Anyone watching this? I've watched all of them and am enjoying it. I loved Enid Blyton books as a child, especially the boarding school books. Although the series is different from the books, I still enjoy it. Lovely location.
I guess if they were true to the books, the "nice" characters would have to be snooty bullies. 😀
I like the storyline involving Mademoiselle Rougier and Irene and the secret room storyline. Also the Gwen/Ron storyline.

Oh fab. Didn't reliese e11 is now on

Will watch

Gwen is by far the best actress. Maybe she has got a better offer.

Oor · 12/11/2024 22:31

It’s a shame they’re mainly focussing on the younger kids. The books obviously had the younger kids in them but the main focus was Darrell and her friends. No irene or Gwen so far that I’ve noticed. I agree Gwen is definitely the best actress.

She was in Fool Me Once on Netflix so I suspect so!

I suppose we have to remember the target audience is children so the younger girls are more relevant to them

purser25 · 13/11/2024 08:39

Maybe the older girls were in the middle of exams.

This is true 😂 I think I’m forgetting I’m not the target audience!

LaBelleSauvage123 · 13/11/2024 18:57

Me too! 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/11/2024 22:50

Seems Middle ages ladies (myself) enjoy more then teens 😂

purser25 · 14/11/2024 08:32

I think you are right. What occurred to me in the last programme is that some of the second years were not very nice when asked to help Nurse Jane nasty little madams.

PuttingDownRoots · 14/11/2024 08:48

The second formers are supposed to be 13ish? They seem so immature a lot of the time, but mature at other times.

(And the football thing is annoying me ad they wouldn't be able to beat boys who are going through puberty.)

SeaPink · 27/11/2024 16:28

I'm still enjoying watching this. I'm still annoyed they aren't wearing the brown and orange uniforms from the books though!

This half of the series has so much more energy now Gwen is back!

GOTBrienne · 28/11/2024 10:42

the thing I don’t understand is why Ron and his little brother have Yorkshire accents, it is set in Cornwall isn’t it? And they are meant to be local.

I can't help thinking that, whilst the BBC have gone to great lengths to embrace diversity in matters of race and disabilities when it comes to the girls, they still can't get the fixed notion out of their heads that 'working class and/or humble = northern'.

i totally agree. Working class character so must cast a kid with a northern accent even if it makes no sense to the story

SeaPink · 03/12/2024 23:45

I thought that was a good ending. I hope they do more series.
I might watch it back from the beginning.

What have been people's favourite bits? I enjoyed the series with the dodgy replacement Headmistress, although it was a bit dark. I like the tricks.

For those with Prime, Miss Grayling is the police chief in the new series of Cross.

PuttingDownRoots · 11/12/2024 21:51

I've read they are currently filming series 6&7!

I got irrationally annoyed at the finding of the necklace. How was it that shiny and clean after apparently being in a "chamber" of hundreds of years that the girls pretty much found by falling into it?

RampantIvy · 11/12/2024 22:01

Ooh. I didn't know there were more series to watch.
I'm glad this thread popped up.
