Apparently there have been issues sharing videos on the SCD threads in the past so, to ensure it doesn’t interfere with the chat, here’s a thread just for your favourite SCD and SCD related videos.

I’ll start with an old fave, Shirley Ballas dancing a Rumba demo at a clinic with fellow ex-pro Michael Chapman.

@bizzey no, there are no penalties. In the good old days Len would knock off a point here and there if he didn’t think there was enough appropriate dance content and they used to penalise for illegal lifts, but it does seem that anything goes these days!

The issue with Salsa is that, because it’s a “club” dance, it doesn’t have a formal syllabus like the other main dances (Argentine Tango would be the same), so you can pretty much get away with anything!

I don’t remember this Samba! It should be compulsory for the female dancers to wear the traditional dresses - you can’t go wrong with a bunch of feathers glued to your butt!

I posted this on the other thread, having forgotten it was a strictly no videos thread, but here’s a 16-year old Kai auditioning for BGT - only 12 years ago, to my astonishment (he looks so much older than 28 now).

I don’t remember it either - when was it? Thought I saw Vincent in amongst the pros but I can remember when he and Flavia started on Strictly and have watched every episode since halfway through Ramprakash’s winning year. Why was Zoe Ball featured?

@MavisMcMinty it says it was Series 4 which would fit as it was Vincent & Flavia’s first year. Zoe finished 3rd in Series 3.

2006 according to this Digital Spy thread. So series 4.

I watched the whole thing, and Ian and Virginia’s dance won it in my opinion.

How different it is in Australia though! The runner up said something about “the best six weeks of my life” - is it really that short? Do they chuck two people out each week? When they say “the audience vote” I assume they mean the studio audience rather than the TV viewers?

And just one dance per couple in the final??? And SIX contestants in the grand final??? The judges’ scores seemed completely wrong to me too.

I suppose things have to be upside down in Oz.

Yes, it's from June this year and he looks great for 52.
DWTS Aus only 7 episodes including the final
other series also 7, one was 8, previous run went to 10.
This one there were 14 couples who danced in blocks of seven, alternate shows.
The finalists therefore had only done three dances before their showdance.
Ian and Virginia - paso/QS/FT/freestyle
Natalie and James - tango/cha cha/VW

The winner did a VW/paso/FT
It's a bit odd, guess it's budgets
The only time I've seen a "mini-run" on the US version was a shorter Olympian series.

On the Oz version, Courtney Act (drag artist) did an all-stars series. They had the same format then...so only 3 routines prior to the freestyle finale (jive/paso/FT).
In their original appearance though they learnt 12 different routines excluding team numbers and 10 different styles.
(jive/cha cha/tango/samba/QS/contemporary/VW/jazz/paso/diff samba/FT tango fusion/freestyle).

Doing only 3 dance styles before a show dance puts us moaning about Ange R into perspective!
No room for a journey really.

I'd want to learn Viennese Waltz then Tango then Quickstep, I think, if I could only do three.
Then put a bit of paso, smooth salsa and AT into my freestyle!

If you’ve never seen the film Take The Lead, there’s some great dance scenes and it features an old Strictly Pro Katya Virshillas (with bleached blonde hair). It’s based very loosely on the work of Pierre Dulaine who started an after school programme offering ballroom lessons to children in deprived inner city schools in New York.

It’s no Oscar winner but it’s a nice watch

Wow! Funnily enough, that was the Katya who partnered Robbie Savage on the Strictly tour rather than his former TV Strictly pro Ola, and when I googled it yesterday to find out what year it was I simply couldn’t remember any other Katya than Katya Jones, so double thanks for the link.

Puss in Boots is my cartoon crush of shame, and I’m pretty sure it’s because of Banderas. When Puss and Donkey swap bodies in whichever Shrek film it is, I stop fancying Puss until Banderas gets back.

Katya came fifth with Gavin Henson and was also partnered with Phil Tufnell and Dan Lobb. Loved her and Gavin though.
No idea why she didn't have a longer stint.
Same as Anya, who was only with Patrick one series (and did well in my opinion).

Apparently Katya now lives in Hong Kong with her husband, and child, where they run a dance school.

I keep rewatching this Tango, it’s just mesmerising.
