Apparently there have been issues sharing videos on the SCD threads in the past so, to ensure it doesn’t interfere with the chat, here’s a thread just for your favourite SCD and SCD related videos.

I’ll start with an old fave, Shirley Ballas dancing a Rumba demo at a clinic with fellow ex-pro Michael Chapman.

That dance for Len was absolutely beautiful.

Posting this after my comments on the main thread about men dancing in a “feminine” style. Yanis Marshall, in my opinion, manages to dance in a feminine style whilst remaining masculine - unlike Leighton.

As the risk of being very vulgar, I have always thought that this is the reason why male tango dancers wear baggy trouserage and keep their jackets buttoned up.

(I know - I'm a dirty ole wumman! But . . . I can't see how you could dance like that and not experience . . . things.)

Do you think the strictly pros get told not to choreograph anything too steamy as it's a pre watershed family show?

His hand placement within about 15 seconds was practically on her crotch and several times they were practically kissing mid dance. I imagine both of those would be banned on strictly.

Yes I expect there are certain choreography rules they have to follow, though we’ve had plenty of “almost” kisses in the past!

Posting a couple of videos in answer to a question on the main thread about Samba v Salsa.

This is a basic Samba choreography video. It’s not great quality but it’s taken from the Latin syllabus DVDs to show the main figures that you are expected to learn. They dance the same routine through a few times from different angles.

And here’s a basic salsa danced really well (though not great music!)

As you can see the couple are constantly rotating around each other, as you would have to do when dancing on a crowded dance floor. It’s much more contained than what you see on Strictly.

In strictly, do they get penalize if they don't keep the salsa as contained as it should be ?
