Anyone watching this? I've watched all of them and am enjoying it. I loved Enid Blyton books as a child, especially the boarding school books. Although the series is different from the books, I still enjoy it. Lovely location.
I guess if they were true to the books, the "nice" characters would have to be snooty bullies. 😀
I like the storyline involving Mademoiselle Rougier and Irene and the secret room storyline. Also the Gwen/Ron storyline.

Just seen the Xmas special. I have a few bones to pick

Why are they all at school on Christmas Eve. Very unlikely

Would darrels parents really say stay at school at Xmas then to go home with Sally /other girls

Who was looking after felicity if parents stuck on a boat

Why sit at a bus stop on Xmas day as def be no buses

If the girls managed to walk back from the station /town in an hour after missing the train

Why couldn't miss g and matron walk from where car was broken down

They had gone to town to get supplies

Would the station not be at the same town ?

But the best was changing lights to sos. Very unlikely and prob short circuit whole school

I think there did used to be buses on Christmas Day, like a Sunday service.

Yes there were in the 60s, so maybe further back too.

Me too. I saw it mentioned on one of those "Back in Time for Dinner" type programmes

Oh I love those. Hope they do another series soon

purser25 · 12/07/2024 16:21

I can remember catching the bus to my Grandmas on Christmas Day. Think they stopped earlier than usual. Remember the uproar when there were no buses or trains on Christmas Day you used to get a post on Christmas Day as well

saveforthat · 12/07/2024 20:01

It's really woke but I'm enjoying it because the actress who plays Daryl is exactly as I imagined her.

PoliteOtter · 13/07/2024 08:33

There are still some buses on Christmas Day but there would probably not be one in the middle of nowhere. I otherwise agree with the list of Christmas Day improbabilities and thought the same when I watched it.

Watching no 4. The football one.

Didn't Clarissa have heart issues so had to give up lacrosse

So surely she wouldn't be safe running about playing football

PuttingDownRoots · 09/07/2024 13:25

Theres 10 more episodes of series 5 to go!

My money is on it bern the younger sister who is supposed to be getting married

That's what I thought too.

Good hint of a northern accent in there which was the giveaway 😂

No it turn d out to be thyroid iirc and so medication helped.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/07/2024 23:28

Ah. I must pay more attention 😂

LaBelleSauvage123 · 19/07/2024 13:26

Just watching the whole 4 series through again ( with DH, who scoffed and is now hooked!) Irene mentions her mother in series 1 and then in series 4 her father is marrying Mamzelle. No sign of grief from Irene in series 1-3. Continuity error I think!

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/07/2024 16:44

Didn't her mum die when she was young so been her and papa for years

LaBelleSauvage123 · 19/07/2024 18:49

I’m sure when Gwen stole her hairpin she said that her mother would be really upset.

Why have there been no new episodes this week - anyone know?

Danascully2 · 19/07/2024 19:22

My 10 year old son has gravitated to watching this - possibly he thought it would be like harry Potter...! Not quite sure what he's making of it as he watches it while I cook dinner but he's watched quite a lot so must like it. Maybe I'll have to watch it with him as it seems quite a lot of parents are enjoying it.

Danascully2 · 19/07/2024 19:23

I don't think he was aware of the books before he watched it, just came across it by accident via Cbbc.

I think there's a gap between the first 10 episodes and next 10. I don't know how long for. I was wondering the same

Wonder when this is finished if they will do st clare's

LaBelleSauvage123 · 19/07/2024 20:50

That would be great! And then the Chalet School 😆

PuttingDownRoots · 19/07/2024 20:59

I think they are setting up a revolving cast personally... so in a couple of years we will get a new First Form.
