I have a lame. And I'm not afraid to use it.

GrouchyKiwi · 31/05/2023 20:59

Would eating a Maltesers-themed dessert give you nostalgia buzz?

No. I'd swerve it!

GrouchyKiwi · 31/05/2023 21:00

See you tomorrow at 8pm!

I'm glad the family thing is first. By the time they actually start cooking my children should finally be in bed and I'll get the living room to myself.

Nameinspirationneeded · 31/05/2023 21:00

Till tomorrow- my niche is left handed cooking utensils

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 31/05/2023 21:00

Yeah, that wins Halsall!
Claires gaff is £155 for lunch and£175 for dinner a la carte.

Piggywaspushed · 31/05/2023 21:00

Ta ra!

bomanicious · 31/05/2023 20:58

Was it the one with Stacey Dooley presenting?

Yep - Hungry for it. It is still on iPlayer.

Jourdain11 · 31/05/2023 21:02

See you all next time ☺️

WhiskersPete · 31/05/2023 21:02

Thanks for the thread @Pebbledashery

Was it good?

I started to watch the first episode, then realised Stacey Dooley was still annoying as fuck to me, so switched off!

Damn. Can I donate it back? 😬

She annoys me too, but I actually found her less irritatin' than usual because she wasn't tryin' to be profound. The contestants were deliciously irritating but some of the food looked pretty okay!

hands up, I googled! Am impressed. I have a very sharp filleting knife that I am terrified of, it crouches in its own box waiting to leap out at me and attack. But I use it, with a and e on speed dial.

Thank you, I might give it another go then, seeing as I'm up to date on all the international Masterchef's!

TroysMammy · 31/05/2023 21:18

I have a falafel maker and a risotto spoon.

Blueberrycreampie · 31/05/2023 21:23

I don't have any fancy implements really but I'm always on the lookout for a potato ricer.

EvenmoreDisorganised · 31/05/2023 21:25

We have a potato ricer, DH bought it, I hate it. Takes ages to do enough mash for the whole family, makes lots of mess and the potato goes cold while you are doing it.

GrandTheftWalrus · 31/05/2023 23:04

Hi all!

I've been watching bgt as on a thread on another forum for it. So just catching up now.

Wanky food again. The challenges in Turkey didn't look very good.

Also the "chippy" sauce sounds revolting but dh likes it as he's from Edinburgh and I'm a weegie lol.

Also was at hampden on Sunday and they had a kebab pie which we were both intrigued by but didn't get.

Oh really? And there was me thinking I could perfect my mashed potato if only I had the right tool for the job! Mind you, there's only two of us so it might work?

I think if you warm up the bowl you are mashing into and work quickly, also make sure the potatoes are very soft it would be fine, it is probably possible to avoid too much mess too, we never seem to. It does make very light mash, but I prefer the texture of it when it's been done with a traditional masher.

GrouchyKiwi · 01/06/2023 19:39

I know this would make many a chef recoil in horror, but I prefer it when my mashed potatoes have a few little potato lumps in them. Lets me know I'm eating actual potato instead of Smash or similar.

EvenmoreDisorganised · 01/06/2023 19:52

Yes, that's exactly it @GrouchyKiwi. When I first met DH he used to use an electric hand mixer, it made it all silky and slimy, I had to retrain him.

I'm actually all for this too. Ultra smooth mash is a bit too puree baby food for me

@TroysMammy "I have a falafel maker and a risotto spoon."

I have to have a risotto spoon. What is a risotto spoon?

jay55 · 01/06/2023 19:56

Claire was a guest judge on top chef this season, and one of her former chefs, Budda was competing.
He was super complimentary about her and the training he got working under her.

Hope for a lack of wankery tonight.
