I love how she's still pale as fuck, but us gingers know she's got the fake tan on to 'tone down the blue'

Yes!!! I thought that too. (Ginger and blue/ porridge coloured )

SequinsandStiIettos · 01/10/2023 20:34

Les eventually found love again with former HR professional Claire Nicholson. The pair met in 2005 after crossing paths at a charity event following his divorce from Amanda. "After everything that had happened I felt damaged. At times I just wanted to bugger off to Spain and retire — to run away from all the pain. I certainly wasn't interested in another serious relationship.
"Claire, who worked in HR and now looks after our finances, was a lovely person and, yes, I did ask if she wanted to go out for dinner, but it was nothing more than me being polite." The couple went on to marry in Highgate, North London in 2009. Les and Claire also share two children together.
"Now, I have the time and energy - well, sometimes - to enjoy Eleanor to the full. She has brought such joy into my life. When Claire and I knew we wanted to be together, I wasn't sure about starting a family. But I loved her enough that I'd be happy with it. Then, when she got pregnant, I was over the moon and released somehow from any worry about being a dad again in my mid-50s."

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 01/10/2023 20:34

Relieved it's Les. His fitness is shot, it was painful to watch.

BeaLola · 01/10/2023 20:36

I'm thinking Eliza Doolittke for Annabel or Anna from The King & I or for something completely different something from Dreamgirls or how about Holly Golightly - think she would like fab in a LBD

Sunbird24 · 01/10/2023 20:22

I thought he wasn’t looking very well too - something about his eyes, probably that same puffiness. Hope he’s ok

Yes, I thought same. Very bloated and pasty, it looked like he was struggling for breath.

belgiumchocolates · 01/10/2023 20:42

Excited for movie week.

I'm hoping they don't repeat/reuse/recycle too many past dances and that they are no embarrassing makeups/costumes

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 01/10/2023 20:45

There's bound to be one pair of embarrassing costumes, at least. Bound to be Smile

I read a piece where she said she'd said no to fake tan after years of being ashamed of being so pale she's finally loving it and owning it. There might be some body make up to lessen the blue or she might be the type of pale that isn't particularly on the blue end of the spectrum. I'm more or a pink pale than a blue one.

Reminds me of good ol’ Mrs Merton to Debbie McGee - “What was it that first attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?”

I thought the same Grin

Gio and Dianne surely get a veto on those this year after the warthog and Marge Simpson… Who else has had to dance in excess padding or body paint recently?

FluffyCatBonzo · 01/10/2023 21:05

I agree that Les looked very tired out for his age.

MavisMcMinty · 01/10/2023 21:27

Ah, thank goodness, the right result. The Great British Public is pretty good on the whole. Most years people get chucked off Strictly roughly in order of merit.

Whenever I hear Nikita speak if I’m not looking at the screen I swear it’s Stacey Solomon talking!

I said exactly the same she sounds just like her!

OnTheBoardwalk · 01/10/2023 21:41

I'm going to miss Nancy. I did like the way she danced down with Les to try and not totally show him up. Yes I know it didn’t work but she tried

some other professionals could take note

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 01/10/2023 21:44

@Sunbird24
Not sure, it's all a blur, but I can still see a kung fu panda, a lobster and, I think, Shrek (maybe not recently though)

Riverlee · 01/10/2023 21:44

I’m glad Nikita went through. It wasn’t the best dance of the night, but certainly not the worse, and I think she did better than others. There were a lot of moves in her dance, which she remembered, and danced in time to the music. Plus she looked liked she was having fun and enjoying herself.

I hope people get to know her and give her a chance.

Sunbird24 · 01/10/2023 21:50

@Bluffinwithmymuffin the lobster was Dan Walker wasn’t it? And he was with Nadiya so that’s ok. Was Alijaz Shrek?

Maireas · 01/10/2023 21:55

Nikita seems lovely, she's so genuine and quite funny. She really is a novice dancer, so she'll be able to improve.

Sorrytomoan · 01/10/2023 21:59

She does look and sound so much like Stacy Solomon! It's freaky!!

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 01/10/2023 21:59

@Sunbird24
Dan was a lobster, that's true. I was remembering Scott Mills- but that might have been a crab. I can still see last year's warthog, sadly... but Frankie Bridge looked beautiful green for a Wicked themed Halloween some years ago, so not all bad.

I have no idea why Les Dennis is even taking part. He must have seen the show and been aware of the standard of dancing, even the poorer contestants with no dance experience. He seems like a nice chap but he must have known before he agreed to the show that dancing isn't one of his strengths 🙈.

Or maybe he genuinely thought he would improve? Maybe he will? 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I assume the £25 K for 2 weeks work was quite attractive Grin

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 01/10/2023 22:03

@Riverlee
I gave a vote to Nikita for that reason (and she reminds me a bit of DIL)

nomdegrrr1 · 01/10/2023 22:04

With Les Dennis - I wonder if he's very aware that he has a young family to support so getting all the gigs he can.

To be honest, I've always had a bit of a soft spot for him. I hope that he's okay.

EvilRingahBitch · 01/10/2023 22:17

Without wishing to be mean, if I was considering a trip to see the tour of 42nd Street then seeing Les's performance on Strictly wouldn't really swing me towards buying a ticket, rather the contrary. Mind you I thought he was very ropy in HMS Pinafore when I watched the broadcast performance. And at least he'll be able to do all the shows rather than dropping out of Saturdays.

catwithflowers · 01/10/2023 22:17

@AvocadotoastORahouse £25k? 😳😳😳

That explains a lot 😂
