it across to the caff.

After all the hype with the foreshadowing months ago that someone would be killed off on Christmas Day, the writers and producers set themselves up to fail I think. It's like they've felt they need to go totally OTT for it to live up to the hype and it's now tipped over into some sort of comedy.

The Christmas episode is always some sort of showdown and they've done it successfully in the past but this year is just silly. Too many plot devices that just aren't convincing - characters behaving totally out of character simply to fit this crazy story line.
Bernie staying in the square with no job, no money and utterly miserable just so she can conveniently spill the beans. Keanu switching from passive, harmless guy to kidnapper and almost murdered. Suki, knowing that Nish will kill Eve if she's seen back in the square, wasting multiple opportunities to escape together....

I know I know it's not real Grin but I do think this is lazy writing that's focussed too much on surprise and shock value rather than convincing characterisation

cranleighma · 27/12/2023 07:57

Murdered = murderer

kerstina · 27/12/2023 08:56

Enjoyed Christmas days episode but Boxing days was just frustrating.
my questions .Ravi hit over the head why is he and his ex and son, daughter out looking for Nish / Suki or calling police ?
surely all this stress will push Stacey over the edge with her bipolar disorder .
what has happened to Eve .overall annoying and disjointed.

the80sweregreat · 27/12/2023 09:13

I suppose we all have to remember that the two episodes are only set over a few hours, tops.
They only had half hour to dispose of Ken's body yesterday as L thought Elaine was coming back too. So what feels like a long time for us was hardly anything for them.
I felt sorry for Albie left home alone last night
Those stairs at the Vic are very steep and he might have come down!
I feel sorry they chose Linda to be the murderer too. She's suffered enough.
Their story doesn't hold any water either
