Does it count as a "shock result" if you're expecting one? I think it's become a Strictly cliché.

The only shock result, for me, would be either Layton or Ellie being I the dance off.

Other than that I think it could be anyone else in the bottom 2.

Choux · 11/11/2023 22:15

If it was Angela against Bobby surely they would have to send Angela home?

I have a vision now of the BBC using the Children in Need phones to repeat dial Bobby's number for the 30 minutes voting was open to get his votes up and put Krishna's in the dance off.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 11/11/2023 22:19

Oh...

I feel like it's Krishnan's "time" but I'd prefer Angela to go.

Just for the sake of clarity, the poll I posted is large, and usually a good indicator to how the DO is going to go, but it's not a full random sample of the public, so it could be wrong, and sometimes the polling is simply too close to call, like it is between Bobby and Krishnan tonight. If the poll happens to be completely correct then Bobby is in the DO, but a 0.21% swing would put Krishnan there.

I'll eat my hat if RAngela's not in the DO though, and I'll eat my car if Layton is.

user6776 · 11/11/2023 22:57

What a joke. Angela R saved again and Krishnan gone!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 11/11/2023 23:00

NOOOOOOOO

To be fair, much as I love Krishnan, he was the worst dancer of the week. It's perfectly reasonable that he's gone home.

Here out of interest is Dave Thorp's alternative poll. Quite different from Entertainment Odds in many ways, but still puts Angela R at the bottom and Nigel and Ellie at the top.

@EvilRingahBitch Yeah was rubbish as well but I don't think Angela was great either and she gets terribly over marked every single week

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 11/11/2023 23:01

Yes it is true he was the worst but I liked him

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 12/11/2023 07:52

Loved krish and feel gutted that A R is going to Blackpool and not him
What a stitch up

Stroopwaffels · 12/11/2023 08:24

I think the bias of the judges towards Angela R has been incredibly obvious this series. Other series there have been accusations of them having their favourites and I haven't noticed it as much, but this year has been something else. She has been given the dances which suit her right from the start, she'll do a couples' choice next week 100% to avoid jive/samba/salsa yet again.

So glad she was bottom two. Hopefully she'll go next week, then it'll probably be the other Angela and probably Annabel.

Lentilweaver · 12/11/2023 08:45

Oh so sad Krishnan is gone. To be fair, he was bad last night, but then a samba is the most difficult dance. And Angela R hasn't once done a fast dance.

I wish he had got to Blackpool and had a really joyous dance. I would have been happy with him going after that.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 12/11/2023 08:55

Damn - I didn't vote in time last night and would have sent one Krishnan's way. Loved watching him enjoying himself each week - much prefer seeing someone less than perfect having a go. As good as they are an Ellie/Layton final will be a bit disappointing.

user6776 · 11/11/2023 22:57

What a joke. Angela R saved again and Krishnan gone!

How is it a joke that the person who was bottom of the leader board and the worst dancer went home?

Lentilweaver · 12/11/2023 09:27

I think Angela was overmarked myself, so bottom of leader board doesn't mean as much as it should. 8s all round for her dance....

SequinsandStiIettos · 12/11/2023 09:48

It's the sense of injustice that Ange got 32 points in the first place (no way was it worth 8s) and that - if they took the US model of no dance off/public votes only - she'd have been out already.
It happens every year. The public vote only gets you so far. People's Champions only get so far. Whereas in the US, someone like Bobby Bones can take the title,
we've only ever had Walking Wardrobe and Chris Hollins.
Personally, I can't get upset over this one because I gave Krish 3 votes both last week and this week and I'm still not over his Couple's Choice being so bad.
Jamie Laing got a samba bounce into his routine. Krish didn't.
Plus, sadly as with Jeremy, Ed, Susan et al, there's always a point when the sleb who's not that great begins to believe their own hype. Not saying that's happened here, but "thank you to the judges, they get what we're about, which may not be perfect dance technique but a lot of fun" will only get you so far in the current format.
I struggle with how Ange comes across and only liked the start of her paso, even then Kai is pushing it to Angelina Jolie's Leg extremes, I think if she'd have done a stronger promenade with drive (I don't know the technical term, sorry) then I'd have marked her higher. The judges have again seen something I haven't or were told to be generous.

SequinsandStiIettos · 12/11/2023 10:01

Also, whilst assuming none of them are struggling anything like the rest of us, maybe Ange could do with the extra Blackpool Bonus financially. Krish will be on a good wage with Channel 4. Whilst he could have given the bonus to his kids - certainly, Jay's earned his share! - not sure how much Ange gets for stand-in newsreading for GBNaziNews.
It was always likely to either have been a Battle of the Newsreaders or a Battle of the Sambas. I didn't think Annabel's was amazing either but it was better than Krish's and Jojo has partnered her very well this year. He's got a lot further than others might have, same as Ellie last year.

SequinsandStiIettos · 12/11/2023 10:02

He's got her a lot further...

SequinsandStiIettos · 12/11/2023 10:05

Top three for final - it really is fighting for that third spot now
Ellie - paso, AS and showdance
Layton - QS, AT and showdance
Would have been Amanda, I'm sure.
I'm guessing
Nigel
but not sure what he'll reprise.

Lentilweaver · 12/11/2023 10:07

I think Bobby will take out Nigel. Though I hope he doesn't, as I mostly find him very uncomfortable to watch. But he has his fans, I think.

I hope Ellie reprises her jive. That was great.

Stroopwaffels · 12/11/2023 10:22

Will definitely be Ellie and Layton in the final with either Bobby or Nigel making up the numbers.

Layton will not win.

Choux · 12/11/2023 11:06

Derail but.... Angela Rippon is on GB News!!!!!

Bleurgh!

EvilRingahBitch · 12/11/2023 11:07

I think Nigel has more votes than Bobby, but regardless of that, the most likely scenario is that whoever's bottom of the leaderboard in the semifinals will be in the dance-off with Layton and going home. On current form that could be either Nigel or Bobby - it's down to the dances on the night. There is a scenario where the person second from bottom goes in the dance-off with Layton though. If C is contestant, J is judges score, P is public score, T is total. I think that's a plausible split of public votes. Bobby goes home.

C J P T
L 4 1 5
E 3 3 6
B 2 2 4
N 1 4 5

However it's also quite possible that Layton is getting more votes than Bobby. Which would give us and send Nigel home in the DO. Weird outcome where getting fewer votes keeps the penultimate person on the leaderboard safe.
C J P T
L 4 2 6
E 3 3 6
B 2 1 3
N 1 4 5

Choux · 12/11/2023 11:15

I think Ellie is topping the public vote so based on your figs that makes Nigel even more vulnerable to the dance off.

Nigel and Bobby's public vote positions could change a lot as Annabel, Angela S and Krishnan's voters transfer their allegiances elsewhere.

This could even be the year where the ringer is so ringy and so far ahead of the others - including Ellie who has no acrobatics in her locker - that the ringer actually wins.

2Rebecca · 12/11/2023 11:19

I don't think Strictly has been good for AR's career/PR. She started well but the overmarking has turned people against her. The judges should be objective and not have their heads turned because a 78 year old can still do a high kick. I don't understand why so many people are supporting Krishnan. He wasn't progressing well
