Also, cryptic Insta posts do my head in.

marshmallowmix · 25/10/2023 10:13

yep cryptic posts wtf! just say what you are going to say...

Pretty shit of her not to thank him
IMO.

She knew exactly how that would be interpreted in the media, and as someone who has struggled with trolls, I'm she weaponised her own social media this way

He put out a lovely message and tagged her and she ignored it.

I agree. I absolutely sympathise with whatever her issues are and hope things get better for her soon. I thought she was a wonderful dancer and was looking forward to seeing more from her.

But she is a professional with a public profile and she knows how to use the media and how it's interpreted. This can't be anything other than deliberate. Just a quick 'Thank you to Giovanni' and then on to the more glowing thanks to everyone else would have been more gracious.

xsquared · 25/10/2023 10:28

I think whatever Amanda does, she will always be accused of something or another.

While I agree its unusual not to thank your partner in your farewell post, can you imagine what sort of comments she might attract by putting a gushing post for Giovanni? I have a feeling that some will accuse her of being fake and how their partnership feels "forced", which I kept seeing in the Strictly posts.of her and Gio.

Maireas · 25/10/2023 10:36

She doesn't need to be gushing or fake.
A thank you for his hard work, teaching and training would be courteous, but that's her call.

marshmallowmix · 25/10/2023 10:37

She is media savvy she is not a wall flower so she knew what she was doing by omitting any mention of Gio.

She either can't stand him and they fell out or they got too close and she can't mention him for fear of upsetting her partner as he isn't happy and wanted her to leave the show....

I suspect the latter

Lentilweaver · 25/10/2023 10:40

I don't follow any of the pros or slebs on Insta, so I am not sure what form the posts usually take. Anyway. A pity, as she was the dancer I enjoyed the most.

I expect the final will now be:
Layton
Ellie
Nigel or Bobby.

Meh.

Maireas · 25/10/2023 10:41

I agree, @Lentilweaver , I think that's going to be the final.

Yes a simple thank you to Gio was all that was required. To me there was no mistaking she was positively beaming and glowing after each dance. She got something out of the partnership. Why just say thank you to everyone else.

SoupDragon · 25/10/2023 10:42

springbabydays · 24/10/2023 23:12

I thought that was just tabloid tattle engineered by the TRA brigade @SoupDragon

Does anyone really think she'd have taken this on if her fiance being in a wheelchair would have made any difference whatsoever? Of course not. They are clearly very close and would have made that decision together. He's been nothing but supportive all the way through.

I think if it really was a medical issue she would have been more communicative about it. Didn't she have a problem with a toenail earlier in the competition?

Whatever has happened I'll miss her! Hope to see her making kooky videos on Instagram again soon.

It was on these threads too. Posters analysing their interactions. Mind you, that happens every year with at least one pairing!

Annabel and Johannes: Tango to Need U Tonight by INXS

I'm going to have to put that on mute. That song should only be sung by Michael Hutchence.

marshmallowmix · 25/10/2023 10:45

@lollipoprainbow I agree he is the root of all this I think as she was very good and not likely to just quit...

he feels threatened and she has had to jack it in he as couldn't take it

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 25/10/2023 10:47

I wish the had a rule that when someone has to pull out at short notice for whatever reason, the last contestant to be eliminated is immediately allowed back, assuming they'd be happy to do that. Sure, they might have less practice time, but not by much if it was in the contract that withdrawals have to be made no later than midday on a Monday.

Yup !

lollipoprainbow · 25/10/2023 10:53

@marshmallowmix hence why she hasn't acknowledged Giovanni in case it upsets her partner.

SoupDragon · 25/10/2023 11:01

It's not on to drag her fiancé into this and spout wild speculation as fact. It's trolling! You're as bad as the other internet trolls who post shit about people.

I've remembered why I swore not to participate in these threads this year.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 25/10/2023 11:09

@SoupDragon
I remember you saying that last year! :)

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 25/10/2023 11:11

... and I agree, it's daft at best to speculate about Amanda's relationship/ fiancé's motives etc- and offensive at worst.

lollipoprainbow · 25/10/2023 11:12

@SoupDragon and here you are participating

Exactly. No one said anything about 'gushing'. Just 'thank you Giovanni for your hard work'; it's a fairly neutral thing to say – whatever else has gone on, it's a fair bet that he HAS worked hard with her, and he deserves acknowledgement for that.

marshmallowmix · 25/10/2023 11:14

SCD is a huge and popular show....best not to go on it if you don't want publicity, good or bad...you don't get to choose.

She was very good then departed suddenly of course everyone is wondering why....human nature and all that

Sure, they might have less practice time, but not by much if it was in the contract that withdrawals have to be made no later than midday on a Monday.

But if it was for example Eddie he'd probably be promptly kicked out again the next week, so would he want to do some rushed training, be on another live show, likely have to do another dance-off and then be comprehensively out of it after just one more week?

If this scenario happened, the final would still likely be Layton, Ellie, Nigel and Bobby. Not much more inspiring than the scenario with a three-person final really.

I'd love Krishnan to make the final. He embodies the spirit of Strictly.

Lentilweaver · 25/10/2023 11:20

I love Krishnan, but I don't think he has the technical skills to make the final. To be fair, I don't think Bobby does either.

Yes would love to see Eddie back. A natural mover and shaker - loads of potential - and got a10 from Shirley!
