Anyone watching this? I've watched all of them and am enjoying it. I loved Enid Blyton books as a child, especially the boarding school books. Although the series is different from the books, I still enjoy it. Lovely location.
I guess if they were true to the books, the "nice" characters would have to be snooty bullies. 😀
I like the storyline involving Mademoiselle Rougier and Irene and the secret room storyline. Also the Gwen/Ron storyline.

I thought they might develop the story with June's parents being uninterested in her a bit more. Maybe next series

I admittedly haven't finished the final episode but I really thought they would go back to the Darrell, Alicia, Sally triangle again.

I felt sorry for Darrell this year. She had to mop up so much shit on behalf of the teachers.

I really can’t take to the Susan character at all.

I watched it with my daughters. Loved it (and the books)!

Re the accents - I think the series is filmed in Canada so perhaps some of the actors are Canadian and are putting on the accent?

Help. Have been binging from the start. IPlayer wants me to watch the two Xmas specials after series 3. But Darrell and especially Ron all look years older? And the uniform looks different? Do these really come between 3 and 4? Or should I watch 4 first?

They’re kinda stand alones just keep going in order.

I thought the first episode of the new series was promising with the new matron and the naughty younger ones partying. Was Gwendoline in it? I didn't see her.
I'm still annoyed they don't wear the brown uniform from the books!

We want real matron back! My DD is gutted!

I was a bit disappointed when they changed the Felicity actress. Nothing wrong with the new one, it just felt strange.

Watched episodes 1&2 last night. DDs commented on no Alicia...
Are they cutting out the 5th formers? It was just darrel, Sally Mary lou and Gwen really.

I think Alicia was stood in the crowd outside of school?

DH is also disappointed as it’s not the head mistress he fancies.

DD is 16 and loves this, as do I having read the books when I was younger.

We went to Hartland Abbey a couple of years where a lot of the indoor/outdoor scenes are filmed and are going again this year as DD wants to see it again.

I'm watching the latest episode. The circus girl has an odd voice.

I irrationally annoyed at episode 4.
Girls are fighting for their teams at the moment while they are making it look like that girls can easily play on boys teams at 13ish years old.

However the highlighting of it being banned for girls yo play football at all then was good.

I'm wondering why it's almost entirely focused on the younger girls - possibly the older ones just look too old now? Or the actors are doing exams or something? I'm not as interested in the younger ones - too far from the books.

The Jo actress is a good actress I think. They all are really. I remember reading the books as a kid and there was a dad who told his daughter to have fun and Darrell was disapproving as her father would have told her to work hard. Probably Jo's dad.

Does it say in the books what Darrel went on to do after school?

She was going to go to St Andrews.

In terms of what she was going to study there, or actual future plans, no. I remember from Fifth form that she wanted to be a playwright or writer.

Last Term at Malory Towers. They were all off to uni or setting up their own businesses and so on.

Rereading it as an adult, I remember being quite impressed they weren't all planning to get married and have children, but have their own careers. In the Chalet School, they just seemed to end up popping out babies all the time, which does allow for keeping a family in the school, but unless someone ended up teaching there, careers seemed less of an option.
