Thinking about Katya's choreography with things like the Full Monty and Gangnam Style, I think that it's the Batman jive that's going to be epic.

What a shame they can't do the fake climbing up a building which always made me laugh.

And I've finally remembered who Nigel's teeth remind me of - Tim Henman.

With the wonders of CG you never know!
In fact, didn't someone do something along those lines in a recent year? not fake climbing, but something projected on that floor that they pretended to scale/jump/whatever.

SoIinvictus · 05/10/2023 11:51

I'd completely missed that that was Nigel Harman!
I haven't seen any soaps for years so haven't seen him in anything else. @nomdegrrr1

He is basically Tim Henman though, definitely 😁

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 05/10/2023 11:58

I like Tim Henman and would like to see him do Strictly. Very unlikely though.

I wonder if Shirley's comment about not being able to wait to see Amanda doing a rumba was factored in.
Must admit, I can do without a cha-cha (cha) for a few weeks.

Shirley's rumba comment was to Angela S. She was very enthusiastic about Angela's feet lol.

MarkWithaC · 05/10/2023 12:34

Nigel is one of those people who looks a bit like lots of other people IMO. Young Harrison Ford, Dennis Quaid, a younger Brit actor who I haven't quite pinned down yet...
I hadn't thought Tim Henman but I do see what pp mean about the teeth.

Alex (surname escapes me, footballer) and Kevin doing ghostbusters (when she should have been with Neil but he got injured) and they 'ran' on the floor with projections around them.

Oh yes, Alex Scott.

BaconAndAvocado · 05/10/2023 13:12

I’m not loving the costumes so far this year.
Annabel’s looked too big on her and very home made.
Angela’s was pretty dreadful, as was Zara’s.
Haven't seen anything yet and thought wow, that’s gorgeous.
This theme will undoubtedly continue during Film Week….

Oh was it 😂 so confusing this year.

It really is 😂

I only remember because I was thinking how weirdly pointed Angela kept her toes ... and then that was the first thing Shirely mentioned!

Lentilweaver · 05/10/2023 13:45

The costumes are shit this year. It should be a crime to put a woman as gorgeous as Lauren in a dungaree meets dress combo. Also Bobby and Dianne looked deeply tacky.

CaveMum · 05/10/2023 14:18

Gone are the days of the costumes turning up on the competition floor! I remember my dance teacher telling me she’d seen Rachel Steven’s (I think) Foxtrot dress on a teenage girl at Blackpool!

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 05/10/2023 14:27

Looking at the video thread earlier, Anita Rani and Gleb's quickstep. That was a dress to die for. Costumes have definitely been a bit sh** this year, but it's early days, I have hope.

BaconAndAvocado · 05/10/2023 15:39

Lentilweaver
Good god, yes! I'd forgotten about those costumes.
Lauren's was bleeding awful. So unflattering.
Many of the costumes this year look like they've been made by novices.

I want to see floaty dresses with thousands of feathers....

Got I feeling this won't be happening on Saturday 😂

canwetalkaboutcake · 05/10/2023 15:44

I'm a bit disappointed with the missed opportunity of dressing Katya as Catwoman, as I think it would really suit her.

There's always Halloween!

Maireas · 05/10/2023 17:07

I think they still sell the costumes? Although the market is limited for some of them...

Totally agree! Im another who wants to see floaty dresses and feathers'

Minimammoth · 05/10/2023 19:37

I want a formation Dance, with big net frock and sequins hand sown by their mothers.

Sunbird24 · 05/10/2023 20:08

Independent journalist who has clearly never watched Strictly before…

SCD '23 #4: Fourth thread, second dances, first eliminations. NO SPOILERS.
EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 05/10/2023 20:11

Aren't they at least the fourth ?

John and JoJo
Nicola and Katya
Jayde and Karen

Am I forgetting anyone?

GrouchyKiwi · 05/10/2023 20:16

Ricky and Giovanni

GrouchyKiwi · 05/10/2023 20:16

Is Ricky the right name? Music presenter chap, very high energy.

GrouchyKiwi · 05/10/2023 20:17

Richie!

Sorry for three posts. One day I'll remember I can edit. Blush

Kev n Alex Scott's "running" (Ghostbusters Couple's Choice, he was slightly off)
Nancy and Rhys's "scaling" (Spiderman Couple's Choice)
Karena and Mark Wright's paso "falling" (she fell from a skyscraper)
let's not mention Kev's literal jumping in Susanna's samba that led to him being likened to a Tree Frog

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 05/10/2023 20:41

Damnit I knew I forgot someone!
