Why would someone with Cam's working schedule apply for the show? And why would the show allow it - surely it's a huge indication that he's not actually in it for a proper relationship?

Honeyroar · 25/04/2023 22:13

Absolutely. I’ve thought that all along. It’s hardly a niche job that can’t be done anywhere else in the country! He’s just not giving an inch. Who would want to be in a relationship with that? That’s why I think he’d be better with “see you next Tuesday” Alyssa! Who doesn’t give an inch either.

RegainingTheWill2023 · 25/04/2023 22:24

My favourite part was Alyssa flouncing ... into a very small dark cabin with a baffled sound man and loads of carrier bags 🤣

Marchintospring · 25/04/2023 22:28

Didn’t Cam say something about living in the outback being the problem and wanting to meet someone who could change that, at the beginning? Surely he would have said that to Lyndell too at the start? What about kids and any new partner getting pregnant. Don’t they talk about anything obvious? It’s just so weird. They’re married and living in a tiny flat for 10 weeks.

MelsMoneyTree · 25/04/2023 22:31

Oh I have so many opinions! (much later than the rest of you because our internet tonight has had all the connectivity of a carpenter in the Northern Territories).
Cam could easily work somewhere else and told the experts he wanted to give up his current lifestyle of working away 6 months of the year. That's why they let him on the show. But now he's too wee and too feart to actually make any changes. I used to have to travel with work (not to NT but to remote areas where I needed a satellite phone). I gave that up when I wanted to have a marriage and DC because it does not work with those type of commitments.
This feels like my olive pleather dress all over again ... but I'm putting my head above the parapet to say ... I actually felt a bit sorry for Alyssa tonight. Every time - in every other episode - when she said she had a child she had to prioritise - she thought she was saying 'I can't live with anyone fulltime because I'm not introducing a random to my child'. Also I think her ex (who obviously was dysfunctional because she thinks her relationship with Dunc is the best she's ever had) is probably putting lots of pressure on her not to dump their DC with a babysitter whilst she has a shot on Duncan's boat.
It's funny to me that Dunc and Al live 8 or 18 minutes apart and don't know people in common. If I was introduced to someone who lived 18 minutes away from me, I can guarantee we'd know someone from each other's school, a former work colleague and at least one distant relative of each other.

Both Cam and Alyssia would have given much more if they had been matched with partners who weren’t as nice. They’re both that type of person who craves maltreatment (Alyssia) or hard-nosed coldness (Cam - that’s what he’s used to).

Alyssia has sabotaged what could have been a wonderful relationship with a kind man who is prepared to work hard at making her happy when she has given a huge amount more to a lying cheater.

Cam touched on the lack of emotional closeness and affection from his own upbringing. It’s hard to imagine him having any relationship unless it’s with someone like his mother.

AtlasPine · 25/04/2023 22:35

I really want Mel and Leyton to make it. They’re both good people under their stubbornness.

theluckiest · 25/04/2023 21:55

I have a question...what does Cam actually do for a job?

What takes him to the arse-end of nowhere for up to a year? What is he doing???

I was listening to MAFS Hysteria today and they said that apparently he builds infrastructure for indigenous communities. So pretty worthy, if true. Still doesn't excuse him being a dick tho!

Marchintospring · 25/04/2023 22:46

@AtlasPine you are spot on. There is someone for everyone, even people that don’t really want someone.

I agree. And I think that have really strong feelings for each other.

Marchintospring · 25/04/2023 23:13

You can’t tell me Mel and Layton couldn’t have found partners on the outside though. They both went in thinking it would help promote them/business and they had nothing to lose. I think they have similar enough lifestyles and mindset to make it work. They are both used to “solving” problems to make their businesses successful.
Harrison clearly just went in for fame. Bronte realised Harrison was a non starter but saw the potential. I think the four of them have a similar issues and Layton and Bronte might have been good. I’d have put Duncan with Mel.
Alyssa could have Shannon!

Whilst Duncan sat upstairs pouring himself champagne 😂

Deranged woman 🤣

Haha brilliant.

I had that problem last week, sooo frustrating not being able to post

dillite · 26/04/2023 00:07

From now on, whenever my manager asks me difficult questions at work that I don't want to answer, I am going to shout I HAVE A CHILD, and flounce out of the room.

I might do the same to my child at home also. Just to watch the confused face.

Sunbird24 · 26/04/2023 00:34

Or you could try the Harrison approach of “I genuinely don’t recall”

SinisterBumFacedCat · 26/04/2023 01:03

Well, I have THREE children! <<flounces>>

ballsdeep · 26/04/2023 07:47

I can’t stand Alyssa anymore. Every time she looks up to the sky and presses her eyes I think ffs off she goes again!
poor Duncan can’t do anything right. The way w friends grilled him was awful and uncomfortable and she was loving it! You could see she was loving the attention and drama. I don’t know this at all, but if Duncan leaves her I think she’ll be so shocked because she thinks she can treat him terribly and he’ll come back! There’s no way Duncan can stay in a relationship like this!
I felt SO sorry for lyndall. He’s just not into her. Even his arm around her was distant and mate like.

burnoutbabe · 26/04/2023 08:18

I imagine Cameron is employed at a good rate to do outback projects as a carpenter. So not a niche role but much better money than if he did same job somewhere normal.

(Same with oil rig workers)

OrangeWoolCardiWrap · 26/04/2023 08:34

Whatever happened to Olivia from last year?

Floofydawg · 26/04/2023 08:38

Come on folks, too many spoilers creeping in ☹️
